Danny Comments on the Tour

According to a recent article on Blabbermouth:

TOOL drummer Danny Carey told The Pulse of Radio that unlike some groups, the members of the band still travel together on the road. “We pretty much all travel together,” he said. “We kind of have to, you know, just for the logistics of everything going down. The schedule gets pretty tight, especially at the beginning of the tour, ’cause there are lots of interviews and, you know, soundchecks. Everything’s pretty scheduled out. We’re on a bus pretty much all the time in Europe. In America it varies. Sometimes we fly, sometimes we bus it.”

I also mentions that Lollapalooza is the last scheduled show.  Not sure how much I read into that comment, I think they’re talking in regards to the dates provided so far – I expect there will be further shows after that festival gig.

Toronto Rumour, Danny’s Drum

Got an email today talking of “rumours flying around” about a Toronto Tool gig at the Molson Ampitheatre on the 7th of August. Seems to fit into their current schedule, but I’ve heard nothing concrete at this stage.  Have added this to the rumours section on the  Tour Page.

Also, Blair posted an article on Toolband talking about a Volto! gig on the 5th of June.  Included with the article is this cool pic of Danny with a snare drum featuring some Alex Grey artwork.

Antiquiet Puscifer Review

Johnny Firecloud (presumably not the dude in jail who leaked Chinese Democracy) from Antiquiet posted an extensive review of the recent LA Puscifer gig, that’s well worth reading:

Gil Sherone (of Stolen Babies & Dillinger Escape Plan) pulled back-up duty for Alexander throughout the night, laying backbeats over the rhythm and filling out the band’s sound. He turned the sticks over to Tool drummer Danny Carey, however, who played on the last song of the night, Queen B. Much as I’d like to gush over his performance, the roar of the crowd made it nearly impossible to hear the beat.

Thanks again to Bellami!

Josh Freese Since 1972 Packages

A few months ago I posted about Josh Freese‘s new album Since 1972, and outlined the various packages that could be purchased.  Many people suspected that much of this was a joke, but a recent blog post from the Amateur Chemist suggests that he’s coming good with his promises!  It even suggests that there has been someone wealthy enough to afford the $20,000 package, which includes mini-golf with Maynard:

Josh was very down to earth and just as zany and energetic as his drum style. It seemed to hit Josh that he was really going through with his masterplan when we sat down to eat. He relayed the craziness of trying to coordinate with people flying across the country to play miniature golf with Maynard from Tool, and Mark from Devo.

No word yet on the $75 000 package featuring a ride in Danny‘s Lamborghini on mushrooms.

Thanks to Bellami for the tip!

Danny plays with Puscifer

James emailed me today to let me know that Danny played with Puscifer in LA the other night.  As with everything these days, it was captured in all it’s glory on a cheap camera and posted on Youtube!  Thanks to decadence21 for posting it.  There’s a few more videos from the night there too!

Tiresias also emailed me his review of the show on the 4th:

At the show last night. Flew down from Northern california. Seates VIP2 Balcony, row AA. Milla was sitting behind me for most of the show. Great set. Highlights:

Rev:22 Single female vocal, not Maynard; Momma Sed (sweet!), Milla’s song, (really hot, very cool vibe in L.A., and then Queen B with Danny Carey, who sat on the couch for the beginning of the song, then moved to the kit stage right (which lit up inside the kit) for the end of the song. He and Alexander were in synch and rocking out.  Indigo children was another highlight, but I ram to the bar and almost ran into reznor.

Into The Presence had a great set. Rush sounding voice and a sweet guitar player. (Also played with Puscifer)

Overall an entertaining evening. Really cool vibe of Puscifer as a collective musical, comedy ensemble. Much love all around on stage after the final song. Maynard sticks to the shadows and works great with others.

Can’t wait for Tool this summer. Hoping they will swing by Outside Lands in Golden Gate at the end of the summer.

Sounds good!

Tool February Newsletter 2009

Blair has released the February 2009 Newsletter somewhat secretly this time, as there wasn’t a post in the new about it.  It gives us an update of all the members, which I shall summarise below:

  • Adam is working on several big undisclosed projects (the video presumably)
  • Maynard is Puscifering, as we already know
  • Danny & Justin have had a very productive jam session a couple of weeks ago

Thanks to budsyralli from Toolarmy for spotting it.

Tool January Newsletter

Blair released the Tool January Newletter today, despite the fact it’s February.  It talks about, and includes a picture of a bug found in a readers Vicarious DVD, and includes a vision, which may or may not mean something.  Not sure what to make of it, but the reference to various Toolarmy Ranks and so on could have some meaning.  Change coming to the website soon perhaps?

There’s also a picture of Danny at the recent NBA All-Stars game.  Looks like he could only get a seat in the nosebleed section!
