The Melvins

Adam & Buzz at Grumpys

Mark got along to Grumpys bar the other night to be served drinks by Adam from Tool and Buzz from the Melvins.  He had this to say about the event:

They were real nice, both Adam and Buzzo allowed fans to take pictures with them. Adam was selling some of his prints for around $400.00 a piece. They had to cut the bartending gig short due to the fact we had a terrible snowstorm that night and they had to get back over to the other Grumpys for a Melvins show that was really good but I was hoping that Adam would have jumped on stage, but he didn’t. Oh, and no juicy new TOOL news to divulge, I was too star struck to ask questions.

Sounds like fun Mark.  He also sent me a few pictures for you guys to enjoy!

According to a post from Blair on Toolband/Army, a limited amount of original Adam Jones artpieces will be sold at the appearances at Grumpy‘s Bar.

While we’re talking about the Melvins, I heard on the Melvins Forum that any Melvins gigs in Australia next month will be “secret” shows and not part of an official tour. It also won’t include Big Business, so I’d guess maybe two shows, one in Sydney and one in Melbourne with Trevor Dunn on bass.

The Melvins to play in Australia

According to a recent post on the Ding Dong Lounge (a music venue in Melbourne):

American sludge metal band the MELVINS (USA) will be gracing the stage here in January, also featuring members of FANTôMAS (USA)…Stay tuned for dates and pre-sales!!

If they don’t play Adelaide I’ll be pissed…

Melvins postpone shows

A recent post on The Melvins Myspace page tells us that some upcoming shows have had to be postponed due to illness:

Due to illness with one of the band members San Diego, Pomona and both Los Angeles dates are postponed. We are in the process of rescheduling the shows and will post them when we have confirmation.

Again, sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused anyone. Thank you for bearing with us. We hope you all understand.

Your Friends,

Get well soon Dale, Buzz, Cody or the other dude who’s name I forget.

Fourtheye Beta Site

Hi Everyone,

As you know I’ve been working on redesigning Fourtheye. Well, it’s been tough working on the new design on the current site, because there are various plugins, features and widgets I want to add and remove to the new one. As a result modifying the current Fourtheye page without breaking the existing themes can be a little tricky.

So, to cope with this, I’ve created a Fourtheye Beta site. This site contains the theme I am currently working and a couple of plugins I’m starting to use, such as the excellent Lightbox plugin (click on a picture to see what I mean). This site works on a parrallel database to Fourtheye, and while I’ll be porting posts from the current one to the beta site, I will not be carrying across comments and such. If you have a comment to make, unless is specifically for the Beta site, then make it at the main Fourtheye page.

Hopefully, once the redesign is completed over the coming weeks, you’ll see the new beta version take over from the existing one. and hopefully I couple of other exciting features I’m thinking about implementing.

Comments on the look and the feel of the new theme are more than welcome, however bear in mind the layout and colouring of the site are very much still up in the air. Suggestions here are always appreciated.

Finally, there seems to be some kind of slowdown with Fourtheye under Fx3. I’m not sure what the problem is, but I believe it’s related to the most recent theme (the bright orange/red one that people like complaining about). Switch to one of the older themes and I think you’ll find this a lot less noticable.

Nude With Boots Pre-Order

It’s been so long now since Nude With Boots, the new Melvins album, was leaked onto the net, it’s hard to believe it still is yet to be released! Anyway, according to a recent post on Ipecac you can pre-order the album from Newbury Comics and will recieve a limited Autographed CD booklet.

There’s also an updated list of US Melvins/Big Business dates on Ipecac, so you should check them out too!

Adam rocks out at Jello

Indacelio went to last nights Jello Biafra + lots of other bands show last night, and sent in a pic of Adam rocking out with The Jelvins:

Also, he mentioned that he chat with Adam about the Vicarious video, and Adam said that it was no intentionally designed to work with 3D glasses, though he would like to make a 3D video in the future.

Melvins/Big Business Tour

The Melvins are on the road again later this year following the release of their new album Nude With Boots. As well as the two shows will Jello Biafra mentioned recently, the guys start an extensive tour of the US with Big Business, beginning on the 16th of July.

It’s a long list, and apparently not complete, so rather than typing it all out here, I’ll just give you a link to the Calendar page in Ipecac. According to the post I read, The Melvins will also be hitting Europe later this year. Hopefully Australia is also on the agenda this time.

More details on the Nightmare Before Christmas

Usquan from Toolarmy has posted these further details on the upcoming Nightmare Before Christmas festival, curated by Mike Patton & The Melvins. As expected, Ipecac bands feature quite heavily:

All Tomorrow’s Parties takes great pleasure in announcing that the next
curators for the Nightmare Before Christmas this December 2008 will be
Mike Patton and Melvins. Both are hugely influential, innovative and
vital productive forces, and we’re very very pleased to be able to
present performances from both as well as a fantastic bill of artists
picked by them. The event will take place December 5, 6 and 7 at
Butlins Holiday Camp in Minehead.

The line up so far looks like this:

Curated by Melvins

Neil Hamburger
Big Business

Curated by Mike Patton

Fantômas perform The Director’s Cut
The Locust

Pretty awesome lineup I reckon. The Fantômas set should be pretty cool.
