Bandcamp Fourtheye Collection

Bandcamp is a great site, full of fantastic music that is easy to download nor does it require some kind of client, DRM free and available in plenty of formats both lossy and lossless. Recently they've also added a new Mobile app that you can download to your phone to stream your entire collection of purchased music. Fuck iTunes and the rest - almost every cent I've spent on music recently has gone via Bandcamp, and I don't see this changing any time soon.

To celebrate it's excellence, I propose we collectively create a collection of albums available on Bandcamp. The rules are as follows (rules are open to debate btw):
  1. Music be available on Bandcamp (duh)
  2. Music need not be free, but preferably all or most of the album must be available for streaming
  3. To keep out the riff raff and grindcore, music nominated must be seconded by another Fourtheye reader
  4. All genres and bands, new or old are welcome
The nomination/seconding process is easy. Just post an album you think should be on the list, and hopefully someone reading this thread will go listen to it, and if they like it will post something like "I second Artist X - Album Y".

Albums that have been successfully nominated and seconded will be listed by Genre in the post below. I'll kick us off with an album I know would be seconded by a bunch of you guys....

Discussion and nominations are welcome!

One day only - US Thanksgiving, so who knows when it will stop.

50% off with the code 'weloveyou' and bandcamp prices are pretty ridiculously low already.

Here's some albums from my BC collection. Feel free to listen an second any of them:

Totally Unicorn - Together Alone
Short 2 track EP from Wollongong's metal/hardcore outfit

Image

Call of the Void - Dragged Down A Dead End Path
Crusty metallic grind along the lines of Nails, Gaza, etc.

Image

Hydromedusa - The Rats Have My Mind EP
Hydromedusa - Hydromedusa Free!
70s styled heavy stoner rock straight outta Adelaide

Image

Kongh - Shadows of the Shapeless
Doom metal from Sweden. Got this at MOG's recommendation so I'm pretty sure he at least will back me up on this one...

Useless Children - Post Ending // Pre Completion
Post punk from Melbourne

In that case I'm promoting to the list! Congrats to UKE for being the first cab off the rank!

Ehm starting to think there should be at least 3 votes, otherwise it's going to be a rather long list.

I suggest said 'rather long list' should eventually end up in it's own stickied topic as an index list of sorts ... once the list gets to be a bit populated, of course

OR this could end up a cold, tired, hungry and generally neglected entity, much like an african child with flies on his face (or the album of the week)!

I was in two minds as to whether to require a vote or not - I figured a nomination and then seconding system would be easy to work with. I'm not against the idea of requiring more votes to make the list though, my only concern is that if we make it too hard to add albums, then this thread will slowly die. I think 3 votes (which is one more than is currently required) is certainly the most I'd like to see used.

We will end up with a long list - no doubt about that

I'll second the Sandrider nomination as well btw.

Bandcamp has a decent range of more popular music on there as well, and this one probably doesn't need an introduction or seconder, but in order to maintain the proper process.....
