Meshuggah North America Tour with Cynic

Tool touring mates Meshuggah have announced they’ll be touring North America in early 2009, with the following dates announced already:

Feb. 01 – House of Blues – Anaheim, CA
Feb. 02 – House of Blues – San Diego, CA
Feb. 06 – El Corazon – Seattle, WA
Feb. 07 – Hawthorne Theatre – Portland, OR
Feb. 08 – Commodore Ballroom – Vancouver, BC
Feb. 15 – House of Blues – Chicago, IL
Feb. 17 – The Phoenix – Toronto, ONT
Feb. 20 – Recher Theatre – Towson, MD

No doubt there are more to come.  Supporting them will be the recently re-united Cynic.

Advance Warning

As some of you know, my wife has been pregnant for some time, about 9 months in fact!  After this period of gestation, she’s about ready to pop, and the due date just happens to be this coming Friday.  As a result, Fourtheye posts may be a little sporadic in the next couple of weeks, depending on how things go.  Since things are quiet, I doubt you’ll miss me, but I’m sure our comrades over at the Tool Hotline will be on the money should any big news arrive.

Speaking of news, a little birdy tells me that a prominent venue in one of the cities Tool had to postpone has been advised to prepare for a date in August.  This comes from a somewhat unknown source, so how valid this rumour is remains to be seen.  I’d consider it unlikely Tool will be playing any shows then, and personally I’d hope they’re busying themselves preparing for the next album.

Bonnaroo 2007 Videos

Pigmyl0vecircus from Toolarmy shared with us today a couple of clips from Tool‘s Bonnaroo show last year.  They’re great quality and well worth checking out.  If anyone has a full copy of this video then I’d be very interested in hearing from them….

Fourtheye Survey closes soon!

As I write this post, we’ve had 185 responses to the Fourtheye Survey, which I’m pretty happy with.  At this stage I’m planning on closing the survey when I get back from a trip I’m taking to the Blue Mountains this week.  That’s to say I’ll be closing off submissions sometime on Tuesday the 15th of January.

When closed, I’ll start compiling the information and release sections of it at a time.  Eventually the results of the entire survey will be revealed.  Should be interesting…

Since I’ll be away, there won’t be any more posts for a few days, not that I think we’re about to be blown away with news. Those of you in San Antonio and Missoula should keep an eye on Toolband just in case the hints dropped in the newsletter  are correct.  See you all next week.

Holiday in Cambodia

Scarlettletterman from Toolarmy posted a Xmas present this morning – a bootleg of Jello Biafra and Tool performing Holiday in Cambodia.  Enjoy!

Yet another poster

CorpsegrindeR sent in a picture of the signed Tool poster he picked up in San Francisco the other night:

Let me know when you start getting sick of seeing these…

Tool Posters

Brian sent me an email last night with a couple of links to some posters made available at the recent Tool show in LA. According to him, poster weren’t selling for $1000, but a mere $500. The $500 ones were snapped up pretty quick, and there were only 5 of them. Signed copies of the other poster was $80 and there were heaps of those. The first one has some of Adam’s art while the send one is plain:

Holiday in San Francisco, 10000 DVDs?

According to Indacello, Jello Biafra joined Tool onstage last night in San Francisco for a version of Holiday in Cambodia.  Guests joining Tool this tour during lateralus include Sebastian from Trans Am, Dale from The Melvins, Cody from Big Business, Tim Alexander from Primus and Aaron from Isis.  Perhaps Tool should tour with The Mark of Cain while in Australia so John Stanier can join them on stage…

According to Marco, a website in the Netherlands is claiming that the Vicarious DVD will be limited to 10,000 copies.  I’m not so sure of that, but order yourself a copy just in case!

TU with Tool

It’s quite possibly too late now, but Toolband/Army informs us that TU (Pat Mastelotto and Trey Gunn from King Crimson) will be opening for Tool in Everett tonight.  They’re also playing at the Portland show.  They go on before Trans-am, so don’t get there late if you want to see them!

Vicarious video shown live?

In a recent live photo posted on Toolband/Army, the screens behind the band would appear to be playing part of the Vicarious video. Anyone at these shows care to comment on how much of the new video footage is being played at recent shows?
