Re: Movie/TV News
Depends. If it's mostly action scenes like that it could be pretty awesome. Imagine an Arkham Asylum movie in the vein of like Dredd or The Raid: Redemption.

A movie full of Batman punching Ben Affleck would be okUndKeineZwEier wrote:Depends. If it's mostly action scenes like that it could be pretty awesome. Imagine an Arkham Asylum movie in the vein of like Dredd or The Raid: Redemption.
Re: Movie/TV News
Watched the trailer. Batman takedown scene looks good, the rest looks as shit as the other teasers. Might pirate this when it comes out on DVD, but it still looks laughably bad for the most part.
Re: Movie/TV News
actually my enthusiasm, after I watched this trailer, is pretty high. I'm going to see it in IMAX and I will be nervously excited until it begins. I hope Zach pulls it off. why are you guys so grouchy?! it's stupid entertainment. it's two of the most iconic, well recognized, superheros on the planet. plus they're on the screen for the first time together. it could be a train wreck but I enjoyed the Man Of Steel, it had some good scenes. went off the rails at the end, which most of Mr. Snyder's movies do. I'm pulling for him though he's puts a lot of work in, I respect that a lot. I'm not a director of blockbuster movies so I'm pretty much in awe of what these dudes get done and put out.hellboy wrote:I don't think anyone is defending the awesomeness of superhero flicks (NYHC seems to be the only one with any kind of enthusiasm for this movie), more the validity of your story.

anyone see Deadpool? how was it? I never read any of the his Marvel comics growing up, I don't even know when the character was introduced (80's, 90's?). going tomorrow night with the fam.

Deadpool doesn't really seem like a family movie. I assume adult family members?
I heard it's pretty good, but not outstanding (the same could be said of most comic movies I guess). I'll check it out when it comes out on DVD.

Yeah. Deadpool does seem like a rainy Saturday arvo flick. Looks watchable. The "cutesy" humour from the trailers does wear thin after a while though, tbh.
Still, it's refreshing to finally see a superhero trailer that doesn't make me want to either throw something at the screen or burst out laughing uncontrollably (for all the wrong reasons).

my brother his wife, her sister and husband, plus my girl. that's what I meant by family. read my comments on the other movie thread regarding the actual children that were there in the theater. I forgot to mention the dad and his 6 year old son as well. wtf were these people thinking???hellboy wrote:Deadpool doesn't really seem like a family movie. I assume adult family members?

Some of the flattest "comedy" I have ever come across in a trailer.
And don't even get me started on the effects.....

I didn't have any significant problem with the effects. It's a comedy so I don't think ground breaking effects are what the movie is about.
The music kinda bothered me as well. That "slow version of an original themesong" is really over done these days.

Yeah. Just check out the original Suicide Squad trailer.

Re: Movie/TV News
You guys realize the people who make the movies aren't the same ones making the trailers, right?

Re: Movie/TV News
It's a team effort. If the director is unwilling to have some say in the quality of the trailer then it doesn't bode well for the movie.

Re: Movie/TV News
besides Fury which I loved and Spectre which I liked look at the long laundry list of steaming piles of dog shit this division continues to put out. besides Captain Philips, which was 3 years ago, there is no box office numbers, no critically acclaimed movies...just straight up BOMB after BOMB after stinking BOMB. pack it in already, sell that entire division to Universal, Disney or Fox and bow out.

Re: Movie/TV News
I saw at least a dozen movies from the past few years on that list that did well either critically or commercially or both.

Re: Movie/TV News
Yeah, I wouldn't have called most of those movies bombs. Many of them were crap, but probably not a commercial failure.

Re: Movie/TV News
Oh also they have Deadpool in the theaters right now which pulled in $638 million on a $50 million budget and currently has an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes, but I guess that's not really a success or anything.
