Puscifer Man Overboard preview on Amazon

Tom emailed me today a link on Amazon which contains a short sample of the song Man Overboard by Puscifer, as well as the associated artwork.  According to the page the single should be available on the 19th of July.

As you should all know by now, Man Overboard is the first single from the new Puscifer album Conditions of My Parole, which is due in October.

Maynard talks up Puscifer Album, Tour

In a recent interview by Spin, Maynard talks about the forthcoming Puscifer album Conditions of My Parole:

The album features frequent Puscifer collaborators, including producer Mat Mitchell, Telefon Tel Aviv’s Josh Eustis, and British singer/songwriter Carina Rounds, plus newcomers including Jeff Friedl and Matt McJunkins from ASHES dIVIDE, L.A. songwriter Juliette Commagere, Bat for Lashes drummer Sarah Jones, and Jon Theodore, the former sticksman for Mars Volta. "He’s got some serious chops," says Maynard. "Working with different people opens up a whole new set of questions and puzzles and solutions.

The album should be released October 18th and will include a two month tour.  Of Tool, Maynard mentions that “We’re writing”.

Puscifer Update

Maynard’s not the type to sit idle, and recently as well as working in vineyards, rehearsing with A Perfect Circle and writing with Tool, he’s been working on some new Puscifer material.  According to a recent tweet it would appear that this work is no complete and a release “window” set:

Finishin up new puscifer tracks. mixin this month w hopes of an Oct release. It’s sounding pretty tasty. Fairly confident you’ll b pleased.

I’m looking forward to hearing what’s next for Puscifer!  No word yet on how many tracks have been recorded, my guess is it will be an EP…

According to the email I received, we can expect a few more dates to be announced, as well as on-sale details shortly.  It also mentions that we can expect a Puscifer announcement in the coming weeks as well.

Where the leaves Tool no one really knows.  I’ve heard that they are working very hard on the next album, and my understanding is that songwriting is pretty advanced, but unless they plan on starting to record the album in the next couple of weeks (which is not outside the realms of possibility), I’m not sure I can see a release happening this year…

News from the interwebs

There have been a few small things happening on the web that may interest you Fourtheye readers.  Here we go:

  • Maynard gave us a short Puscifer update on the Puscifer website of all places:
    • V is for Vagina
      HAPPY V DAY! 02/14/11:
Lot’s Brewing behind the curtain. Working on new tunes, new vids, new trinkets, and a new show for the Fall. Updates to follow.

  • All of HuntingtonSt’s Youtube videos have been removed and his account deleted.  Reading between the lines, it appears he decided he could get away with posting copyrighted material, presumably Blood Into Wine or Volto! related.  It’s a shame he decided to do this, as the result is the loss of a large collection of live Tool bootlegs, which wasn’t really the offending material.  Oh well, the nature of the internet means these will be uploaded in due time…
  • There’s a whole bunch of Tool tour photos on Toolarmy.
  • I meant to say in my Tool poster article last night, that word is any leftover signed BDO tour posters will be sold via Toolband or Toolarmy.

That’s all for now.  I might get around to finishing writing my Big Day Out tour wrap up this weekend so stay tuned!

Maynard talks about Tool & Puscifer plans

jsmodena emailed me a link to a new interview with Maynard on Spin.  It’s pretty brief, but touches on upcoming recording/writing plans for both Tool and Puscifer:

New music from Tool is also in the works. "They are getting together and writing," he says of bandmates drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones, and bassist Justin Chancellor. "I’ll be popping back into L.A. soon to check in."

Maynard on Blood Into Wine

In a new interview with Artist Direct, Maynard discusses the Blood Into Wine movie, which is now available on DVD.  He talks about wine making, the movie, and a little about Puscifer.  No Tool news for those who are only interested in one thing (apart from sex):

It’s an inspiring film because audiences very rarely have the opportunity to see how intense the winemaking process is.
It’s been removed from our culture. Prohibition pretty much interrupted the whole appreciation. It’s odd. That was such a huge move. Prohibition, The Great Depression, World War I and II, there’s this thing that happened on our soil that removed a lot of that appreciation from the table for us, quite literally. Now, we’re catching up with it. There are all of these celebrity chefs and cooking shows. More wine is being appreciated by people and not to the point of indulgence. You don’t drive down the highway and see corkscrews and bottles along the side of the road; you see Budweiser cans. It’s not like it’s that kind of growth. There’s an appreciation for art and a consciousness that’s attached to it.

Puscifer Lyrics

Subtle emailed me this morning telling me that there are lyrics available on the Puscifer site.  I haven’t noticed them before so I suspect they’re new.

Just in case you don’t believe me here’s a sample from my favorite Puscifer song:

Wake up son of mine.
Momma’s got somthin’ to tell you.
Changes come.
Life will have it’s way with your pride, son.
Take it like a man.
So hang on son on mine.
A storm is blowin up your horizon.
Changes come.
Keep your dignity.
Take the high road.
Take it like a man.
So listen up son of mine.
Momma’s got somethin’ to tell you…
All about
Growin pains.
Life will pound away
Where the light don’t shine, son
Take it like a man.
So suck it up son on mine.
Thunder’s blowin up your horizon.
Changes come. (changes come)
Keep your dignity.
Take the high road.
Take it like a man.
Momma Sed Like the rain. (this too shall pass)
Like a kidney stone.(this too shall pass)
Its just a broken heart, son. This pain will pass away.
