Adam Jones has revealed via Instagram that Tool‘s Aftershock show almost didn’t go ahead due to Danny suffering from a serious staph infection:
~ Great crowd at #AfterShock festival. Thank you Sacramento‼️ I truly have to respect Mr #DannyCarey who played the entire show with a very serious Staph Infection. At first on Friday morning he was misdiagnosed with a poisonous spider bite on his upper leg. Then later Friday night the quarter sized wound was cut opened & drained. By Saturday DC was still aching from head to toe & from what I heard the Local Doctor recommended we skip the show. But Dan with headaches & painful joints played anyway… 👊🏽💪🏽 #Tool #Hero #BestDrummerInTheWorld #stubborn #getWellSoon #theshowmustgoon *vid shot by @justinroberts
The good new is that Blair also commented on the problem, and suggested that Danny is already feeling better, so here’s hoping the rest of the tour goes as planned!
BMB: In speaking with Danny tonight, he is feeling better (happy for a Chief’s victory), following the doctor’s orders the best that he can, and NOT ruling out a venomous spider bite. Even though the doctors’ who worked on his leg on Friday thought it would be better if he didn’t play the show, Danny insisted on performing. As always – a real trouper, Tool fans!
