Checking out the premiere of Another Period. It's pretty funny.

Movies I've seen within the last month:

Birdman - really good.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - eh, it was alright.
Whiplash - interesting, worth a watch.
Gone Girl - eh.
Fury - it was alright.
Interstellar - entertaining. Really enjoyed the soundtrack.
Boyhood - eh, it was alright.
Restrepo - eye opening.
Shame - really good.
Inherent Vice - liked it a lot. Felt like a mix between The Big Lebowski and Chinatown.
Predestination - good.
Crystal Fairy & the Magical Cactus - entertaining.
Nightcrawler - great.
John Wick - mostly ridiculous.
Don Jon - it was okay.
Mad Max Fury Road - very cool.

Up next...

Enter the Void

If Gone Girl did nothing for you then I'm guessing you've never had a crazy/psycho girlfriend.

That woman is by FAR the most frightening person/character/creature/whatevs that I've EVER seen on any form of entertainment medium. Straight up terrifying. Well done, Rosamund Pike.

^Oh no, I was most definitely terrified of her, and unfortunately I've experienced borderline crazy. I definitely felt for the husband at the end of the movie, trapped like that. I think it was more the plausibility of the entire story. Just a bit too far fetched how everything came together, but as a fiction it was entertaining. I'll give it that.

As for most terrifying portrayal of a relationship gone wrong, I'd say "Audition" did it for me. That made me rethink dating altogether. Talk about crazy.

The Captive

Atom Egoyan 2014

(Ryan Reynolds, Rosario Dawson..)

All over the place. Muddled and confusing. Stereotypical villains and poorly conceived characters a plenty. And Ryan Reynolds was so far out of his depth here I felt like throwing him a life jacket.

Missed Opportunity.

^Good to know, thanks!

I think the last Atom Egoyan film I saw was Ararat. I recall that one being pretty good.

Exotica, The Sweet Hereafter, and Felicia's Journey are the only others I've seen.

Currently watching Suits season 5 with my girl, not a big fan of this series after the drama started in s3. Was much better when it was about actual laws and real cases, now it's just drama between the main characters.

Gaspar Noe's "Enter the Void" - This movie was a trip. I don't think I'll ever watch it again and it's definitely not a casual recommendation, but I'm glad I saw it. Watching it felt like a bit of a commitment. I was a fan of "Irreversible," and that one's was a difficult to get through as well.

Also watched "Frank." Quite a bit more lighthearted and quirky than "Enter the Void." Worth checking out.

The Imitation Game

If you haven't had the opportunity to see this yet...PLEASE make time to do so.

Even I was moved by the end. And it really takes a lot for a film to move me. No surprises there.

Done. It's now on the list. I wasn't all that interested before, but I'll check it out now. Thanks for the recommendation.

I've got "Winter's Bone" and "Wish I Was Here" pending at the moment.

I'm also looking forward to "The Salt of the Earth." I've heard great things about that one (and I'm a Wim Wenders fan).

Interiors (1978)

Not the best film to come out of the 1970's....but it's cutting it awful close.

Me too, I liked all of Connerys movies when I was very young, then I remember watching all the new Brosnan ones when they came out and I thought they were awesome. Now Craig is just crushing bond movies, they are the best yet... I went back and watched some Brosnan ones recently and they are terrible haha. Minus Goldeneye, all of Brosnans suck.
