2nd May, Lateralus Gallery Update
I meant to mention before, that Blair also confirmed that the 2nd of May is the official release date. 50 Days to go.
I’ve also updated the Signed Lateralus Vinyl Gallery. Thanks to Ryan, The Betterfly and Stalkingbutler for their contributions.
I’m still looking for more, and I know that another batch has been sent out recently, so if you’ve got one, make sure you get me the pics.
February Newsletter, Vinyl.
The February Newsletter is now up for reading on Toolband/Army, and amazingly contains some more info about the new release. Don’t get too excited though, there’s no track names or titles….
Looks like some more Lateralus Signed Vinyl may have been released on Valentines Day. If you snapped one up, well done!
Goooonnnnneeeeee…..
Looks like the vinyl has been and gone, some 10 hours+ after the time it was supposed too. Needless to say many people are unhappy with that. The reality is, that given a limited amount of vinyl (presumably 100 or so) and potentially 1000 people wanting it, there’s going to be a lot of dissappointment.
People also complain of the slowness when such a sale is put on the site. This is our course caused by the above mentioned 1000 people after the vinyl, not to mention the other ‘spectators’ on the site at the time. Realistically though, it’s probably not really fair to expect the TA admins to be able to cope with this extra load for a couple of one off events. Being from a develoment and technical background I can say it’s not the simple thing people imagine to create the extra bandwidth/processing power required, not to mention bear the expense.
Hopefully some of you Fourth Eye readers mananged to get a copy, but I’m sure there’s some who didn’t. Congratulations to those who did, and commiserations to those that missed out. Maybe there will be another opportunity, though I expect this was probably the last chance. Keep you’re eye’s on Ebay, and don’t forget to send me pictures to include on the Signed Vinyl Gallery.
Vinyl?
Just a quick update, as of 10:38am my time, it doesn’t appear that the signed vinyl was actually released. No updates have been made on the site, and obviously lots of people are frustracted.
Just a fewl last minute tips though :
- They will appear in TA Specialty
- A couple of people have recommended you use Internet Explorer rather than Firefox. Apparently it seems to deal with the longer loading times better, though personally, I wouldn’t have a clue.

Toolarmy mentions that the next batch of Lateralus Signed Vinyl will be available at 1pm January 28th PST. For all you Australians this translates to 8am on Sunday the 29th, Eastern Standard Daylight Savings time. To work out when it will be available in your part of the world, use this site:

As it now stands, in a few weeks (mid-February) the members of the band (except for Adam) and their manager will be traveling to parts of Europe, England, Japan and Australia on a bit of a promo tour, meaning that they will be meeting with record company people and doing various interviews with the press in order to promote their new record and upcoming tours. Although any press releases are usually timed to coincide with the release of the record, there will undoubtedly be leaks, so those of you who scour the internet should be on the lookout around this time. As the others field questions and deal with promo issues abroad, Adam will remain in Los Angeles to direct the new Tool video.
Exciting stuff. I guess some big announcements are imminent.
Blair also confirmed that the next batch of Lateralus Signed Vinyl will be available on the 28th of January, and that he hopes to announce an approximate time soon. As usual, good luck to all those Fourth Eye readers in the market for a copy, and remember when you do get one, send me the pics!
January Newsletter
Just to keep us on our toes, Blair has also released the January Newsletter, which with the help of a Ouija Board, answers some further questions on the new Tool CD. My Ouija skills are a bit rusty, but it looks as though the CD won’t be released anytime before the 4th of April.
It also looks like the next release of the next Signed Lateralus Vinyl batch will be on the 28th of January.

More Signed Vinyl, New CD Details to come….
Blair posted on Toolarmy today, that it’s higly likely that there will be more Signed Lateralus Vinyl. Not details as yet, but as soon a “Merch” knows, all will be revealed.
He also revealed that he has interviewed someone (a band member – it’s all to cryptic for me) regarding the New CD, and will be sharing this information as soon as he can transfer it from his voice recorder.
