Yeah fuck all that. We all have shit to do. If you can't make time to review the albums then you shouldn't be involved in the fucking club. If you make a commitment than you organize your shit so you can meet that commitment. Your perspective is absurd. It would be like joining a book of the month club and jumping in months behind when everyone else has already read and discussed the fucking book and moved on to the next one.petemasterpete wrote:yeah, cause I also presume that no one has any sort of life, responsibility or aspirations outside of Album of the Week... if people don't care to listen to or review upon listening who gives a shit ... keep posting music for whichever people choose to discover it ... As for Listeners Club in general, people need to get their shit together. Base has posted an interesting album and it has three reviews total. If members are not going to actively review and discuss then they shouldn't be able to post an album when their turn comes around.
also, somethings aren't worth leaving notes on ... you know, the whole nothing nice to say bit

Re: Fourtheye Listeners Club
this "club" is not a professional organisation or something to be taken seriously to the extent of your expectations ... it's not paying my bills, or feeding my kids or sucking me off, so the attention I give it is more than enough ... I appreciate the new tunes when I can, and provide feedback as I personally deem reasonable and if I can't so be it. Your shortfall in your argument lies in the fact that you personally feel there's a responsible commitment involved in a forum. You sir are lost ... likely due to your apparent abundance of reading ... yawn

Re: Fourtheye Listeners Club
Someone should post an (non-Classic) album of the week.

I can't link cause I'm on my phone, but I'll suggest Titus Andronicus- The Monitor for AOTW.
Don't normally like punk(ish) albums but I really dug this one. I hope the theme doesn't make you Aussies tune out.

For anyone who missed it on the previous page, this is what RP is referring to:Ravenpig wrote:Oh shit I didn't see the date. My bad.hellboy wrote:Someone should post an (non-Classic) album of the week.
We have two albums of the week, one released on a Sunday (AOTW), and the other on a Wednesday (Classic AOTW).
One album follows the current format which is to pick an album that not many have been exposed to.
The alternate album would be called the "Classic Album of the Week" and can and should be something that most of us have listened to (for example Nirvana's In Utero which has recently been reissued).

Re: Fourtheye Listeners Club
A classic album, for me is one that has critical acclaim across the board (it doesn't have to have commercial success in this case). An album that not only defines the band and what they are about, but the genre they are representing. So while I didn't like HB pick, it is certainly a classic of thrash and metal in general. King Crimsons classic album is and will always be In the Court of the Crimson King, one I didn't like either but still recognise it's a classic of progressive music. Think Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) or In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.
Some bands are blessed with having two or more classic albums, Pink Floyd, Tool, Metallica etc, where fans will spend aeons debating which album is their true opus.

Re: Fourtheye Listeners Club
I agree, but it's not worth getting to bothered over. We'll have a new album next week.

OK, I see your point. And for KC, Court was ONE of their classics. Discipline is certainly another and probably would have been the better choice than Beat in this case. It just didn't happen to be readily available as Crimson is quite actively shutting down © infringing links.
I don't think it's a stretch, on a Tool fan site, that many here have been introduced and dig King Crimson.

Re: Fourtheye Listeners Club
While that may be traditionally true, "classic" in this example is what Hellsoy described.
