Nice! I wish I were in Australia.
Yeah, it should be fun. I hear Aussie Tool fans are less douchey than fans here in the US. Either way, I'm gonna get ready to put another shrimp on the bar-b.
I can't see how that could be true. The American fans I've met here and in the states tended to have a higher level of sophistication. Aussie fans of most bands tend to be a little on the dumb side.

The concerts I've gone to lately (mind you, American Tool fans were fucking awesome back in the mid-late 90s, early 00s.) I was fairly disgusted at how many tools (pun intended) were in the audience. You know, the jockey, popped collar pink polo wearing motherfuckers that just shout "Mayyyyynarrrddd!" or "Fuck yeah TOOL!"
I imagine every region is different, but I've been to concerts all over the mid-west and they're all the same.
I'll get back to you on how American and Australian Tool fans compare in a month's time.

From my experience, that's what they're like in Sydney/Newcastle.
And if they're not, they're the kind of people who regard TOOL as a religion.

The last sideshow I saw, I was stunned at just how perfect the crowd was for a Tool show, which was the brisbane sideshow in 2011.. Was almost like a theatre crowd, with everyone just taking it all in, giving polite applause, singing along when neccessary & being taken on a ride by the band..
07 in Sydney on the other hand, was fucking hilarious.. A circle pit during Rosetta Stoned... Really??Â

^^ Totally agree with these comments bout the Brisbane sideshow 2011. coming from NZ, i couldnt believe how cordial the crowd was. and i was stunned and a little disappointed everyone in seats actually sat down during the show??? Is this sitting in seats an Aussie thing? And the Train ride back to the city, people were just chatting quietly amongst themselves, probably in awe of what they had just witnessed!.
Cant imagine, the upcoming Auckland shows will be like that!!!

Had a chat to Matt @ Sip & Listen over night, and he tells me there will be Caduceus wine tastings in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Â I'll post details on the blog when I get them (venues are TBC) however cost will be $25 to enter, and should you buy a bottle of wine this $25 will be discounted.

my sentiments exactly regarding the asses in seats topic... said/asked it one too many times already... every 'llarger-scale' show
I've been to in Melbourne is like this and it's fucking upside down insanity to me... I still do not grasp the concept whatsoever (nor do have much respect for it). Â Seems an absolute waste to me... may as well have stayed home and watched Glee
on the other hand, a circle pit at tool, as stated by busty, is the opposite variation of crowd retardation

Honestly... How can a quiet, subdued, respectful crowd be a bad thing?!!
I saw Tool in Nottingham a few yrs back and left with a cracked rib, thanks to a bunch of shaved apes, behaving like they had chronic Parkinson's.
Morons like this belong in labour camps, not concerts.

There's idiots in every crowd. Â I can't compare Australian to overseas shows, as I've never seen an overseas show, but I find that crowds don't really bother me much here.
If you're in Adelaide let me know, as I may be having a beer or two prior to the show...
I'll be there for the concert and perhaps a day after. We'll see what the wife wants to do. After me, of course.

Have been fortunate enough to have always managed  to jag Ga tix to 'rock' gigs except for RATM and no way I was sitting my arse down during that. Can't imagine I'd do the same during Tool either. It's a fucking rock concert, stand on ya feet n enjoy the show for 2 measly hours I say..Â

So with two weeks to go, has anyone had any thoughts on the setlists for the upcoming tour? With an awesome addition of some classic tracks in the last tour (Ticks, HWAP, Parabola), it would be great to see some Opiate goodies join the party too! Here’s what I would like to see first up in Melbourne Saturday week:
Hooker with a penis
Jambi
Sweat
ions
Stinkfist
Parabola
Pushit
Intension
Aenima
Opiate
Or mix it up with Aenima, ticks and leeches, the pot, rosetta stoned, or anything else off the first EP - hopefully the mix it with at least two different tracks for the 2nd night. This is obviously a dream setlist, but with what they've been playing in the last tour and the re-release, hopefully it's within the realms of reality.

I don't think that setlist is too unrealistic.
My gut feeling is that one out of HWAP, T&L and Pushit from the last tour are played (I'd prefer Pushit or T&L personally) and that Opiate will be added and hopefully something else
My guess at a setlist is:
Stinkfist
Ticks & Leeches
Jambi
Pushit
Schism
Part of Me
Opiate
46 & 2
Lateralus
Aenema

Great setlist HB, 46&2 will prob be in there thinking about it...and those visuals that go with it are amazing! Oh yeah I think a new jam would be great too, but not to fussed really. Would rather just hear the new album and then see that on tour later next year (fingers crossed). Since it has been so long since I've caught a stand alone tool gig (2002), I just want to catch a few classics.
Part of me would be sick, and yes I did see that they threw sober into the mix last year...but it's a track that I can live without. Pushit and Opiate are a must for me, anything else would be a bonus.
Oh and just watching the V8s and I caught that tool ad you mentioned earlier in the week HB...pretty chur
