Tour Announced

According to the Roskilde Festival Website:

Introvert art-rock with metal tendencies

In a hall of mirrors you do not know where the others are – as is the case with Tool. It has been five years since the album Lateralus, presenting introvert art-rock with metal tendencies. In 2006, a new album is coming, and Tool makes its second appearance at Roskilde. The journey into Tool’s tunnelling compositions is fascinating. The listener is often whirling in distant, haunting universes, lead by Maynard Keenan’s both aggressive and emotional voice. The insisting music is accompanied by gruesome film sequences making the symbiosis of sensual impressions hit hard. A large-scale experience.

Roskilde Announcement Imminent

Tool are heavily rumoured to be touring Europe in mid-2006.  iamurmama on Toolnavy claimed that in today’s (24-Jan-06?) issue of the Danish paper Politiken, there was a note claiming that Tool will be playing at Roskilde Festival in Denmark (June 29 – July 2).  Now, whether or not we decide to trust someone with a user name like I Am Your Mama, is an issue, however according to the Roskilde Website, and announcement of the lineup for the festival is due tomorrow.  So I guess we’ll know soon enough whether or not the European tour rumours are true…

This just in:

Blair posts on Toolband/Army:

As it now stands, in a few weeks (mid-February) the members of the band (except for Adam) and their manager will be traveling to parts of Europe, England, Japan and Australia on a bit of a promo tour, meaning that they will be meeting with record company people and doing various interviews with the press in order to promote their new record and upcoming tours. Although any press releases are usually timed to coincide with the release of the record, there will undoubtedly be leaks, so those of you who scour the internet should be on the lookout around this time. As the others field questions and deal with promo issues abroad, Adam will remain in Los Angeles to direct the new Tool video.

Exciting stuff.  I guess some big announcements are imminent.

Blair also confirmed that the next  batch of Lateralus Signed Vinyl will be available on the 28th of January, and that he hopes to announce an approximate time soon.  As usual, good luck to all those Fourth Eye readers in the market for a copy, and remember when you do get one, send me the pics!

Tool in UK June/July, Scandinavia July

aToolAhead on Toolarmy posts that:

I got this info from a very (lets emphasize that…VERY) close source to someone in TOOL…that TOOL will be in UK in June/July and in Scandinavia sometime in late July.

I checked with aToolAhead, and presuming he’s not making shit up, the source he mentions IS very close to the band, making the news very reliable.  Simply from a logical point of view, the idea of Tool touring Europe that time of year makes sense.
So here’s a bit of rampant speculation:

  • Tool Mini-Tour in US April-May
  • Tool European Festival Tour June-July
  • Tool Full US Tour August-Oct
  • Tool South American Tour November
  • Tool Asia/Australasia Tour January 2007 (Big Day’s Out maybe – though I kinda hope not…)

European Festivals, Adams Birthday

There’s plenty of rumours going around regarding Tool playing festivals around Europe this Norther Summer, including the previously mentioned Norwegian Festival. The lastest on is about them playing the Roskilde Festival. While there’s plenty of you out there who’d rather see Tool playing their own shows, it’ll still be nice to catch up with the guys, and I’m sure they’ll come back for a more extensive and intimate tour later on….

It’s Adam’s Birthday on the 15th of January, so from all of use here at Fourth Eye, have a good one!

Tool to play in Norway in July?

According Toolshed TV2 in Norway announced that Tool will be playing the QUART festival which is help from the 4th to the 8th of July. The festival website doesn’t seem to have any info confirming or denying this rumour, but hopefully for all of you Norwegian fans out there it’s true. Given the amount of Polish fans that have cropped up lately, I’m expecting a resounding “hi” from you Norwegians as well!
