April Tool’s Day with Alex Grey

A recent post by Blair on Toolband refers to an event called April Tool’s Day to be held at the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors.  This even hosted by Alex Grey will feature a talk about Tool, as well as screenings of Vicarious and Parabola.  It’ll also feature a set from a local Tool cover band Schism.  Sounds like an interesting evening!

Melvins Sidewave, More Alex Grey Oz Shows

Firstly The Melvins will now be playing a Sidewave with Primus in Sydney on the 28th of February at the Enmore Theatre.  According to the blurb the gig will be all ages and goes on sale on the 14th of January via Ticketek.

THE ASTOR THEATRE, ST. KILDA
Melbourne’s historic Astor Theatre, built in the 1930s, has a unique element of elegance and art-deco charm within its walls, providing a perfectly warm atmosphere for Alex and Allyson Grey to showcase their work through a variety of mediums.
The Astor Theatre is a cinema in the grand, old manner. The theatre’s proud boast is Fine Films and Atmosphere and the varied programme and “old-world” charm reflect this. When you walk intoThe Astor you are transported back to the days when going to the cinema was an EVENT

Makes the idea of coming to Melbourne a little more attractive, though I’m still waiting for a sideshow before I make that decision.

Thanks to Terry for the tip!

Tool goodies on Ebay

A range of Tool related merch has appeared on Ebay today – collectors should check out the following items:

Happy shopping!  And if you ever want to buy anything of Amazon or a range of other joints, check out my buddies website CamelCamelCamel.

Playing Catchup!

I’ve been quite busy the last few days, so have a few bits and pieces to post, none of which are amazingly exciting though.  At least it will clear my Inbox!  I may also get around to posting my Soundwave review which is sitting in my Drafts folder!

The most important one is that Alex Grey and his wife were involved in a serious car accident last week.  They both have a few injuries, but nothing life threatening at this stage.  Most details on this accident can be found as the COSM blog.

Tubbs sent me an email the other day with a link to a Lateralus Signed Vinyl action on Ebay.  Looks authentic and in good condition, so worth checking out for those interested in acquiring one of these increasingly hard to obtain collectables.

Oldesch came across a few Tool based Persona’s for the Firefox browser the other day.  Persona’s are basically their new name for themes.  Check them out:

If anyone else has any other Tool, APC, Puscifer, etc. themes for any medium that Fourtheye readers would enjoy, then feel free to send them to me.

New Tool Backdrop For Sale

According to a recent email from the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, the new Tool backdrop, entitled “Original Face” can be purchased from their online store for US$300:

Our favorite band, Tool, is on a fourteen city tour and their backdrop for these shows is an unusual work of art by Alex Grey, entitled “Original Face.” Grey’s painting shows fountains of neon spirit illuminating the void, and life as a ripple in the stream of Eternal Light.

Now this artwork can be yours by purchasing a limited edition canvas print, size 12 x 42 inches, stretched and ready for hanging. Hand signed and numbered in an edition of 250, yours for $300.

I haven’t posted a picture of it to avoid spoiling it for those that are yet to see Tool live, but it can be viewed here (and on Toolband).

Toronto Rumour, Danny’s Drum

Got an email today talking of “rumours flying around” about a Toronto Tool gig at the Molson Ampitheatre on the 7th of August. Seems to fit into their current schedule, but I’ve heard nothing concrete at this stage.  Have added this to the rumours section on the  Tour Page.

Also, Blair posted an article on Toolband talking about a Volto! gig on the 5th of June.  Included with the article is this cool pic of Danny with a snare drum featuring some Alex Grey artwork.
