Finnish Maynard Interview

The Betterfly on Toolarmy posted an interview with Maynard on TA boards this morning. Here’s some highlights:

A huge thanks to Joe Barresi who spent lots of time and effort working on (especially) guitar sounds. I think “10,000 Days” is overall more “raw” sounding than “Lateralus” or “Aenima” and you have to go back all the way to “Undertow” to find similar soundscapes.

“Lipan Conjuring” is Danny’s little song which he made with his friend Tom Brown. It’s an Lipan-apache exorcism, kinda like a situation check and strengthening your roots.

We are not gonna play this album thru as a whole live. That kinda fate i wouldnt want for anyone. But as the tour goes on we will include some songs on our setlist.

Stereoscopic Ark Hoax

Mr. Beadle emailed me this morning with this long email outlining the Stereoscopic Ark hoax that he perpatrated.

OK, seeing as the real thing is leaking now – and there is nothing I
can do about that – I think its time I stepped up and owned up to
this. Its been fun.

When the first tool scans leaked I saw an opportunity, it started as
a game, a bit of fun because I didn’t for one second think anyone
would buy what I was doing. But you did. Lots of you did, so I went
further, I did more. Im flattered by all of you who debated my shit,
whether you liked it or not. I’de like to apologize to all the
people who may have been staring into computer screens believing the
following images to be stereoscopic, they are not – but you know what
they say; “lie to yourself enough and it becomes truth” – im flattered.

I’de also like to add that Tool are a fucking great band. I didn’t
do this to rip them off. I did it out of curiosity, nothing more.

Right, now I know there will be the inevitable doubters out there, so
I better set about proving myself, along with a bit of shameless self
promotion.

10,000 Days Shortage Update

JB Hi-Fi has updated their website regarding the Australian 10,000 Days shortage, to say the following:

Updated information as of 23rd April: we are quietly confident we will be receiving additional stock of this album – while this cannot be guaranteed, we do suggest that you put your orders in straight away to get to the front of the line. We hope to be able to post a definite answer online by Wednesday the 26th – please check back then and find out more…

More Packaging, Brisbane Midnight Sale

Toolshed.it have recently posted this alleged picture of the packaging.  It’s all starting to fall into place…..

Murdoch tells me that Skinnys Record Store in Brisbane are having a midnight 10,000 Days sale:

TOOL “10,000 DAYS”

The countdown is on  for one of the most anticipated albums of 2006. That’s right Tool are back with a new album titled 10,000 Days, and it gets released in Australia before anywhere else in the world. Yes that is correct, we get it before the USA…so to be the first person in the world to get a copy be here at Skinny’s at Midnight on April 29th (when Friday the 28th turns into Saturday the 29th). We will have it ready to go for all you true Tool fans out there…SO BE THERE!!

10,000 Days Package, Insanity

The Tool Hotline has been posting some pictures of the 10,000 Days packaging. It looks like it will include some special glasses to view the stereoscopic images. Here’s a pic to whet your appetite.

And just for the record, I think any of you out there who believe 10,000 Days is some sort of hoax are insane. There I said it.

I think it’s a great recording, those who don’t that’s fine, but stop deluding yourself that it’s some kind of fake. On the other hand, I sure do look forward to being owned by the band if there is another CD coming out shorty…..

10,000 Days Shortage

Nemesis emailed me today saying:

I just pre-ordered 10,000 days, the guy in the store was on the phone while I waited and he says ‘hey, how many Tool are you getting…. yeah, whats the go there!?’. I said, thats actually why i’m here, is it worthwhile pre-ordering Tool, and he said that they’re only getting 10 copies. Apparently Australia ordered 50,000 but are only getting 20,000 copies for some reason.
There will eventually be more, but if you want it Friday afternoon (thats when he said to pick up my copy), it might pay for fans to pre-order!
JB Hi-Fi also seem to confirm this on their website.  If you want the CD straight away, it may pay to pre-order ASAP.
