Slow News Week

Not much has happened this week, so here’s a few  Tool and non-Tool related items I noticed going on.

The Puscifer store is either open, or opening very soon Jerome Arizona according to a post from Blair on Toolband.  Not doubt most of the merchandise available from the Puscifer online store can also be had there.

Daily Grail are having a donation drive at the moment, and are offering a few prizes including a print of Maynard’s Sieben artwork.  Some of you will remember that these prints have been available on Toolarmy in the past, and I imagine there’s not many left, since they’re no longer available for purchase.  Make a donation a Daily Grail to be in the running.

The Big Day Out festival lineup was announced during the week, with what I think is a pretty uninspiring lineup.  Highlights include Neil Young, Arctic Monkeys, Cog, The Prodigy and more.  I think I’ll give it a miss this year and see Nine Inch Nails at Soundwave.

Tool Newsletter, Wine Signings

The Augustember edition of the Tool newsletter is now out on Toolband/Army, and as promised it largely talks about Danny & Blair’s recent trip to Maynard’s Vineyard. A somewhat interesting read but don’t expect much Tool insight.

There’s also some more information regarding Maynard’s upcoming Wine Signing Sessions at Whole Foods Markets about the place:

“Vineyard owners Maynard James Keenan and Eric Glomski kick off signings of 2007 Arizona Stronghold “Tazi,” “Mangus,” and “Nachise” beginning Sept. 16 in Pasadena.”

About Arizona Stronghold Vineyards

“ASV lies at the eastern edge of Sulfur Springs Valley, in Cochise County (alongside the Wilcox Playa) in a small, unincorporated area known as the Kansas Settlement. The vineyard site is 80 acres with 66 acres currently under vine. Co-owned by Eric Glomski (Page Springs Cellars) and Maynard James Keenan (Caduceus Cellars/Merkin Vineyards), ASV’s mission is to present affordable top quality Arizona wine made by passionate Arizona based winemakers. Keenan says of the vineyard, “One of our many goals here in Arizona is to establish a cornerstone around which locally owned and operated, sustainable and organic industries can thrive.”

Puscifer Store Opening Soon

According to a new paste on the Puscifer Myspace page, a physical Puscifer Store will be opening soon in Jerome, Arizona:

Hopefully by Oct 1st, we’ll be able to say it’s official, THE 1ST EVER Puscifer store will be opening. Ground Zero is Jerome, Arizona. It’s a small space above Jerome Tattoo, and across from Puffin Stuff in the Verde Apartment Complex. We’re still in the painting and renovation stage. As always things take a little longer and cost twice what you might expect, but we’re making headway.

He also mentions that there’s a Mamma Sed video on it’s way.  No word on whether it’s another Meats Meier effort.

Not about rock dudes

According to a post by Maynard on the Asylum messageboard:

Please don’t bring previously purchased bottles to this signing.
It’s illegal to bring bottles in that were not purchased at Whole Foods.
You will be required to purchase a bottle there for signing.
and PLEASE don’t bring band related items.
This event is about the birth of Arizona Stronghold Vineyards.
Not about rock dudes.

Thanks to Khadgar346 for the tip.

Meet Maynard

Maynard is scheduled to appear at food markets in Chandler and Scottsdale, Arizona next week, signing bottles of his wine. According to this article:

We will be hosting Maynard Keenan (co-founder of TOOL) and his partner Eric Glomski, Winemaker for Page Spring Cellars. They will be signing bottles of their locally produced wines; Caduceus, Merkin, and Arizona Stronghold.

This event will showcase the local winemaking talent in Arizona and further highlights the range of local products available at Whole Foods Market.

If anyone gets a chance to go, make sure you ask him what Tool are up to.
