Thanks to all of you who have contributed reviews.  There are several there now, including one from myself.  Keep them coming.

If you’ve already posted a review, bear in mind that I am happy to post secondary reviews if you feel differently about the CD after you’ve had time to properly ingest it.

I’ve just listened to the 3 previous albums in a row, and I stick by my review.

Yeah, it sucks, and I think it’s fake. If it’s not fake, then Tool is releasing crap just to quickly fulfill on their contract with Volcano.

I figured out the album meaning….10,000 days from 2006 is roughly 1979. 1979 is when the YMCA sued the village people. way to keep it real guys.

You know, at first I didn’t like it. They sometimes seem to favor going off in tagents that lack any real substance. That doesn’t count for Danny of course. They could play nothing but solid D chords for two minutes (and often do) and he still makes ya sit through it all. That said, there are definitely at least three solid radio osngs no this disc. If they shave 2 minutes off of them anyway. Why don’t they just do that to start with? Do they all just sit around comparing boners after playing one song for 11 minutes? I… Read more »

it’s sad listening to small minded people talk trash about this album. tool has only gotten better. they make lack some their youthful exitement, but they make up for it with their maturity. this album is definately their best effort yet. well, constructed and expertly performed. before talking shit about 10k days, listen to it, i mean really listen to it. now just have it play is the background hoping for some catchy riff. if you want to hear trendy pop music turn on trl. if you want to hear rock gods show us what their made up, crank up… Read more »

i think the people mad are just turned off by maynards vocals, and if you just care about vocals you probly shouldn’t be into prog music. musically this album is steller and thats all the really matters

this album is fucking brilliant. im not sure why all of the negativity is filling this page because 10000 days picks up where lateralus left off. To sum it up, this album is a trip.

give it time…everyone needs to give it time. if you think it sucks…give it a second chance…if you think its brilliant give it more time to suck maybe… its like a cancer. you just have to let it grow on you. then we can all be happy chemo friends.

I love this tool releases the most important work since dark side of the moon or 2112 and people are griping because it doesn’t sound like ticks and leeches or f’ing aenima, go ram yourselves heaven forbid they should try something new

I am sorry to say but they underachieved big time. Compared to their masterpiece Aenema it sucks. i like something new but new in this case doensn’t mean better. i am a big fan but what happened to maynard’s great voice; the songs are sung without any real emotion. For example, Pot is soft version of Hooker..it misses the raw anger. And definetly no song equals the brilliance of a song like pushit.

ray…you’re missing the point of a new album. they already wrote those songs. if you like them, and i do as well, go listen to them. Why would i buy an album full of other aenima tracks, or undertow or lateralus tracks.. c’mon. Maynards great voice is still there. he’s using it like an instrument. Why would you play the same thing over and over again. It’s you’re right not to like it. just dont like it for good reasons, not stupid ones. pull your head out of your ass. i keep mine halfway out. i do like the smell.… Read more »

SCOTT says, “I would suggest tripping when listening to the album, but smoking some good pot makes for a good experience too.”

lol, so i have to take hallucinating drugs or atleast be “high” to fully experience this album? lmao okaaay, whats that say either about YOU or the album?

I’m just reposting this from elsewhere on this site: The “new” album is a joke. Or rather, I hope it is. When the actual album is released in a couple of weeks, I hope it is far different than this piece of garbage. The album basically sounds like the whole band got high over the weekend and had a couple of jam sessions, then put a little bit of production into the recordings… the guitar riffs are basically just odd renditions of stuff off of Aenima and lateralus, and many of the drum parts are done with a damned machine.… Read more »

I kind of agree with that, then again i don’t. Yes there are some recurring themes from previous songs/albums, but each time they occur i think it’s to reinforce a thematic point previously made before. ie.The parts of Vicarious that sound straight out of the grudge or schism, coupled with the lyric “I shouldn’t have to say this all again”? And i think to a degree aside from the overt lyrics of a war being watched on tv, it seems to me that in the subtext of the song they are all saying “this is a style we’ve mastered, here… Read more »

Okay, this is not my favorite album the guys have done, but everyone saying it is shit doesnt know shit about music! The songs are composed using intricate polyrhythms, emotional guitar playing, and interesting vocals. I love the fact that Maynard is trying different ways to express himself vocally (both rhythmically and melodically), it’s fucking great. I also love how unified the band sounds, the drums and guitar dance together in polyrhythmic unison. Yes, there are some riffs that sound very similar to others in the past, but I think this more than anything can be attributed to Adam’s style… Read more »

Well if you think this album is fake. . .your really setting yourself up to be disappointed on the second. At first I didn’t like it much. . .it sounded to much like APC, not tool. Rosetta Stoned, Intension and Right In Two are fucking awesome right in a row. The second half has a much different feel to it, I like it a lot more. The first half is more like APC for me. . .I swear there are parts where he sings the exact same way . . . If you don’t like it now. . i’m sure… Read more »

I don`t know I`m pretty confused with new album.
melody from lost keys is great but background chant is pathetic.
the song seems to be too much complicated even for them, and I must say that I`m dissapointed a little with maynard`s performance, he doesn`t have that “tension” in his voice, years or apc? you judge. Adam busted his ass properly with guitars, but some off his riffs are quite recognizeable.

maybe after 10,000 listenings I will change my mind.

After listening to this album many times now.. I realize that there really wasnt a “APC Maynard” and a “Tool” Maynard”… it’s just the direction he was heading in vocally over-all… and i like it!
