I don't get the point of "cringing" though. I've never been ashamed of what I've listened to, or what others do.
I'm testing your theory now. Not sure I'm completely upright.

@Busty I could promise to hold up my phone for a song and post a shitty recording for you but I won't.
I'd tell ya to put ya phone down and enjoy the show if ya did anyway
Don't care about slipknot these days but loved their debut effort on release. I was about 17 at the time and their Sydney show in 2000 remains to this day one of the greatest live gigs I've attended. The energy in that room was fucking incredible that night.
And I must be the only person in here that rates Soad.their first two albums front to back are still great in my mind , steal this album & Mesmerize both have a few gems in their too. Hypnotize on the other hand is terrible.

Lonely Day retrospectively gives their entire discography ass cancer.

Yeh he needs a good punch in the face that cunt. The more control he took, the worse they got.

The best band to make it out of the Nu Metal scene was Deftones, hands down.

They're the Nu metal equivalent of QOTSA for me. Everyone I know loves em and tells me I will do. Never did much for me. Saw em at one of the early Soundwaves and all I really walked away thinking was that bass player needs a new trick other than swinging his bass around him

Haha you and your mate Josh. Just coz I don't like the band much doesn't mean I'm dissing em. They're obviously a good band , just apart from the odd song here and there never got into em

SOAD are one of the better nu-metal bands from that era. Mudvayne were probably the best of a band bunch. Never seen the appeal of Slipknot, their music is bland, and seem to rely purely on theatrics, that having witnessed before are really not all that great. SOAD were a fun band, but don't have the back catalog to support a show longer than an hour.
I don't get the point of "cringing" though. I've never been ashamed of what I've listened to, or what others do. Nu-metal is certainly uncool, but in fairness at least some of these bands were trying something new.
Cringe absolutely I am ashamed that I ever liked any of those bands they are commercial pop rock. No substance no talent no creativity just commercial garbage that if I could go back in time I would absolutely kick the living shit out of myself for listening to such piss poor music. Just thinking about it makes me disgusted with myself. Everything turned out for the best though I am now a proper elitist snob. Not quite Cal level elitist everything I listen to is actually good. Some of the shit Cal listens to I am convinced he only listens to because it is so obscure he can excuse it away as not being shit because it is so obscure.

System and limp bizkit both have incredibly talented drummers. In fact musically speaking, limp bizkit are talented motherfuckers as far as their ability on instruments goes. Keep rolling
