Vinyl, Aloke and Daily Grail Updates

Anohter update on Toolband and Toolarmy indicates that:

  • The Autographed Lateralus Vinyl is on it’s way to the printers. Now I’m not an expert on the vinyl printing industry, but I’d suggest that it’d be several weeks before this becomes available. ‘There will be plenty of advance warning’ Blair says (sort of).
  • Aloke Dutta is playing in Norman, Oklahoma on the 19th of August and in Dallas, Texas on the 20th. Put on your 10 gallon hat’s and party with the tabla master.
  • Daily Grail has some Google Earth coordinates for numerous places including Area 51 and Pine Gap. It even looks like Greg from the Daily Grail is an Aussie. Good onya mate! unfortunately no coordinates of Tool members houses. If you have any let me know!
  • For all you Google Earth (or NASA World Wind) fans out there, try and find me in Yeppoon, Queensland!

Bikini Bandits, More Vinyl

I stumbled upon a Bikini Bandits article, on IGN of all place which very briefly (and pointlessly) mentions A Perfect Circle. If you’re really bored, check it out!

Us Toolarmy lads were welocomed by a picture of Adam holding the much requested Lateralus Vinyl. Looking good Adam now GET BACK TO WORK! ;)

Blair sars info on the Autographed copies will be coming soon. Still no idea of when and how much. Patience is a virtue….

Aloke + Vinyl Pics

Another day, another new post on Toolband about something other than Tool……

This time it’s about their Tabla playing mate Aloke Dutta, who’s got three shows on in August, the first of which will be in Santa Barbara at the Mercury Lounge. Apparently the other shows will be in Oklahoma and Texas. Yeehaw!

For those Laterauls Vinyl lovers, and those that just missed out in the recent sale, heres a pic I grabbed from the website of the in demand item.

Lateralus Vinyl Sold Out!

It looks like the Lateralus Vinyl has either sold out or been removed from the Tool site. I can assure you all it did appear for a few hours last night, and was still available when I went to bed (about 10:30 Australian EST). It seems to be gone this morning, so if you didn’t get one, I’d imagine you’ve missed out. Just have to wait until it arrives in the stores I guess. Hopefully the release gets distributed outside of the United States so that the many international Tool fans who missed out last night can enjoy it.

Blair has posted on the site that the Autographed Copies are NOT yet available, but will be made available to Toolarmy Members in the near future.

He also mentioned stuff about John Ziegler, Volto and possible guest musicians coming up in August. Does anyone in LA go to this stuff?

Non-Autographed

Well, after much hype, presumtions and server crashes, it looks as though the Lateralus Vinyl is available, both on Toolband and Toolarmy. From what I can see they’re not Autographed, holographically or otherwise, and the cost is US$44.99 + US$16 for postage to Australia. That’s about $81 Australian!

I hope the autographed copy is not much more expensive than that!

Smashed

The Toolarmy sites getting smashed at the moment. I sure hope the Administrators were thinking when the let Blair announce that there’s records are on sale. Would be funny if the whole site went down and nothing even goes up for sale!

Anyway, surely there’s gotta be a better way, maybe they could have a lottery or some other way to help people secure the vinyl without bringing the whole machine down.

I’m giving up for now, no point hanging around, especially since I don’t think anythings going up today….

Vinyl Release Notes

Toolband is reporting the Lateralus Vinyl will be made available on the Tool Websites (Toolband and Toolarmy), and will go one sale Monday August 1 (PST). Presumably this means at midnight, though it doesn’t seem to clarify that at all. That’s 5pm for all us Aussies. He also indicates the Limited Holographically Autographed copies will be made available to Toolarmy members, and more details on when where and how much will be post as soon as they’re known. Might have to see if I can pick up one of those babies.

The Toolarmy Extension is going well, I’ve updated it to version 0.5, which now includes a textbox which you can use to enter board and profile numbers and go straight to them. It also allows you to search the members list. If you’re using Firefox give it a go and let me know what you think. If you’re not using Firefox, then you should. Find more details here.

Vinyl and Firefox Extension Update

There’s a bit more information regarding the Lateralus Vinyl on Toolband. It looks as though it will be released in late August, and apparently autographed copies will be made available in limited numbers to Tool fans, presumably Toolarmy members. These autographs will somehow be etched into the vinyl itself rather than on the sleeve, so expect these to cost extra.

You also may remember a few weeks ago I mentioned I was creating a Toolarmy Firefox extension. This is still in the works, but development has slowed down in the last few weeks to to a pretty heavy workload at the moment. This has now pretty much cleared so hopefully some time in the next week you can expect a Beta version to be made available. Stay tuned for details….

From the Net

Here’s just a few things I noticed during the surfing over the weekend:

HMV UK are taking pre-orders for a Tool release on the 19th of September. No indication on what it actually is. For those with a burning desire to pre-order a mystery Tool product go here.

Someone on the alt.music.tool newsgroup posted this link to some photo’s of Maynard and Adam from a concert in Germany. Some very clear photo’s and its interesting to see them in the sunlight for a change.

Finally alleged photo’s of the Lateralus vinyl seem to be appearing about the place. I’m not entirely convinced these are legit, since there seems to be some speculation that it’s in fact a bootleg made and sold a while back. Here’s the pics anyway:

Edit: The link to the photo’s has been corrected, thanks to Maurio and TexasFire for pointing that out.

Lateralus Vinyl – Official

A new post from Blair on the Toolband site confirms that the Lateralus Vinyl Edition will be released some time in August, and that the 23rd ‘sounds pretty good’. This may put to rest the rumours regarding Teleincision coming out in August (presuming of course Teleincicion is a legitimate release at all, which I doubt). More details are to come in the next few days.
