Playing Catchup!

I’ve been quite busy the last few days, so have a few bits and pieces to post, none of which are amazingly exciting though.  At least it will clear my Inbox!  I may also get around to posting my Soundwave review which is sitting in my Drafts folder!

The most important one is that Alex Grey and his wife were involved in a serious car accident last week.  They both have a few injuries, but nothing life threatening at this stage.  Most details on this accident can be found as the COSM blog.

Tubbs sent me an email the other day with a link to a Lateralus Signed Vinyl action on Ebay.  Looks authentic and in good condition, so worth checking out for those interested in acquiring one of these increasingly hard to obtain collectables.

Oldesch came across a few Tool based Persona’s for the Firefox browser the other day.  Persona’s are basically their new name for themes.  Check them out:

If anyone else has any other Tool, APC, Puscifer, etc. themes for any medium that Fourtheye readers would enjoy, then feel free to send them to me.

A General Warning

There seems to be plenty of dubious vinyl going around at the moment, including the recently posted 10,000 Days vinyl.  In the post I made it clear I felt it was a bootleg at the time, and really only mentioned it out of curiousity as I’d never seen a 10,000 Days vinyl before.  Following that post I was told by a somewhat reliable source that Tool were planning to do some 10,000 Days vinyl, and that the recent Ebay article could be the real deal, though he wasn’t sure.

Today a Fourtheye reader has told me that without doubt the recent 10,000 Days vinyl appearing here is a poorly manufactured fake.  He also mentions there are plenty of Ænima fakes on Ebay at the moment also.

I’m not going to stick my neck out and say which ones are and aren’t real, but I will say to all of you out there in the market – buyer beware!  I will continue to post items of interest on Fourtheye, but take no responsability for the legitimacy of any of them.  Having said that, I will generally keep away from obvious fakes, and where I feel interesting items may not be legitimate, will a statement to that effect.

If you’d really like to buy something, and want to help support your favorite Tool site, try one of these items!

A few things came across my desk today, none of which are particularly exciting and warrant their own post.

Firstly, there’s a set of gig posters from the last Tool tour up on Ebay.  Located in the UK, the complete set starts at £100, or you can buy it now for £200.

Next up Blair‘s Myspace page has a few interesting photo’s added recently, the most interesting of which is a fancy neon geometric symbol, some of whom there have speculated may be a new stage prop:

Maynard has been tweeting a bit lately, suggesting that the tasting room at his vineyards will be open soon (hopefully the 4th of July).  Pics can be found in the Journal at http://www.caduceus.org/.  He also suggests he’s doing some more filming for the wine documentary Blood Into Wine.

Finally there’s a range of new pics up on Toolband, mainly from Kat’s baby shower, one of which shows Justin on the piano.  Sign of things to come?  Who knows.  Congrats to Kat!

Yellow Aenima Vinyl on Ebay

An interesting Ebay item was brought to my attention by psychadelicfur on Toolarmy today.  It’s an Ænima vinyl, though unlike the normal one is pressed on yellow vinyl (pic below).  The article mentions that it’s a “Special Collectors Edition”.  It’s currently going for a relatively cheap price of £39.99.

Some have suggested this is a bootleg of some kind, which would come as no great surprise to me. Anyone got anything to say about this particular item?

Maynard as Charles Manson

Kotell from Toolarmy posted a link to this interesting Ebay item.  It’s a copy of  Pop Smear featuring a photo-comic with Maynard as Charles Manson.  Very wierd and something I’ve never come across before:

What we have here is a rarely seen issue of the magazine POP SMEAR featuring “The Manson Family” tale as written by Legs McNeil & Gillian McCain!! This issue is from May/June 1999 and is not perfect but still VERY GOOD condition sent from smoke/pet free home. The cover has a small amount of shelf wear that includes two small light creases on corner but otherwise only light shelf wear. The first few pages have tiny crease on corner otherwise the rest of the pages are perfect. The Manson feature is around 21 pages. Those pages are all perfect.

Very bizarre live-comic story featuring MAYNARD KEENAN as CHARLES MANSON among other awesome people like Dick Manitoba,Wayne Kramer,Arthur Kane,Texas Terri,Jeff Dahl…

Going for US$300 for those with a bit of cash in these tight economic times.
