Meats Meier on Dozo and Tool website redesign

According to Meats Meier’s Myspace site, work is progressing will on the Dozo video for Puscifer:

I’m working night and day on the Puscifer Dozo music video. Almost all of the 80 shots have a combination of motion capture, 3d tracking, and live video that have to all work together perfectly. Probably the most the challenging project of my life so far. I bit off a lot on this one for sure. Luckily, my friend Patrick is being a huge help to me with editing and motion tracking and I had a guy that I had never met (thanks Benjamin) fly out from Indiana to lend a hand over the weekend.
I’m super proud of the results so far. I just need a bunch of luck to make sure that I don’t have any big problems spring up so that it can be done on time.
I’m just stoked that MJK trusts in my skills enough to let me make these things…instead of going to a big studio.

Here’s a preview.

He also mentions that:

I’m also working on parts of the TOOL website redesign, another large challenge….

Hopefully we’ll see some results here, unlike the Joshua Davis work.
Thanks to Kittaan from Toolarmy for the tip.

Maynard being filmed?

I found a wierd blog post this morning which talks about Maynard‘s sudden appearing in what appears to be a video recording studio:

For real… James Maynard keenan just walked onto the set of our music video shoot… I guess he’s filming a shoot for an advertisement, Walking with a gun and a cowboy hat. We asked to get a picture with him, but this is as close as i was allowed to get. The crew weren’t allowed to talk to him, and everyone was speaking in whispers. Pretty crazy. I listened to Tool growing up, so the experience was pretty surreal.

Maynard doing “something”

I have no idea what’s going on, but looking at the accompanying photo does somewhat confirm that it is Maynard, though it’s not close enough to be 100% sure. I’d guess Maynard is filming some kind of Puscifer promo, and seeing that he’s appearing in front of a green screen I’m guessing there may be some kind of animation or something appearing behind him…

Billy Howerdel talks Ashes Divide

There’s an interesting interview with Billy Howerdel on MTV.com where he talks about Ashes Divide, and also elaborates further on his relationship with Maynard and A Perfect Circle’s future:

“I don’t know what the future’s going to hold, but all I can see is Ashes Divide now,” he said. “I wouldn’t say APC is dead, but until further notice, we’re not doing a whole lot. We might do a surprise thing here or there, but right now, Ashes Divide will have my full focus.”

Quite an interesting article and worth reading if you’re an APC/Howerdel fan.

Puscifer Update

According to a recent post on Maynard‘s Myspace site, the Queen B DVD will be available on Tuesday, and is a limited edition so don’t delay in ordering it (presumably from the Puscifer website?).  No word as to what’s on the DVD apart from the Queen B video, but it’s safe to say there’s probably no live Tool tracks.  Meats Meier is continuing work on the Dozo video, and according to the post is coming along well.  Also mentioned is that Lustmord is working on some Dub remixes that will probably be released on Vinyl and/or on iTunes.  Finally there are a couple more unreleased tracks being completed, and these are expected to appear on the V is for Vagina vinyl release.

A Perfect Circle not over?

Henry emailed me today with a quote from a recent issue of Revolver, where Maynard gives his thoughts on working with Billy Howerdel, as well as some kind of idea when a reunion may be possible:

The real problem with running Tool and A Perfect Circle at the same time was they both operate the same way. They’re both live touring bands with a label, still working under the old contract mentality. So I thought it was time to let A Perfect Circle to go for now and let Billy explore himself. It’s tough for a guy who went from being a guitar tech [for Tool] to being in a band with pretentious, famous singer and having to live in that shadow. It was important for Billy to go and do his own thing and really explore his own sound and let people hear what he has to say and how he would do it on his own, and then we’ll get back and do some A Perfect Circle stuff.

Maynard on Left of Center

According to Beckett from Toolarmy, Maynard will be appearing on the Sirius radio station Left of Center next week:

MJK will be getting on the mic on his favorite radio station, Left of Center. Maynard will discuss everything from his wine vineyard to his thoughts on creativity and downloading to his new Puscifer album. He’ll also play and discuss every song from the new Puscifer record, V Is For Vagina, exclusively for Left of Center listeners. All from the comfort of his wine vineyard in Cornville, Arizona.
