Not a big surprise to me, but it’s been confirmed by Blair on Toolband/Army that there will be no guests on the new CD, deceased or otherwise. Tool aren’t really know for having lots of guest on their recorded work (live almost the opposite) so it doesn’t really surprise me much.
Hope they had a good party with Buzz, Josh, Aaron and anyone else who dropped in.
Blair on Toolband/army has confirmed that Tool will be the headline act for the Coachella Festival. Apparently there will be more info in this in the next few days. Not sure what other info they plan to supply, but if you want info regarding ticket sales etc. then I’d suggest you head over to the Coachella Website.
Blair also mentioned that Selma has stopped dancing, and that the record was mastered on the 31st of January. All that’s left now is the artwork, promotion and the release, presumably either the 11th, 18th or 25th of April.
As it now stands, in a few weeks (mid-February) the members of the band (except for Adam) and their manager will be traveling to parts of Europe, England, Japan and Australia on a bit of a promo tour, meaning that they will be meeting with record company people and doing various interviews with the press in order to promote their new record and upcoming tours. Although any press releases are usually timed to coincide with the release of the record, there will undoubtedly be leaks, so those of you who scour the internet should be on the lookout around this time. As the others field questions and deal with promo issues abroad, Adam will remain in Los Angeles to direct the new Tool video.
Exciting stuff. I guess some big announcements are imminent.
Blair also confirmed that the next batch of Lateralus Signed Vinyl will be available on the 28th of January, and that he hopes to announce an approximate time soon. As usual, good luck to all those Fourth Eye readers in the market for a copy, and remember when you do get one, send me the pics!
Just to keep us on our toes, Blair has also released the January Newsletter, which with the help of a Ouija Board, answers some further questions on the new Tool CD. My Ouija skills are a bit rusty, but it looks as though the CD won’t be released anytime before the 4th of April.
It also looks like the next release of the next Signed Lateralus Vinyl batch will be on the 28th of January.

As I’ve been saying, the record is still being MIXED. The band is nearly finished with this (one epic song to go), but then there is MASTERING, let alone having the CDs pressed. It’s a spring release, although you will most likely get to hear a single prior to that. I’m not sure what you mean by the date has passed. Actually, it hasn’t. Also, there is a CONNECTION between two dates that no one has mentioned (or figured out, but this will soon change). Members of TA and Tool fans will get some additional info later TODAY, and again in the next couple of days,although it would be better coming from the band members themselves (more news about this, also in a few days).
The guys are hard at work completing the mix (in fact, Danny called me from the studio at 1:45 AM about getting together for a JAN 17th drink (which we’ve done for about 15 years, usually after the Lodge business is taken care of). This should tell you that they’re working overtime to finish a record that all of us who’ve heard it consider to be their best yet!

The November newsletter is finally up on Toolband, and it’s a two parter. The first half is found here, while the second half is found on the Butcher website. There’s a link at the bottom of the first half just in case you miss it.
I’ve only skimmed through it, but it doesn’t look like there’s any (non-cryptic) info on the new Tool CD. Sounds interesting though, Mexico has always been on my list of places to visit.
Blair has written on Toolband/Army that there will be a Spring 2006 Tool release, though it won’t be March. Apparently they’re still working on the final mixing, segues, etc.
For those mathematically inclined Blair has left a clue as to how much longer the mixing process has left until completion. Feel free to post your results below…
Blair posted on Toolarmy today, that it’s higly likely that there will be more Signed Lateralus Vinyl. Not details as yet, but as soon a “Merch” knows, all will be revealed.
He also revealed that he has interviewed someone (a band member – it’s all to cryptic for me) regarding the New CD, and will be sharing this information as soon as he can transfer it from his voice recorder.
Go and spoil yourself with a super expensive present…
