In what’s turning out to be a busy day for A Perfect Circle announcements, it seems as though they will also be playing at the Ottawa Bluesfest on the 10th of July. This festival, which spans a couple of weeks is bringing a pretty amazing lineup of acts including Soundgarden, Huey Lewis & the News, Joe Satriani and Shpongle. The official website seems to be having problems at the moment, but you can check details here.

Red Bacteria Vacuum announced as APC support
Japanese all girl punk band Red Bacteria Vacuum have been announced as the support act for A Perfect Circle’s 2011 US Tour. According to the Facebook post they will open for all dates excluding festivals. Here’s a Youtube clip for you to enjoy:
A Perfect Circle playing Lollapalooza
As I predicted a little while back, A Perfect Circle were today announced as part of the Lollapalooza lineup for 2011. A Perfect Circle seem to be one of the second tier acts, and other bands joining them on the three day festival include Foo Fighters, Ween, Muse, Deftones, Death From Above 1979 and The Cars. Overall it seems like a quite reasonable lineup, and much lighter on shitty metal than other festivals they’re playing.
According to the website, the only tickets left are 3-Day passes, so I hope you had the foresight to get an earlybird ticket if APC are legitimately the only band you fancy on the lineup…
Pro-shot APC Imagine Live
Here’s a nice pro-shot video of A Perfect Circle playing Imagine, released as a promo for Edgefest 2011:
Can’t wait to see if some kind of Live DVD is released, though I’ve learnt to not hold my breath…

All VIP tickets are on sale via this site at 7am Pacific! I look forward to reading a whole bunch of posts cursing Ticketbastard in the morning!
A Perfect Circle VIP Details announced
A Perfect Circle announced details of the VIP tickets via Facebook a little while ago. I know you’re all dying to know them so without further ado:
- Package #1 (Sound Check Pass, $175): one premium location ticket, early entrance to venue, access to APC sound check, ltd edition signed APC 2011 tour lithograph and exclusive APC 2011 tour sound check pass. 4 ticket limit per person.
- Package #2 (Wine Tasting & Sound Check Pass, $200): pre-show wine tasting, one premium location ticket, early entrance to venue, access to APC sound check, ltd edition signed APC 2011 tour lithograph and exclusive APC 2011 tour sound check pass. 4 ticket limit per person.
So there you go, personally I think the $175 ticket sounds like pretty good value. $25 extra for some wine tasting sounds a little much to me though.
All VIP tickets go on sale via the A Perfect Circle site on Friday (no time confirmed yet), with links to the sales appearing on Thursday evening.
A Perfect Circle shows on sale April 8th
A promised, A Perfect Circle have suppled some on-sale information for each of their tour dates. Tickets will go on sale at varying times on the 8th of April, and links to the ticket sales can be found on the Perfect Circle website.
From what I’ve heard, tickets are about $72, though this may vary from venue to venue. VIP tickets are also available for each of the shows, and presumably include a meet & greet as well as a bag of treats.
March Tool Newsletter, Other Stuff!
I had a busy day yesterday ingesting more beer than my body can safely hand. Fitting then that Blair releases the March 2011 Newsletter on Toolband that get the collection nuts of Fourtheye abuzz with excitement. Here’s an excerpt:
In the spirit of this newsletter about Tool memorabilia, "Merch" is going to be putting some nice stuff in the store tomorrow (consider this a head’s up). These items will include vintage tee-shirts (those now out of circulation), tour posters (maybe even a couple of signed ones), and at least one real gem that will have some fans salivating. In the meantime, keep hunting for those Tool rarities. They would sure look good next to that souvenir tour poster that you purchased at the last show.
Well all love a bit of Tool merch, and I know many of you have been hitting up Toolarmy in readiness for this sale, however as I write this tomorrow has yet to arrive and there are no goodies on the site. Perhaps tomorrow tomorrow… Looks like stuff is there – check the Collectibles section!
In other news, A Perfect Circle will be announcing on-sale details for their summer tour on the 4th of April. Presumably this will be the times that tickets go on sale and at what outlets. There doesn’t seem to be any sign of further dates, however there is plenty of speculation (and a gap in the schedule) suggesting that A Perfect Circle could be one of the acts on Lollapallooza this year.
Speaking of APC, drummer Josh Freese has released another range of unique purchase options for his latest EP My New Friends. The $75k package which included a ride in Danny’s Lamborghini was offered, and as I write this appears to have finally sold to someone! Presumably it was purchased for me as a gift for my birthday later this month – thanks in advance!
Tool merch is cool and all, but nothing would beat owning a genuine piece of Melvins history! Point your credit cards at this Ebay auction and buy King Buzzo’s old Hiwatt Cabinet. Current bidding puts it at US$405. Bargain!
New A Perfect Circle tracks, but no new album
I just read on Blabbermouth that while A Perfect Circle do have some new songs (which they hope to play on the coming tour) there are no plans to record them or a full album just yet:
Howerdel said A PERFECT CIRCLE will be “playing some of the new songs,” on this tour, “so that’s always an exciting prospect.”
“We’re still kind of in the creative process of them, but we have every intention of playing them live,” he added. “I’m really looking forward to it. I’m also looking forward to getting back on a tour and playing big enough places to actually have a production of sorts.”
Howerdel also said the while he’s excited for the new songs, don’t expect a new CD…yet. “No album right now,” he said. “Songs will trickle in as they’re written and as needed, so maybe next year that will come together as a bigger collection of songs. But right now, there won’t be an album.”
A link to the full interview (a podcast I haven’t listened to) can be found in the original link.
In other APC news, it would appear that a lack of a show in Chicago, as well as a gap in the touring schedule could suggest that an appearance at Lollapalooza is on the cards…

Where the leaves Tool no one really knows. I’ve heard that they are working very hard on the next album, and my understanding is that songwriting is pretty advanced, but unless they plan on starting to record the album in the next couple of weeks (which is not outside the realms of possibility), I’m not sure I can see a release happening this year…
