Rynne has confirmed this morning that Justin should be making an appearance on her Children of Saturn show today which starts at 6pm US Pacific time (11am AEST). I’m sure Justin will talk about a range of stuff, and you can chat with them and other listeners via the chatroom which you can access here.
An excellent article called An Oral History of the First Lollapalooza arrived in my inbox today, and while reading it I stumbled across this interesting quote from Lollapalooza co-founder and former Tool manager Ted Gardner:
GARDNER: It wasn’t like, "It’s a girl band, so put them on." A lot of people threw that accusation around. When I was managing Tool, I rang the agent for Lilith Fair and submitted Tool, and they said, "No, it’s all women." And I said, "Well, isn’t that sexist?"
The article isn’t really about Tool at all, but is quite interesting none the less, and features a range of quotes from the artists involved in the first Lollapalooza tour including Henry Rollins (Rollins Band), Richard Patrick (NIN/Filter), Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Perry Farrell (Janes Addiction), Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers) and more.
Blair released the July 2011 Tool newsletter earlier on Toolband today, and it’s largely in the format of a Q&A with questions submitted by drug taking readers. Of importance to our “Tool news only” fans:
Assuming that you know all about the A PERFECT CIRCLE tour and new PUSCIFER TRACK ("MAN OVERBOARD"), other than another TOOL WEBSITE MEETING on Friday, DANNY being the guest drummer for the Monday Night Jammmz (JULY 25), and on-going TOOL WRITING SESSIONS at the loft, there’s not much news this month. Therefore, let’s answer some of the more relevant e-mail, shall we…
And:
Soon, ideas began to flow, and it wasn’t long before the rehearsal space was filled with heavy guitar riffs and drums, an arrangement with sublime resolution and transitions. In short, the sound of Tool… But, to answer the question: they haven’t started recording yet…
Quite an amusing newsletter this month and worth the read!
A couple of marginally interesting Tool items appeared in the last day, the first being a snippet from a recent Maynard interview reported on Blabbermouth:
As for the status of the next TOOL album — which Keenan gets asked about in every interview — the singer gave The Pulse Of Radio an update and warned fans not to believe everything they read. "We’re just always writing and it’s just progressing as it progresses," he said. "We normally don’t say anything about anything until it’s actually happening, because there’s a lot of people online that apparently can’t read very well. I put an April Fool’s notice up there for the album release, and it was this year, 2011, I said, ‘New TOOL album, such-and-such a date, 2009, and everybody ran around like, ‘Oh, really, the new TOOL –?’ God, you guys are dumb. I swear to God. You’ve got to read. Please, read."
I hope there is no one that dumb who reads Fourtheye.
Secondly Blair shares a picture of the Arizona Bigfoot he recently encountered and managed to snap on his iPhone:

This long haired and bearded beast looks a little like Adam. ZEMKLA JR revealed?
According to quite a few sites out there, Man Overboard, the first track from the new Puscifer album Conditions of My Parole will be played on Monday morning. According to metal.com:
If you’re awake in time, tune your radio at 9 am eastern/6 am pacific to Sirius XM 36 (Alt Nation) to hear Man Overboard as well as an in-studio interview with Maynard James Keenan, Matt McJunkins and Jeff Friedl. Hopefully for those of us who sleep in the track will also be replayed later in the day.
Spin will post a streaming version of the song Monday morning. The single, Man Overboard, will be available via iTunes, Amazon.com and through other digital service providers on Tuesday, July 19.
After hearing the short preview, I’m looking forward to hearing the full track.
In other news, there was a tweet on the Tool Twitter account, presumably by Maynard, which pointed to some Japanese Heavy Metal alleging that it’s in studio footage. Think of that what you will…
Jeff sent me an email just a little while ago containing a link to the new Captain American trailer featuring 46 & 2 by Tool. Jeff points out that Joe Johnston who’s worked on the film, also worked with Adam on Jurassic Park which may explain the connection. Enjoy!
According to a recent post by Blair on Toolband:
Fans of the band will notice some TOOL music in the soon to be released trailer for "Captain America."
Further research by Moose revealed that the track will be 46 & 2, though as far as I can see the trailer hasn’t been released yet. Does this mean the song will appear on the official soundtrack? Have Tool sold out? Movie fans will also note that Tool featured on an early Iron Man 2 trailer, though was removed from the trailer and movie before it was released generally..

Update: I just read on Facebook this is no longer happening! Will be rescheduled for July if possible. Radio show will still be going ahead without him I presume!
Just a gentle reminder that Justin will be the special guest on Rynne’s Children of Saturn radio show today, due to start in about 90 minutes. Who knows what will happen! More details can be found here.

June has come quickly this year, and with it comes the next Tool newsletter. Get your decoder rings and/or Taco Bell discount vouchers out!
Blair fields a few questions I’m sure some of you will find interesting, including an update of sorts on the status of the Tool website:
Q: “Hey Blair, how are you? As you mentioned you keep getting mostly ‘when the f**k is the new album going to be done?!’ kinda’ questions, I thought i’d ask what we might expect from the ‘updating’ of the site? Will we see more Occult & Esoteric themes in the artwork & layout? All in all how’s it coming along? Waiting,.. patiently…”
A: Although I am very reluctant to comment on any progress being made on upgrading or, better yet, developing a brand new website, I am FINALLY fairly confident that the band has found the right person (and artists) for the job. I can’t say exactly when my – I mean the new TOOL site will be launched, but hopefully it will be in the next few months. Again, hopefully…
Great news!
