Danny’s Arm, Butcher

Just a couple of snippets of news from Toolband/Army.  As well as wishing happy birthday to Minsun, and reminding us of a VOLTO! show on Friday the 19th of October, Blair tells us that Danny has had some followup surgery on his arm. From the tone of the post it doesn’t sound like anything too serious, but we all hope there are no further complications regardless.

They also remind us that Butcher are playing at the Knitting Factory on Tuesday the 16th of October, and that they go on stage at 8pm.  Don’t leave it too late!

Butcher Show, Lustmord Interview

Butcher, featureing Adam‘s wife Camella, as well as Sasha are playing at the Knitting Factory in LA on the 16th of October.  No word on who might be supporting the band, but apparently they will be debuting their new bass player.  More details may be found on the Butcher website, though as I write this there are no further details than what I’ve already given you.

Alterati have posted part one of a two part interview with Lustmord.  I haven’t listened to it yet, but no doubt it’ll be an interesting one.

Back in Black

I arrived back home in sunny Yeppoon a few hours ago and though I’d drop you all a quick line letting you know that I’m back, and that Fourth Eye will resume it’s normal programming tomorrow.  That’s not to say Charred Remains did a bad job, in fact it looks like he’s done a pretty damn good one….

The honeymoon was awesome!  Jo and I saw plenty of amazing animals in San Diego, were blinded by the lights in Vegas, scaled Hoover Dam, checked out Elton John, drove on the wrong side of the road, saw the Hollywood sign, purchased cheap booze, perfume and guitar pedals, and much much more.  I might share a few photos and some other details later.

In other news, it looks like Butcher are looking for a new bass player.  According to Camella’s Myspace site:

We are seeking a new bass player to write, record and play live with. If you love heavy music, and are looking for a project to pour your guts into, check out Butcher (http://myspace.com/butcherband) e-mail a demo of your music to: butcher@butcherband.com

Scott will always be heart and soul Butcher, and will continue to work with us in a limited capacity. Scott could not continue balancing a 90 mile drive to and from practice.

I guess the implication there is that you must be available for rehersal frequently, and presumeably either live in LA or don’t mind travelling.

Tickets to the Sydney show are still available, though they’re all pretty much on the side of the stage (I checked less that 1/2 an hour ago).  Having sat in one of these before, I gotta say they aren’t as bad as they seem, and sure beats not being there.  Get in quick!

Rage, Leak, Butcher

klaxmexalix on Toolarmy posts that Tool will be hosting Rage (an Australian TV music video show) on Saturday the 6th of May. Make sure you tune in, and trust them to put it on a night when I can’t stay up and watch…..

There’s yet another Vicarious leak going around. This one sounds reasonably trippy and slow, but as usual the vocals and general quality of the clip lead me to think it’s yet another hoax. I’m not going to bother posting the leaks out, so don’t ask.

Finally Butcher are plaing this weekend with Isis, and Blair warns all those who plan to attend to not be late. Butcher will be playing at around 8:30.

Alex Grey Comments, Butcher/Volto/Tool Live

In the recent CoSM Newsletter, it briefly talks about the 10,000 Days artwork. Nothing particularly new though:

Many fans have inquired regarding the album art TOOL has released on Amazon for pre-sale of the album. The cover is an adaptation of Alex Grey’s painting, Net of Being.

Blair on Toolband/Army posts today that Butcher played recently with some disturbing new artwork. He also mentions that Volto are playing in the near future, and that you should catch them now, as they may not be playing again for a while. They’re playing the Knitting Factory on March the 31st and then the La Ve Lee in April sometime. Danny will be too cought up in the machine called Tool to play more shows, so if you want to see them, see them now!

Speaking of Tool, they’re apparently getting ready for Coachella on April 30, and according to Blair “any other shows the might decide to do”…..

Singles, Butcher, Artwork, Tours

A couple of quick snippets from around the web:

It’s been mentioned in several places, in particular on Toolnavy that US radio will be playing the new single sometime between the 12th and the 17th of April.  Not long to go now.  Of course if memory serves me correctly, Schism was available from the Tool website a good week or so before Triple J played it for the first time here in Australia.  Maybe we’ll be getting it sooner than we think?

According to Blair of Toolband/Army Butcher will be playing on the 29th of March at The Scene with Mother Tongue and Wulf Hammir.  Don’t forget about the upcoming shows with Isis either….

Blair also commented on the recent artwork posted on Toolband, and mentioned that essentially it’s a picture generated to be sent of to website which need to have some form of visual reference for the CD.  This certainly suggests that the actual artwork may something ‘undisplayable’ with a normal picture.  It’s probably a safe bet that it’s not the actual artwork, only an approximation of it.

Finally, according to JB77 on Toolnavy, Triple J confirmed that Tool will be touring Australia shortly after the release of the new album, but no dates have been confirmed.  Though in light of the recent Japanese Festival announcement, it’s most likely to be mid to late August.

Billboard, Amazon, Isis+Butcher

According the Billboard:

Rock act Tool will break a five-year silence on May 2 with its next album, “10,000 Days.”

No other details have yet been revealed about the Volcano Records project, which is the follow-up to 2001′s “Lateralus.” That set debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 2.3 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Tool will play its first U.S. show since late 2002 when it headlines the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on April 30 in Indio, Calif. No other U.S. dates have been confirmed.

Afterward, Tool will spend the first portion of the summer playing the European festival circuit, with dates on tap from May 26 in Lisbon through July 9 at Finland’s Turku Festival.

Nothing new there, but it’s good to hear yet more confirmation of the release date.

Also a couple of people have mentioned that the new CD is also being listed on Amazon.com. Again, no real news there, but good to see none the less.

Finally, Blair mentioned on Toolband.Army that Butcher will be supporting Isis when the play in LA on the 7th and 8th of April. Be there or be square!

Isis Tour

Accordin to IsisMyspace site, they’re heading out on tour in the US from March through until May. Word is that Butcher will be supporting them when the play in LA. No sign of the touring with Tool just yet. Maybe later in the year……Or better yet, maybe they’ll come down to Australia with them.

Scott Reeder Listening Party

Long time friend of Tool and Butcher bass guitaris Scott Reeder is having a listening party for his new solo CD Tunnelvision Brilliance. Check it out on AOL from the 23rd of January through to the 29th.

Also, take a look at the Underworld:Evolution soundtrack which is also available there at the moment. In case you’ve forgotted Puscifer are on the CD.

Firefox fans be wary, those tools at AOL seem to think IE is the only reasonable browser available…..
