What are you watching? Film/TV
Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
There's no doubt older Simpsons is better. The newer stuff is nowhere near as bad as some suggest though.

There have only been a few episodes I would actually call terrible. At worst an episode is mediocre.

one of the best acted, written, edited shows on t.v., shame it's going away.

Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
Just watched that Arnold Schwarzenegger flick Sabotage. It was pretty terrible, but in a kinda interesting way. Like it was really stupid, but that stupidity made it kinda unpredictable. I mean it is actually pretty predictable in the end, it's just that you're never really sure what the movie is going to do. Like you're never really sure if the movie is going to have a stupid twist or if it's going to play out it's stupid plot to it's stupid conclusion. It's not a movie I think I could stand watching again, but I didn't hate watching it. It was kinda like a I Know What You Did Last Summer style slasher mixed with like a meathead military movie. It was fairly entertaining especially once the non-Arnold meatheads started dying.
Also the dude that was replaced by Don Cheadle in the Iron Man movies is in it and it's kind of a weird casting. I mean his character description is basically "he's played by the guy who was replaced by Don Cheadle in the Iron Man movies," but he's also kinda important. So he was basically casted just to make the character stand out. Also I think the guy from Avatar was in it, but I couldn't tell because he looked generic white military guy with a weird beard.
I give it like a 5/10.

I liked that movie more than that but I could see why others wouldn't.
Yes that's the guy from Avatar, Sam Worthington I think.
And you're right on about its unpredictability, though I very much liked that about it.

I also like the part at the end where Arnold shoots an innocent woman and the movie just sort of glosses over it to make the him look more badass.

Well his character wasn't exactly a "good" guy.UndKeineZwEier wrote:I also like the part at the end where Arnold shoots an innocent woman and the movie just sort of glosses over it to make the him look more badass.

I know but it was just a really weird thing to do. It was just weird. It's so quick that most people wouldn't even notice and there really wasn't a point to it.
Oh I also loved that

Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
I will say that that was also one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's finer performances. He did quite a bit with what was really a kind of shitty role. It mean it wasn't an Oscar worthy performance, but it was a better performance than you would expect from Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
Agreed. The more movies he gets under his belt in his post governator career the more he has improved in his new "old cowboy/seasoned vet/etc" role.
By the way did you like "The Last Stand"?

Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
I did like it. I liked that the stakes were never very high. It felt like an older style of action movie, like it could've been made in the late '70s with like Charles Bronson or Clint Eastwood in Arnold Schwarzenegger's place.

Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
That's the perfect way to describe it actually. I liked how it didn't ignore his age. Lots of fun.
Another thing it had was a terrible trailer, made it seem as if Knoxville had a bigger role than he actually did. His role ended up being just right, if you're gonna have him in that type of movie.

I like this anti-smoking ad that shows a bunch of photos of celebrities smoking and then says "everytime one of these photos gets posted Big Tobacco makes millions of dollars in unpaid advertising."
I don't think they realize what they've done.

Overall Utopia was a very different yet a visually enjoyable show to watch. The last two episodes were a little bit sloppy in the way it ended IMO. It is the first British show I have actually enjoyed though. Overall 8/10.

No shakes, since I didn't think the last season was that great (though the last few episodes were good), but I am looking forward to the resumption of the series.N.Y.H.C. wrote:

Do you mean the last episodes of season one or two?BlackHole83 wrote:Overall Utopia was a very different yet a visually enjoyable show to watch. The last two episodes were a little bit sloppy in the way it ended IMO. It is the first British show I have actually enjoyed though. Overall 8/10.
I agree a terrific show, particularly visually and It posed a moral perspective that we don't often see discussed.
The man at the bus station speaking to the woman with the ailing child had me gasping and laughing at the same time. One of the best shows I've seen in a while.
And I can't wait for the conclusion of SOA. Charlie Hunnam is a good bit to perv on and the journey and development of "Jax" has been written very authentically I think. Katey Sagal is also an excellent character actress and an absolute scene stealer.
Last years season finale was shattering. The fallout will be as dark and messy as anything we have seen I hope.
"She's a very charming and delightful creature, and has only one fault that I know of. It happens, unfortunately, that that single blemish is a want of taste. She don't like me."
Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
Can't wait for more 10 minute montage's with Segal wailing over it.

Not watching this right now, but it seems interesting and I want to put it somewhere I'll be able to find it later this week.
