Australian Pre-Order, Ticket Sales

Mattw from Toolnavy has told me that 10,000 Days can be pre-ordered at Sanity.com.au. Prices is $31 which seems a little pricey for an Australian release, but the release date seems to be the 1st of May.

Just one quick thing about ticket sales, I normally don’t pay too much attention to when tickets go on sale, especially for non-Australian shows. If any of you have any info regarding ticket sales (especially overseas) send me an email and I’ll happily post them on Fourtheye.

Singles, Butcher, Artwork, Tours

A couple of quick snippets from around the web:

It’s been mentioned in several places, in particular on Toolnavy that US radio will be playing the new single sometime between the 12th and the 17th of April.  Not long to go now.  Of course if memory serves me correctly, Schism was available from the Tool website a good week or so before Triple J played it for the first time here in Australia.  Maybe we’ll be getting it sooner than we think?

According to Blair of Toolband/Army Butcher will be playing on the 29th of March at The Scene with Mother Tongue and Wulf Hammir.  Don’t forget about the upcoming shows with Isis either….

Blair also commented on the recent artwork posted on Toolband, and mentioned that essentially it’s a picture generated to be sent of to website which need to have some form of visual reference for the CD.  This certainly suggests that the actual artwork may something ‘undisplayable’ with a normal picture.  It’s probably a safe bet that it’s not the actual artwork, only an approximation of it.

Finally, according to JB77 on Toolnavy, Triple J confirmed that Tool will be touring Australia shortly after the release of the new album, but no dates have been confirmed.  Though in light of the recent Japanese Festival announcement, it’s most likely to be mid to late August.

Tool in Japan

According to Yaz on Toolarmy, Tool are confirmed at the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan on the 12th and 13th of August.  This certainly clashes with the previously rumoured Australian tour dates. Still is great news, since I very much doubt Tool would go to Japan and then not to Australia and New Zealand.

In other news, Adam is said to be featured in the next issue of Guitar World, coming out on April 11th.  I can’t remember where I read that, probably on Toolnavy.  If I ever figure out who it was who posted it (feel free to tell me if you are!) then I’ll let you all know!

Back home now as well, for those watching the news, I’m too far south to be effected by the cyclone, but it’s still pretty wet and windy here!  There’s about 10,000 Posts on Toolnavy for me to catch up with too, so there may be more news shortly!

Kabir confirms 10,000 Days

Kabir has posted on Toolshed that “A reliable source confirms that the title is ’10,000 Days’”.  For those who don’t know, Kabir is a friend of Maynard, and is usually very reliable.  I know there’ll be plenty of doubters still, but as I’ve said before, I like it.

The songs names I’m not so convinced with.  I’ve heard it suggested that these are working titles, and possibly not the real thing.  Makes sense to me, but given the album name, I’d suggest there will be a song called “Ten Thousand Days”.

Finally, mattw on Toolnavy posted a response from the Sydney Superdome regarding Tool’s booking:

Dear Matthew,

Further to your email below, please be advised that we are currently not in a position to advise if Tool are performing at the Sydney SuperDome on 10th August 2006.

However, may I suggest becoming a Sydney SuperDome online Club Member. Simply go to www.superdome.com.au, click on Member and follow the prompts. The advantage of being of being a Club Member is that you receive automatic email notifications of upcoming events and are provided with the opportunity to order tickets through the Club before they go on sale to the General Public.

Furthermore, Club Membership is currently free of charge.

Regards,

Sydney SuperDome Club Co-ordinator

That’s better than a No, and if you read into it, suggests that they’re not allowed to announce it……Think what you will

New Tool Article

Darkmoogle has brought to my attention a new Tool article. I’m not 100% sure, but it looks like it’s from a magazine called Rock Sound, presumably a British mag since it mentions the Download Festival. There’s a scan of the article below, but in case you don’t feel like squinting:

  • It confirms that 10,000 Days is the name of the CD
  • Tracks include “Rosetta Stoned”, “Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman)” and “Ten Thousand Days”
  • Justin talks about the new sound that Joe Baressi has helped them create, essentially “he (Baressi) helped us achieve something we haven’t been able to up to now in terms of our sound” .
  • Maynard talks about how he wanted to be completely finished with APC before moving onto Tool, and essentially apologises for the delay. He also talks about the lyrics on the new CD being political, but not in your face Green Day style.
  • The article mentions they will also play a London date around the time of the Download Festival.

That’s a lot of info squeezed into a relatively small article. Those track names seem a little strange to me – starting to sound more like a stoner rock album than Tool…..

Edit No you’re not going blind, the article isn’t really below.  Having some technical hitches with images at the moment, so I’ve added a comment with the contents of the article.  Enjoy!

Adam’s Myspace, Opinion, Toolshed

Adam’s Myspace has had an update in the last couple of days. The updates seem to be several photo’s taken from Adam’s days working in special effects. There appears to be some stuff from Jurassic Park and Nightmare on Elm Street. http://myspace.com/adamjonestv

Also, just a couple of opinions regarding what’s happened the last few days:

  • I posted about a rumoured Australian Tour a few days ago. While at this stage I’ve seen no hard evidence to confirm or deny this email, I’m personally a little skeptical as to whether or not it’s real. In particular there seems to be a report that the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne is in fact already booked on the night in question, and these ‘double bookings’ also seem to be prevailent in other dates mentioned in the email. In the end, regardless of the legitimacy of the email in question, I still believe it’s likely that Tool will be touring around that time, but we’ll all have to wait and see what the dates are….
  • Blair posted recently that 10,000 Days is the name of the new CD, and there’s been alot of speculation around the place as to whether or not this is really the album name. There’s been a few suggestions that it’s a rip-off of a Disturbed album name, as well as some ideas that it may be linked to some kind of political event. There also seems to be several people who consider the name to be un-Toolish, which I guess if you consider Aenima and Lateralus to be the only Tool releases, then this may be the case. Personally, I like the name, and at the moment I have no reason to doubt if it’s true or not. Hopefully it’s not Blair playing jokes on us again, but frankly, I think Blairs been pretty straightforward with us lately, so I’d suggest that the title is real. Kabir from Toolshed seems to agree as well. Finally, given this prank was pull during the build up to Lateralus, I kinda doubt Tool would play the same tired old joke again.

Finally, it seems that Toolnavy have been having some server issues in the last few days, presumably due to the intense hype surrounding the new CD. As I’ve mentioned before, consider making a donation if you consider the site to be useful, bandwidth cost’s money and the site isn’t funded by Bill Gates or the record company. Luckily for me, Fourtheye has plenty of bandwidth left, and we’re still running at about 1% of our monthly allocation. I think the only way I’d run out of bandwidth is if I exclusively hosted the new Tool CD on the site. No chance of that happening though. Sorry guys!

Last but not least, the domain name change-over to http://www.fourtheye.net is going ahead. i’ve had a slight hiccup with an incorrect name server, but hopefully in a couple of days time you’ll be enjoying this from a slightly different URL.

Australian Tour Dates?

James told me he found this on the Big Day Out forum:

Heavy rockers TOOL, who plan to release their new studio album in May, will hit Australian shores on August 8th for shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Tue August 08 – Entertainment Centre – Brisbane – Australia
Thu August 10 – SuperDome – Sydney – Australia
Sat August 12 – Rod Laver Arena – Melbourne – Australia
Mon August 14 – Entertainment Centre – Adelaide – Australia

I sure hope it’s true, Tuesday night in Brisbane kinda sucks for me, but I’m sure I’ll be able to wrangle the time off. Be warned, I wouldn’t really consider this as confirmed so don’t get too excited.

Tool Tour Dates Confirmed?

The recent post on Toolband/Army with the ‘confirmed’ tour dates seems to be growing shorter and shorter. Gone are some dates in Amsterdam and London.
