GH4 tracklist fake

Neversoft have confirmed that the track list posted the other day is a fake.  The company said that while Van Halen’s Hot For Teacher is included (which is great news) the rest of the list is “pure speculation”.  I guess we’ll have to wait for further confirmation.

Guitar Hero tracks – Undertow Tour?

Prez2044 from Toolarmy pointed us to an alleged leaked tracklisting reveals that Guitar Hero 4 will include an Undertow Tour including the following:

Undertow Tour:
“Stinkfist” by Tool
“Lateralus” by Tool
“Schism” by Tool

There’s no indication as to how legitimate this list is, however it’s suggested that it will be officially confirmed in the next few days.

Undertow Tour seems like an odd name considering there are no Undertow tracks included.  Also, it appears to include Stinkfist and Lateralus, while other leaks suggested Vicarious and Parabola.  Not that I’d be bothered if this was the case, I’d prefer Stinkfist and Lateralus and Parabola is one of my least favorite Tool tracks.

I’ve posted the complete tracklist as a comment for those interested.

GH4 Removed? Maynard’s movie

As pointed out on The Tool Hotline, the reference to Guitar Hero 4 on Alan Jones‘ website has been removed. I guess maybe Tool (or Neversoft) aren’t ready to reveal this snippet yet. Despite the removal of this info, I consider the Guitar Hero rumours fact rather than speculation.

Also, according to this article on IMDB, Maynard is appearing as the Hippie/Chauffeur/Pilot/Bartender/Butler/Bait Shop Clerk in the upcoming David Michaels movie The Other Side. Thanks to Henry for the tip there.

Guitar Hero 4 Confirmed

Ronnie sent me an email today pointing me to Alan Joneswebsite (Adam‘s brother). On the Bits page it mentions:

Doesn’t all good summer fun begin with some yard work? Doing some of that… but I did have some real fun in LA on my last trip. After getting all of my work done and closing a deal for Tool (GH4) I spent the last day of my trip in Catalina which is a gorgeous little island off the coast. The ferry ride is about an hour. I made some new friends with a Texas Ranger and his wife – Justin and Courtnie Chambers – and spent the day with Adam, Camella, Rynne, and Aaron Harris of the band Isis.

From that statement I’d now consider this a done deal, and probably one of the happenings Blair has mentioned in the last few months.

The rest of the article is well worth reading too. It confirms a couple of things Blair mentioned recently and talks about a golf day with Danny and King Buzzo.

Leak Tool Guitar Hero news?

Mike D pointed out an article on Gamernode.com which talks about Guitar Hero 4, and has what appears to be an official blurb for the game taken from an online survey site:

Guitar Hero

In this new Guitar Hero game, join up with your
bandmates to form the ultimate super group and rock your way to the
top. Shred on lead, rhythm, or bass guitar (three options on one guitar
controller), rip on drums, or belt it out on the mic as you rock
together on the greatest classic, modern, alternative, pop, and metal
hits. 85 songs by artists including Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Foo
Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, System of a Down, Ozzy Osbourne,
Interpol, Muse, Tool (at least three songs and a dedicated venue), and
dozens more come together to form the coolest set list ever. You can
even play as your favorite rock star, choosing from characters like
Sting, Ozzy Osbourne, Ted Nugent, Billy Corgan, Jimi Hendrix, Travis
Barker, Hayley Williams, and Zak Wylde. If none of these are your
style, then you can create your own character, including character
construction, instrument creation, band logos, and album covers. Then
take it to a whole new level by jumping into a fully-integrated
recording studio to lay down, upload, and share custom tracks online -
for virtually unlimited rock. This game features the most authentic
instrument peripherals on the market including an all-new wireless
guitar controller with the first-ever touch-sensitive neck slide,
dedicated Star Power button, and ability to palm-mute. Also, the new
killer wireless drums have ultra-quiet pressure-sensitive pads, raised
cymbals, and are easy to set up and take down. Or, use the microphone
to become the ultimate frontman. This new Guitar Hero game lets you
rock together and rock for all.

Expected Rating: T-Teen – Suitable for those ages 13 and over

No virtual Adam Jones to pick as you avater it would seem.

June 2008 Newsletter

As promised, Blair released the June 2008 newsletter, and this time it contains some “details” of what’s up in the Tool world. Head over to Toolband/Army to read it, but here’s my summary.

Adam is:

  • working on some undisclosed entertainment industry related project? Guitar Hero perhaps?
  • also involved in the construction of some future band-related endeavor. Building a recording studio perhaps?
  • Spending time playing Halo 3 and watching Baseball games with Buzz

Danny is:

  • spending lots of time in his loft studio gearing up for some music-related enterprise. Writing new material? Pigmy Love Circus record?
  • performing with Volto!
  • writing a book with Blair
  • other stuff including driving his lamborghini, painting his house, etc.

Justin is:

  • building a new house
  • working on new Tool riffs
  • possibly working on another musical project
  • revamping Lobal Orning at some point

Maynard is:

  • working on wine and Puscifer as outlined on his Myspace site
  • hopefully looking after his vocal chords

Tool are:

  • working to complete a couple of new projects
  • one of these is very close to becoming a reality

So there you have it. No detail really, but we didn’t expect that.

Tool in Guitar Hero 4?

A usually reliable source told me over the weekend that Tool will be appearing in Guitar Hero 4, with the track Schism, Vicarious and Parabola available to play.  Apparently the graphics used during the songs will not be the usual seen in GH, but a conglomerate of Alex Grey artwork and the eyes from Lateralus and Aenima.  More details on this as they come to hand.

Sounds like fun, but personally I’d be a little dissappointed with the track selection if this was the case.  I wouldn’t have minded seeing Stinkfist, Aenima, or for something a little more challenging – Rosetta Stoned.  What would you guys like to see?
