As heard on Part 13 of 'Twin Peaks: The Return.'

From Dean Hurley's "Anthology Resource Vol. 1: △△," an album of the sound design from 'Twin Peaks: The Return.'

Although Twin Peaks: The Return has hosted an array of Roadhouse performers and spotlighted music throughout its new season, a large part of the show’s sonic identity has been defined by the space between sound effects and music. Sound and music Supervisor Dean Hurley’s first installment of the library-style Anthology Resource series showcases his original sound design and music compositions featured in the show’s very distinctive-sounding third season. From ethereal tones to sputtering electricity to densely brooding musical cues, this release operates as an unofficial ambient score to Twin Peaks, offering a more abstract counterpoint to the show’s official soundtrack and score. (You might also remember Hurley as the drummer from the fictitious band Trouble, alongside Alex Zhang Hungtai of Dirty Beaches, and David Lynch’s son Riley, who performed at the Roadhouse in 'Part 5' of The Return.)

Sound and music supervisor Dean Hurley has operated David Lynch’s Asymmetrical Studio for the past 12 years, collaborating extensively with Lynch on a myriad of his film, commercial and music-based projects. In addition to his sound and music supervision for both Inland Empire and Twin Peaks: The Return, Hurley co-wrote and produced four full-length LPs with Lynch: The Air is on Fire (2007), This Train (2011), Crazy Clown Time (2011), and The Big Dream (2013). Hurley’s music production has also extended to artists like Lykke Li, Dirty Beaches, Zola Jesus, and The Veils.

Well now, that was something. Not exactly sure what it was, but it was indeed...something.

So long Twin Peaks.

That was the craziest ending to a television show I've ever seen! I lost sleep over it... couldn't have asked for more!

There were definitely things I wanted more of, but...that's Lynch.

TWIN PEAKS SEASON 3 BLU-RAY TO INCLUDE OVER 3 HOURS OF BONUS MATERIAL

The British Board of Film Classification yesterday rated the additional material that will be part of the upcoming Twin Peaks: The Third Season Blu-ray release. The following titles and runtimes can be found on their website:

A Bloody Finger In Your Mouth (25:43)
A Pot Of Boiling Oil (36:58)
Do Not Pick Up Hitchhikers (25:39)
See You On The Other Side, Dear Friend (28:49)
Tell It, Martin (27:57)
The Man With The Gray Elevated Hair (28:27)
Two Blue Balls (23:13)

Every segment has been rated aged 15 and up, except for “See You On The Other Side Dear Friend,” which was classified for 12 and up.

Based on this information, it’s not clear whether this “additional material” is actually related to the 2017 Showtime series, but we do know a lot of interviews and behind-the-scenes footage was shot during production. Perhaps quotes from cast and crew served as titles for BTS documentaries? For instance, “Martin” could refer to set decorator Florencia Martin or driver Martin Tajra.

Season 3 will be out on December 5th, 2017, and is expected to include 7 Blu-ray or 8 DVD discs.
