Trying to make a movie based on Moby Dick would appeared to be doomed to failure, but Ron Howard has a pretty good hit rate so I'll give it a chance. That Thor dude shits me though.

Edit: Maybe it's not really based on Moby Dick, but they seem to be pushing that angle a bit in the trailer. Anyway...

That movie is based on this true story:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essex_(whaleship)

Basically the story on which Moby Dick was inspired. But if you read above the movie will be spoiled though. Just as Apollo 13 was already spoiled because it was a true story... wait... Ron Howard again! Same with Rush. :)

Trailer looks cool though.

Avengers trailers looks okay. The first movie is kinda overrated looking at imdb in my own humble view.

It's got its moments, but I found it too generic and detached for the most part. Especially that first hour or so. Woof.

"there's only one God ma'am, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like THAT"

"we need a plan of attack!", "I've got a plan....attack"

^that whole scene made the first hour. sick. "Shakespeare in the park" haha

Avengers is awesome. Up to that point it was my favorite comic movie, though Ledger's Joker was and still is my favorite part of a movie.

I need to watch it again, but Guardians might be my favorite now.

I hate when studios announce release date years ahead of time. It's hard for me to get enthusiastic about a movie when it feels like it's just rolling off a fucking assembly line.

I remember like 10 years ago or so they showed a preview for a movie that was coming out in a year and a half, I thought that was nuts. Like COME ON.

Now it wouldn't even make me blink.

Well it feels like that because they do roll off an assembly line. Doesn't mean they can't be good, but that's studio movies these days. You realize they literally have a formula/program that they plug stats/cast/data into and it essentially tells them what the opening weekend take should be? This is literally a thing they do.

WOW. I just got the geek chills. I can't imagine what this is going to look like. I mean does JJ really have a signature on his films? colors and editing for Super 8 and Star Trek were kind of similar. I'm having a problem imagining what the final product will feel like. is it going to be an epic action/adventure piece? or more intimate with some breaks? the trailer should debut before The Age Of Ultron (I'm guessing). he has a clean cinematic vision, doesn't really jump around too much. I always felt it would be a dark gritty story but I doubt it will be shot as such, not with countless millions behind it. thoughts?
