Holy Motors is on my to do list and I'm totally blind, literally and figuritvly

Just watched spring breakers, what a fucking luscious film, it was like a Refn film mashed with Gus Van Sant, I fucking loved it, my MOTY for now. I was expecting some sort of off the wall art film by most peoples descriptions but what I got was a beautifully shot film with an interesting story.

Also not to take away anything from it, where were my sexy naked bitches getting it on? lolz

Got Spring Breakers at the top of my Netflix queue, but it's hot right now, so it may be a while before I get it.

Just saw The Sessions tonight.  Worth a viewing.  I thought it was very well done.  Great casting and acting, interesting subject matter.  A bit predictable at points, but didn't detract much.

Watched Spring Breakers last night.  Mixed reaction, leaning towards negative.  The acting wasn't great, barring Franco who was really good.  There wasn't much of a plot to speak of, the story kind of petered out.  There were plot POINTS that were interesting, but much of it just didn't seem believable and there were so many loose ends.  While the T&A was interesting, it was also a bit sad.  There were some scenes that could have been comedy (because they were laughable), but again, not sure.  The devices they used, like the incessant repeated lines (for seemingly no reason) and the gun sound effects between most scenes were so fucking annoying I almost gave up.   I was expecting much more from the reviews both here and elsewhere.  Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind to watch a movie, but it just wasn't satisfying.  Also, I'm really, really, really glad that I don't have a daughter.  FFS.

Tyson, I know you loved it, didn't any of that bother you?

Nope, I go into these types of artistic movies with a different set of parameters then a standard hollywood film, I knew that the plot and narrative wasn't going to be handed to me. The film itself can be perceived on a few different levels, the hedonistic lifestyle that has become a staple in the rites of passage ritual of American youth through to the temptation of Satan (Alien) of the four girls, I mean we did open the film with FAITH attending a church sermon and was the first to leave.

Those themes were not lost on me, actually most of that was pretty in your face.  You'd have to be blind not to catch it.  As I said, it just wasn't a satisfying movie experience for me.  Maybe that was partially the point, to make the viewer uncomfortable.  It certainly is disturbing subject matter.

I do agree the cinematography was well done and that dudes take on the color symbolism is interesting.  Maybe I'll give it a while and try watching it again.  But there are a lot of flicks out there, so who knows.

By the way, anybody who hasn't yet seen the movie should probably avoid the link above.

That's why I compared it to a Van Sant film, where the symbology isn't obscure, but people still don't get it most of the time.

Hell, I even missed the fact that at the start of the film the professor was giving a lecture in deconstructionism.

I probably enjoyed the film more because I was drunk, also you don't have to try and explain why you didn't like the film to me, I'm not judging you, you gave an honest opinion and I appreciated it, where not discussing jazz fusion here.

Is this the kind of movie where I'll just end up masturbating throughout the whole thing? Because it looks like it.

I wasn't really aroused at any point, maybe I'm getting old or the director did a great job portraying the erotica as unseemly. I mean the threesome scene was great and all but there was no reality to it.

I don't know what the fuck I'm trying to explain, I really need a beer.

Just watched 'Would you rather'

Good premise for a low budget horror, nothing to rush out and see but I would recommend it, just for Sasha Grey, Ricky from Trailer Park Boys and the black guy from My Name Is Earl

If it's your first time and is the Korean original, prepare to have mind = blown.

My distaste for Korea is quite evident, but when it comes to their films, they tend to do very, very, well.

It is the 2003 Korean version, and yes first time I've seen it (only half way through so far).  Been on my todo list for a while so nice to have a quiet evening to take it all in.

Korean cinema is AMAZING!

'I Saw The Devil' is brilliant.
