It's almost sad to try & watch old tool. I've been watching early Melvins, getting my tits well off. If you'd like to see something exciting, search old Melvins live video.

Old Melvins is pretty cool, but what is sad about old Tool? That Tool no longer perform like that?

You can't expect them to perform the same at 50 that they did at 30, but some enthusiasm on stage wouldn't hurt anyone. Well on second thought it may hurt maynards hip.

Maynard still dances around on stage. Justin moves around with his bass like always. Adam never has been much of a mover on stage. Danny still beats the shit outta the drums.

What more do they need to do?

Yeh apart from Maynard no longer bonkers on stage like he used too I can't see much difference from their younger days on stage personas. Its more the lack of variety in setlists that bums me these days. Sure they put 2-3 new ones each tour alongside the staples but they used to mix up those 2-3 between nights back in the day

Agreed - setlist variety is a much bigger issue than mobility on stage.

Not 100% sure what this is all about, but is interesting that MJK, DC and JC are mentioned but not AJ:

He probably just heard the word "lawsuit" and ran the other way.

Who knows. Could just be he wasn't in the Loft when the guy with the petition dropped in.

Hmm.. maybe he and the band aren't on such great terms these days, some sort of falling out? Remember when he didn't join them on stage at the Cinquanta show because he was "sick."

Most likely they reached out to him and he just never responded or he just never saw the petition at all.

I assumed it was about the Stronghold and Cadeuceus split, but maybe, with the whole "smoke on the horizon" bit.

Who knows what it's about but I've seen May Jay talk about that Eric guy (and vice versa) and it's obvious there's anger between them.

Well it can't be my friend Erik because he has a K in his name and I know Ravenpig wouldn't misspell it...

Maynard used him for a stepping stone to his ultimate goal of owning his winery. And i don't mean that in a bad way. May jay had a vision and way that he wanted to run his business, and it didn't line up with Eriks. From what I've read Erik wanted to make cheaper wine and make it very commercially available. Maynard was more interested in making smaller batches, better product, more expensive. I'm sure there is way more that contributed to the split, but that's what was public.
