Imagine if Tool released their new album and it was 4 tracks and the whole thing clocked in at less than 10 minutes.

What the actual fuck?!?!?!

Hellboy was born in 1975.

Also, Adam Jones is recording his guitar parts which means that it is summer in the US right now.

Confused as to what the incredible new secret is? Is it that I'm 43 years old? I'm both shocked and amazed!

It doesn't matter that you're confused - only that I've been honest with you. And guitar parts are tricky at best. But the sooner that comes out the sooner we can return to normal I suppose.

its my first article i have seen, where the narrative is a sequence of message board posts
i dont know exactly how it makes me feel, but its weird for sure

he posted this, and than he posted this, and he posted this, and he posted this

its a new form of journalism, for sure, but not for the better, i guess

Would it be better if they just regurgitated that information without crediting the source?

I don't really have an issue with the format really, if that where your information is coming from there's no real reason to not just share it like that.

The problem is more that you have to generate content daily to stay relevant. 20 years ago that site would have been a magazine and so you have sites picking at trying to work with whatever small amounts of information they can get. And copying and pasting is easier than generating new content yourself.

I'd be critical, but it's more of less what I do on Fourtheye. I don't call myself a journalist though

No it is not what you do on Fourtheye. That Alternative Nation shit is click bait copy and pasting other forum posts that are just general opinions and presenting them as some kind of relevant new information. Moreover, you actually take the time to present your own thoughts and perspective on issues. No you are not a journalist in the traditional sense, but you do a damn good job and have become for many the primary source of information on all things Tool and related projects. Fuck that dipshit over at that dipshit site. He is probably a Republican as only Republicans are capable of trying to pass off half ass regurgitated bullshit as some kind of actual relevant news or information.

Vague, ambiguous, devoid of specific instances or facts. Narcissistic and high moral grandstanding.

I even checked out Hellboy's fourtheye website to see if he managed to get wind of anything via the Net, but evidently he hasn't.
Heh.. seriously though, toolband.com is useless.

you know what is the saddest thing about this whole newsletter? that the first sentences are so resonating with me

"i tried to asked about... the record... the record..."

its just seems obvious to me, that the very saddest thing about this record is that we are waiting for this for 13 years...
and even it is world shattering, it will be dull
even it is refreshing, it will feel lazy
even if it is a good piece of work, it will remind us that everybody is aging, everything is dying, and it was just a rock band with good music

you simply can not make a good record after 13 years... and its sad that you try to come back, because rock and roll means you are aligned with life at its fullest pace, metal means you are aligned with a deeper concern

coming back after 13 years? its just impossible to make an impact on me, with this huge feeling of being out of touch for 13 years
you can not be as relevant as with lateralus, aenima or undertow
so whats the point

it will be a mix of rehashed ideas and "meshuggah like" and "mastodon like" moments with a unique touch and i'll say, yeah, its a good record

but its not something that makes your whole being open up like with the cathartic moments of parabola, schism, undertow, or pushit
or stinkfist, or reflection and triad

I think it's quite possible to make a decent album after 13 years.

Jesus man do you also do children parties and weddings?? All I can think of is Seinfeld

"Well, birthdays are merely symbolic of how another year's gone by and how little we've grown. No matter how desperate we are that someday a better self will emerge, each flicker of the candles on the cake we know it's not to be. That for the rest of our sad, wretched, pathetic lives, this is who we are to the bitter end. Inevitably, irrevocably. Happy birthday? No such thing

_peterpwn just confirmed my suspicion that this band is fucked.

*edit: I can be easily swayed though.

Unrelated to the recording process, I'd like to pass on "thanks!" from the folks involved with the republishing of Donald Beaman's "Tarot of Saqqara" deck to those Tool fans who contributed pledges to the crowd-funding campaign. Good job!

i've just recently found out that Seinfeld is my favourite besides Gervais and i literally watched his best bits on youtube for hours with a bottle of wine before posting here, so you have amazed me sir, if that means anything at all
