Alleged Tapeworm tracks leaked?

Had an email across my desk today from Joe who points me towards Youtube user 25Bayor who posted a range of videos claiming to be Tapeworm cuts.  A couple of tracks appear to have singers that sound like Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson, though none I’ve heard sound like Maynard at all (except a live version of Passive that I’m presuming is APC).

Are these the real deal?  I’m not entirely convinced.  None of them are particularly compelling tracks, though Reznor himself hinted in the past that they weren’t good enough for a general release.  Anyway, why don’t you all take a listen and let me know your thoughts…

Puscifer Update

Maynard’s not the type to sit idle, and recently as well as working in vineyards, rehearsing with A Perfect Circle and writing with Tool, he’s been working on some new Puscifer material.  According to a recent tweet it would appear that this work is no complete and a release “window” set:

Finishin up new puscifer tracks. mixin this month w hopes of an Oct release. It’s sounding pretty tasty. Fairly confident you’ll b pleased.

I’m looking forward to hearing what’s next for Puscifer!  No word yet on how many tracks have been recorded, my guess is it will be an EP…

A Perfect Circle playing Lollapalooza

As I predicted a little while back, A Perfect Circle were today announced as part of the Lollapalooza lineup for 2011.  A Perfect Circle seem to be one of the second tier acts, and other bands joining them on the three day festival include Foo Fighters, Ween, Muse, Deftones, Death From Above 1979 and The Cars.  Overall it seems like a quite reasonable lineup, and much lighter on shitty metal than other festivals they’re playing.

According to the website, the only tickets left are 3-Day passes, so I hope you had the foresight to get an earlybird ticket if APC are legitimately the only band you fancy on the lineup…

Danny Carey Interview in DRUMscene

I mentioned this interview yesterday, but this morning when I visited the local magazine emporium, I spotted a copy of issue 64 of DRUMscene featuring Danny and decided to grab a copy (it was only $10).  And I gotta say it was $10 very well spent, then interview is one of the best I’ve read, and Danny speaks extensively about where the new album is at, the Live DVD, recording/song writing techniques and more.

In fairness to the magazine and copyright laws, I’m not going to scan it for you guys, however here’s some of the highlights of the interview:

  • The loved the Big Day Out tour, it was a great break for them and they love the relaxed atmosphere that comes with playing in the tour.  They the it off really well with the guys from Rammstein.  The highlight of the tour for Danny was the Melbourne sideshow.
  • As of the time of the interview 4 songs are in the works, which Danny expects is about half the album.  Danny seems keen to write shorter and more to the point songs this time round, but things seem to have a habit of growing!  So far the songs seem to be heading along the path set by Jambi.
  • Maynard is expecting to spend some time with Tool before the APC shows and has expressed a desire to be more involved in the writing this time round, as Danny suggested that Maynard found some of the complex rhythms of the last album hard to write for.
  • There will be no further tours until the album is released, which all things going well they hope if 2011.  The plan is to be in the studio by the end of the US summer.
  • They are leaning towards using Joe Baressi for the album, but haven’t ruled out using David Bottrill.  Depends on how the remaining song writing pans out.
  • Danny’s really keen on getting a Live DVD out, using the footage recorded on previous tours (he talks specifically about the 6 pro-shot shows).  As far as he knows the others in the band are keen, but it is a lengthy process editing the footage.  Seemed pretty sure it would see the light of day eventually.
  • Currently in the Lamborghini CD player is the new Trans-am and Rammstein albums, as well as some old Jethro Tull.
  • He’s still keen on doing a drum workshop type DVD, and said he might do one this year if he finds the time.
  • Danny has taken up bike riding, loves Penang Beef Curry, Mexican food and The Big Lebowski

As I said, it’s a great interview, and I would suggest any Australians out there interesting in reading the whole thing head down to their local newsagent and grab a copy!  Or you should be able to snag one online here.

A Perfect Circle shows on sale April 8th

A promised, A Perfect Circle have suppled some on-sale information for each of their tour dates.  Tickets will go on sale at varying times on the 8th of April, and links to the ticket sales can be found on the Perfect Circle website

From what I’ve heard, tickets are about $72, though this may vary from venue to venue.  VIP tickets are also available for each of the shows, and presumably include a meet & greet as well as a bag of treats.

New A Perfect Circle tracks, but no new album

I just read on Blabbermouth that while A Perfect Circle do have some new songs (which they hope to play on the coming tour) there are no plans to record them or a full album just yet:

Howerdel said A PERFECT CIRCLE will be “playing some of the new songs,” on this tour, “so that’s always an exciting prospect.”

“We’re still kind of in the creative process of them, but we have every intention of playing them live,” he added. “I’m really looking forward to it. I’m also looking forward to getting back on a tour and playing big enough places to actually have a production of sorts.”

Howerdel also said the while he’s excited for the new songs, don’t expect a new CD…yet. “No album right now,” he said. “Songs will trickle in as they’re written and as needed, so maybe next year that will come together as a bigger collection of songs. But right now, there won’t be an album.”

A link to the full interview (a podcast I haven’t listened to) can be found in the original link.

In other APC news, it would appear that a lack of a show in Chicago, as well as a gap in the touring schedule could suggest that an appearance at Lollapalooza is on the cards…

According to the email I received, we can expect a few more dates to be announced, as well as on-sale details shortly.  It also mentions that we can expect a Puscifer announcement in the coming weeks as well.

Where the leaves Tool no one really knows.  I’ve heard that they are working very hard on the next album, and my understanding is that songwriting is pretty advanced, but unless they plan on starting to record the album in the next couple of weeks (which is not outside the realms of possibility), I’m not sure I can see a release happening this year…
