Here's the games I enjoyed most, released in 2022 (I think):
Stacklands
Mount & Blade 2
Gas Station Simulator
Cult of the Lamb
Vampire Survivors
Hardspace: Shipbreaker
Dorfromantik
Elden Ring
Return to Monkey Island
Sniper Elite 5
Probably a toss up between Elden Ring and Vampire Survivors for GOTY to me
Games not from 2022 that I've enjoyed this year:
Deathloop
Rimworld
Assassins Creed: Origins
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Death Stranding
Escape Academy
Star Wars: Fallen Order

Not sure I really played anything released in 2022, but I played the shit out of Dragon Quest XI S: Echos of a Forgotten Age, Hades, and Breath of the Wild

I only played return to Monkey Island, which was okay, and the first a Plague Tale, which was really good.

Great list HB - mine is pretty similar to yours. Glad Dorfromantik made your list!. Fantastic game.
Going to buy Cult of the Lamb in Steam Winter Sale...to try it out.

Only really played Elden RIng and as you can see haven't even got halfway.
Edit: "When focusing on the main objectives, Elden Ring is about 54½ Hours in length. If you're a gamer that strives to see all aspects of the game, you are likely to spend around 132 Hours to obtain 100% completion."
I tend to fuck around a lot it seems

According to Steam I've played 38 hours of Elden Ring - that's a decent time for me to spend in any game. I think I'd be lucky to be a third of the way through the story.
Also, I'm crap at Soulslike games, so it just takes me longer in general.

Oh it's terrible, what with all those awards and praise being heaped on it.

I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed it

Thanks I'll pass. It was slim pickings this year for good games so winning GoTY really doesn't prove much in a year of shite gaming.

There were no shortage of great games tbh. Elden Ring is as good as any GOTY - will most likely be regarded as one of the best of the decade

What are folks looking forward to this year?
Not a new release but Returnal is coming to Steam/PC in 2023. Keen for that. Atomic Heart looks mental.
