Final Tool rehearsal prior to recording new album?

Another visitor from the Loft today, this time British rapper Heitham Al-Sayed from the band Senser, who claims that this is the last rehearsal prior to recording.  All signs seem to be pointing to Tool reaching conclusion on their next album.

Tool March 2016 Newsletter

Blair has posted the March 2016 Tool Newsletter, and this month it recounts the life and death of a Pepsi cooler in the Loft. The status of the new album does get a bit of a mention though:

After a short deliberation it was unanimously agreed by the band members – as a tribute to its many years of commendable service – to continue with the day’s session. Afterwards, there was some discussion about getting it repaired, or perhaps even a full restoration. However, until any technicians are called or any refurbishing gets under way, it is uncertain how the machine’s absence will affect any future Tool tunes? Personally, I don’t believe that it will change much, especially at this stage of the writing/arranging process, in which, I believe, there are only a couple of ‘shorter’ songs left to complete(?), along with a segue or two or three. (Of course, we need to keep in mind any changes that might be needed to accommodate the vocals, etc., once all of the arrangements are finished.) Even so, I still don’t think the departed Pepsi machine will change in any significant way any new material created by the band. But if it does, someone might want to start looking for cooling unit parts…

Regardless of the status of songwriting, I can’t see Tool recording anything until after the wine harvest, but it is somewhat promising to hear that a good deal of the songwriting is complete. The real question is how much of that includes Maynard’s vocals, or will there need to be a further writing session to get that done?

Maynard & Danny – still in love after all these years

It’s true! Despite rumours to the contrary, Maynard is full of love, at least for his fellow bandmates that aren’t Adam and Justin! Actually, I image Maynard enjoys their company too, and I think he has no problem with the majority of non-insufferable Tool fans as well.

Maynard and Danny are pictured via Instagram below, rehearsing for the Tool show happening this weekend. Despite being “conned into it”, I expect Maynard will put on a good show, as will the rest of the band. There’s a few from Fourtheye who are attending the show, and being a festival it’s going to be much easier for them to tweet and flood social media with by the second updates on the show. Keep your eyes peeled, especially if you’re unable to enjoy the show in person.

Maynard gives us a Tool update

It’s been a good couple of days for Tool updates, and now Maynard swoops in and gives us another:

I’ve been making regular trips to LA to check on the writing progress of my Tool brethren. Things a progressing nicely. Slowly, but definitely progressing. Nothing is recorded yet, but the guys are confident that the pieces are coming together swimmingly and will be ready for me to begin writing melodies and content ‘soon’. I’m as anxious to get this album completed as everyone else. But as history will show, you can’t rush these gents. Patience is Gold in this Sound Mine. In the meantime, as always, other things are simultaneously occurring. Life is too short not to create something with every breath we draw.

Danny, Adam and Justin play for WWE

Tool (sans Maynard) have put on a private show for a bunch of WWE wrestlers in the Loft, and have posted some photographic evidence for us all to enjoy. Word is they played Sober, 46&2 and Schism at the request of those in attendance.

Adam shares a gift from the Loft

Adam has shared with us some footage of the band rehearsing Lateralus from the Loft. It doesn’t really need further explanation or analysis, so here it is!

Danny sells Sacred Geometry pillows!

In news just at hand, it appears Danny is selling some black Sacred Geometry pillows via his store at dannycarey.org:

Pillow comes in TWO SIZES and contains a colorful reproduction of Danny’s talismanic pantacle board. Can be used as an ornamental pillow for the home, or as a cushion for drummer’s stools. With its esoteric symbols and alchemical motto, makes a unique gift for all fans of Danny and Tool.

Sounds like the ideal Xmas present for your favourite Tool fan. There’s also a couple of pictures from the Loft showing off the pillow, as well as Adam’s Blue Face Diezel and a white board.

Tool April 2012 Newsletter released

Blair has released the lastest Tool newsletter this morning, and it is part one of a series of newsletters outlining the history of Tool’s Loft. I haven’t had a chance to read yet, but I imagine it’s a good one for all you Tool nerds.

Find it on Toolband and Toolarmy.
