I haven’t read it yet, but enjoy
orange.juice on Toolnavy posted today that he found this image on a German promoters(?) website:

Stating the bleeding obvious, it’s pretty much just an extended version of the existing 10,000 Days cover. No confirmation though whether this is official or when it’s just a fan-made rendering based on Alex Grey’s artpiece.
He also noted that one of the German shows has changed to a bigger venue. If you’re a German Tool fan, make sure you check you show hasn’t changed.
There’s also been some talk of a French show being changed as well. Looks like the Lyon show has been cancelled and moved to Grenoble. Check this website for details.
I’ve been doing a bit of surfing on the net lately, mainly hitting sites such as YouTube and Google Videos, and found some stuff, including a Tool video you guys might find interesting.
There’s a pretty huge range of stuff available, and lucky for us Tool fans, plenty of their bootlegs. You can get to the page by clicking on the link to the right, or just clicking here.
If you have any suggestions for other stuff, Tool or any other bands you think Fourth Eye readers may be interested in, feel free to email me a link, and I’ll stick it on the page.
ccornell from Toolarmy, took some time of from recording Audioslave’s new CD today, to tell us that he heard on the radio that Tool will be playing in Phoenix, Arizona sometime in May. Details are a bit sketchy on date and location, so don’t go booking your flights just yet.
Looks like you Americans will be getting a few shows before the lads head off to Europe….
Got an email from CubanPete from Toolnavy just a few moment ago, and he says JB Hi-Fi here in Australia now have 10,000 Days available on pre-order from the low, low price of $21.52. Also lists the release date as the 28th of April. Feel free to check their website out at http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/
I couldn’t find any sign of 10,000 Days in the online shop section there, but I’m sure it’ll just be a matter of time until it appears.
Lachrymotion on Toolnavy claims that 10,000 Days is now “In Transit”. This suggests that the CD’s have been printed, and are on the way to various warehouses. What does this mean for the average Tool fan. Not much, but it may not be long until one of these copies finds its way onto the net…..
klaxmexalix on Toolarmy posts that Tool will be hosting Rage (an Australian TV music video show) on Saturday the 6th of May. Make sure you tune in, and trust them to put it on a night when I can’t stay up and watch…..
There’s yet another Vicarious leak going around. This one sounds reasonably trippy and slow, but as usual the vocals and general quality of the clip lead me to think it’s yet another hoax. I’m not going to bother posting the leaks out, so don’t ask.
Finally Butcher are plaing this weekend with Isis, and Blair warns all those who plan to attend to not be late. Butcher will be playing at around 8:30.
Just read the interview with Adam from the Guitar World magazine. Thanks to dvn and boatloadoffunk on Toolnavy for the scans. Here’s some of the highlights I picked up:
- Adam uses a Talk Box during one track. Not sure if I misread it, but I got the impression it was on the track 10,000 Days.
- There’s more guitar solos on this recording.
- Justin uses a Fretless Bass.
- Maynards vocals are heavily processed and distorted. Much more part of the music than up front.
- The album is self produced, with Barresi engineering and mixing, though Joe’s role is about the same as previous producers.
- All of the members of Tool agree on Sacred Geometry.
- Adam and Joe had plenty of Pedal modifications done.
- Adam uses the Gig-FX Chopper pedal, and uses it with a volume/wah pedal to control the effect.
- All songs except for one were written before entering the studio.
- A “Pipe-bomb Mic” was used during record. It’s basically a brass tube with a guitar pickup inside used as a microphone.
- He was impressed with Bogner, Rivera and Joe’s Peavey amp, though will probably continue to use his Diezel/Marshall setup.
- “Please don’t say that I play an E-Bow” – Adam doesn’t use one apparently, despite what the E-Bow website says.
- Adams sustain comes from Attitude and Effect pedals.
- One of Maynards lyrics is “Who are you to wave your finger?”. To which Adam replied “That’s the pot calling the kettle black”. From the song The Pot?
It’s a good interview, and there’s some much I haven’t mentioned here, so do the right thing a buy the magazine when it comes out (this Wednesday I believe).
Blair posted on Toolband/Army today that Vicarious, the first single will be played on the radio on the 17th of April. No doubt it will leak before then….
As usual there’s plenty of speculation going around, primarily on the Toolnavy boards. Systolic seems to think that the radio station he knows has the single, and was going to play it on the 3rd of April (with permission of management). Now they’re not so sure, however he assures us the single will leak this week regardless.
Ghostof747, also on Toolnavy announced that he too heard the track from a radio station mate (wish I had a radio station friend) and he posted some tabs. He promised a cut from the single (he only had it on tape apparently) but as yet nothing has come of this.
Personally, i’m getting a little sick of all the rumour mongering. Whether or not these guys are on the level, there’s just too much crap going around, far more than what I remember from the Lateralus days.
The good news is, it’s not much longer now. Just 30 days to go………………………..
Signed Vinyl is available on Toolarmy RIGHT NOW. Better get there quick, only 50 copies……
Still available as I write this…..
