More Signed Vinyl, New CD Details to come….

Blair posted on Toolarmy today, that it’s higly likely that there will be more Signed Lateralus Vinyl. Not details as yet, but as soon a “Merch” knows, all will be revealed.

He also revealed that he has interviewed someone (a band member – it’s all to cryptic for me) regarding the New CD, and will be sharing this information as soon as he can transfer it from his voice recorder.

Schism/Parabol(a) DVD details Emerge

The DVD’s have starting arriving at various parts of the US, and so far it sounds pretty good. Blair has posted some pictures of the menu on on Toolband/Army . Dranyam from TA has revealed that the commentry is provided the David Yow (ex- Jesus Lizard) on Schism, and Jello Biafra on the Parabola videos. Dammit I want mine now…..

Toolarmy members will also notice a couple of changes in the welcome message. What’s that humming in the background?

DVD’s also available on TA

Blair has made a couple of posts on TA. The first one suggests that the Tool DVD’s will be available on Friday to order from the Bazaar. This orders will be collected over the weekend and then shipped on the following Monday and Tuesday, so any Americans should recieve them before they hit the shops. Other people like me will have to wait a little longer I suppose, but I’d rather stuff Tool’s pockets with money than Sanity’s. Now word on whether or not the Signed Vinyl will also be included in that shipping….

Blair also put an article up regarding the recently released “Turn Off Your Television” Shirt where Maynard gives us some details on it. They also mention that there’s only “Some final tweaking, segues, art direction, etc.” left to go with the new CD.

I should also mention that according to Buddyhead (a punk label allegedly), Maynard will be appearing in the movie Sideways II. I’ve never heard of Sideways 1 so I’m sure it’s going to be great……

More Vinyl Info from Blair

Found on Toolarmy regarding the signed Lateralus Vinyl:

They are not individually numbered. I believe that they are factory sealed, so my advice would be to get a re-sealable protective cover if you open it (and I’m sure many will open the album – those whose intent isn’t to put it on ebay). Each copy is individually signed by all four band members (one per side on the ‘slicks’ (the special process I mentioned earlier). The number of copies is between 250 – 300. I’m not sure about any other distinguishing features as I didn’t really examine any of the signed copies that closely (and I don’t have one). I know that Adam put various little drawings in silver ink along with his signature ON THE SIGNED COPIES OF SALIVAL, but I don’t think he did this on the vinyl. His signature, itself, is artwork, though (have you seen it?). Hope you enjoy your copy.

Vinyl Update, Volto

Blair has posted some final info the on Vinyl release. It will be Friday afternoon US/Arizona? time. If you need a little help translating times to your timezoe, use this little tool. I would imagine the vagueness around the time of release is deliberate in order to ‘randomise’ the process a little more. For those Australians out there, the approximate time will be around 8am Saturday morning, so no partying this Friday night!

In further posts made by Blair, he also suggests that there are around 200 copies of the vinyl around the place, 93 of which were sold during the chat. This leaves around 100 left, so for those of you in the hunt, be prepared to not get a copy. Once again, to all you readers looking for a copy, good luck!

Finally Volto are playing at the Baked Potato on Thursday the 8th of December. If you’re going, make a booking, since it’s only a small venue.

Signed and Unsigned Vinyl available Nov 25th

Blair has posted on Toolarmy that the Signed Lateralus Vinyl will be available on Friday November the 25th. No time was announced, though Blair mentioned he’d try and get that information out to members before it happens. No other details were offered but presumably the cost will remain the same (US$100 + US$16 shipping to Australia) and that members will be limited to one each. There was also no indication on how many would be available, and if this will be the final opportunity to get a copy. Remember, you need to be a Toolarmy member to be able to get yourself a copy (or should I say have a chance to get a copy….)

Good luck to all you readers who wasn’t able to get one the first time around. Personally I’m pretty happy I’ve got mine, one because I wouldn’t like to be running the gauntlet of server drop-outs, etc and also because I’ll be away in Sydney that week, which would severly limit my ability to get online to order.

Finally, any World of Warcraft players out there, feel free to let me know and maybe we can meet up some time….

Halloween Newsletter

It’s up now. It doesn’t contain much new Tool information to the untrained eye (ie. mine). It does dispell a few myths regarding the recent TA Chat.

For those of you who complain that Blair’s newsletters never contain any useful information, then you won’t be swayed by this latest one at all. Personally I like them, so Blair, just in case you’re reading, keep up the good work.

And Danny, if you’re reading, you look really goofy in those overalls. Was the party a dress up or something? What were you listening to on the iPod by the way?

It also mentions that Chet Zar has a new show coming up at the Copronason Gallery in November. If you’re in LA, then I’d recommend you check it out!

Finally, the newsletter mentions that “Halloween Barbie says hopefully there will be something in the pumpkin patch soon” Stay tuned I suppose!

New Tool Merch.

Yaz from Toolarmy reports that there is a new selection of Caps, Beanies and T-Shirts on the Tool website. Highlights include a cool looking Grey Beanie, and this new Undertow T-Shirt. Make sure you don’t spend all your money before the second batch of Signed Vinyl arrives.

Also, in a private email to a Toolnavy member, Blair has said that the October newsletter will hold some new information regarding the new CD, alluding to the fact that the name of it may be revealed. Will this really happen? Probably not, but at least it gives us something to look forward to in the next few days.
