Isis Holy Tears Single

According to a recent post on Toolband/Army, Isis will shortly be releasing a single for the track Holy Tears from the In The Absence Of Truth album.  The single will contain a live version of track featuring Justin Chancellor recorded at the Continental Airlines Arena.

Blair also tells us an anecdote of some of the pranks playing during the joint tour last year:

That night when Justin joined Isis on stage, Danny’s drum tech Joe Paul (and a few members of Tool who shall remain anonymous played some pranks on their opening act – one being to put Johnson and Johnson’s baby powder in Aaron Harris’s hi hat so that he received steady puffs of fragrant ‘smoke’ during the first song, with the other being the condition of the dressing room after the band returned to it, “sweaty and thirsty” after their set. As it turned out, the dressing room had been ‘magically’ transformed into a Christmas scene, with all of the band’s belongings gift wrapped and placed under a Christmas tree amid a floor of white peanuts ‘snow.’ Good times!

Isis Gear Tour

MetalKult have a video gear tour with Aaron and Mike from Isis.  The tour covers the guitars, effects pedals and amps used by the band members.  Probably only worthwhile for gear geeks only.

Isis European Tour

Tool tourmates Isis have just announced a European tour according to Blabbermouth.  The tour, which is scheduled for April will include:

  • Apr. 13 – Moscow, RU @ Ikra Club
  • Apr. 15 – Hamburg, DE @ Uebel & Gefaehrlich
  • Apr. 16 – Leipzig, DE @ Conne Island
  • Apr. 18 – Tilburg, NL @ 013 (Roadburn Festival)
  • Apr. 20 – Karlsruhe, DE @ Substage
  • Apr. 22 – Vienna, AT @ Arena
  • Apr. 23 – Munich, DE @ Feierwerk
  • Apr. 25 – Zurich, CH @ Mascotte
  • Apr. 26 – Lyon (Feyzin), FR @ L’Epicerie Moderne
  • Apr. 27 – Nancy, FR @ L’Autre Canal

The UK seems to be a glaring omission from that list, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we see some more dates announced.

Holiday in San Francisco, 10000 DVDs?

According to Indacello, Jello Biafra joined Tool onstage last night in San Francisco for a version of Holiday in Cambodia.  Guests joining Tool this tour during lateralus include Sebastian from Trans Am, Dale from The Melvins, Cody from Big Business, Tim Alexander from Primus and Aaron from Isis.  Perhaps Tool should tour with The Mark of Cain while in Australia so John Stanier can join them on stage…

According to Marco, a website in the Netherlands is claiming that the Vicarious DVD will be limited to 10,000 copies.  I’m not so sure of that, but order yourself a copy just in case!

Isis Webcast, Maynard covers King Crimson?

According to a post on Blabbermouth Isis, who are good friends of Tool will be broadcasting their performance at Paradiso in Amsterdam in both video and audio on  The event is due to take place on the 11th of June.

The Tool Hotline report that according to Robert Fripp of King Crimson’s myspace blog “Jeff Fayman of Immediate Music has sent the latest mix of [King Crimson track 21st Century] Schizoid Man (with Maynard Keenan on vocals) on MP3. This is a Beast.”.  No word on if this is Puscifer or something else….

Isis Interview

The Recorder, online publication of the Conneticut State University has posted an interview with Cliff Meyer, the guitarist and keyboard player for Isis.  They talk about Isis’ latest recording, as well as discuss touring with Tool as opposed to playing smaller venues.

Nick: How does it feel to go back to playing your newer material at the smaller venues after playing strictly arenas when opening up for Tool not too long ago? I would think you would appreciate the more intimate setting, but did you get used to the large arenas?

Meyer: We certainly did not grow accustomed to that. [laughs] That was an incredible and surreal experience. These smaller venue shows are ones that we, as a band, are more comfortable playing. There is something about the adrenaline rush that you get when you are up close to the people that really care about your music. Not that we had any problems on the Tool tour but it is just a completely different animal.
