Well it was bound to happen at some point. Vicarious leaked and it was posted at Tool Navy about an hour ago. I wont post a link here for obvious reasons.

OMG, I love this song.
Holy fuckin shit !!!! Beautiful.
Fucking astounding song!!
fucking tool… it fucks with my mind!
God-awful. What the fuck did they do to Maynard’s voice?
APC is dead, long live TOOL!
Best song of all fucking time.
I love the song, tool doesn’t dissapoint!!
Hey lads , do a search on yourtube.com for TOOL–Vicarious……
You might be surprised 😉
Actually its just the single over old footage from one of the live gigs. Background video that I hadn’t seen… damn teasers
Fucking brilliant.Danny’s taken it to the next level (again).I love it.2 weeks ’til Coachella, site of probably the best Tool show ever in 1999.Good times, good times.Peace.
what a fantastic build up and ending
Have toolnavy removed the links?
It’s not the best song ever done by tool. However it still gets me really excited about the whole CD. And maynards vocals go over pretty well with me, even though it sounds like APC a bit. The bass/drums are amazing as usual, and I can’t wait to here the “more solos” Adam was talking about. It doesn’t seem heavier than old tool though, which I thought they were saying it would be.
for all the poor ppl who cant find it. heres the torrent linnk — http://www.mininova.org/get/281769
no jokes this is the real thing 320kb as well
although it is a whopping 16.7mb.
ahhh well
i love this song
Vicarious didn’t hit me on the spot, but 6:35 did.
“lalala lie” is like “with the teetha” :/
its quite a good song. there’s a few points where i think i could have changed it to improve it, but i’m not going to quarrel with anyone about it….
wow the song is amazing, especially the guitar. one thing ’bout maynards voice..it’s pretty rough through the song, dunno if it’s his standart voice in the hole album (i hope it isn’t!!) but myb its because of the tv-topic in the song…know what i mean? drinking too much alc in front of the tv ‘s giving you this sort of voice 😀
“Vicariously I live while the whole world dies
Much better you than I”
peace parad0x
And if you really wanna get funky, you can view the video for Vicarious here:

Disregard my previous post folks, it isn’t the actual vid. Sincere apologies one and all.
Get it here:

Enjoy!
I don’t like it. :9 too radio-rock-ish
Someone sais, if you didnt like the song you dont like tool… what were you expecting?
ANYONE WHO SAYS THIS SONG IS TOO RADIOISH IS STR8 CRAZY. ITS THE FURTHEST THING FROM IT AT OVER 7MINS OF EXOTIC VOCALS/RIFFS. TOOL ONCE AGAIN SHOWED EVERYONE HOW IT IS DONE!
If the single is this good, imagine how the rest of the album will sound.
Great song. Magnificient lyrics.
Pretty good; the 30-second clip was mostly unimpressive but the end of the song is really really amazing. I don’t much care for how the vocals are scaled down though; but whatever.
The song isnt all that great, sounds like it should be on thirteenth step. The chorus is always way too saturated, sounds like linkin park at one point.
VERY radio friendly, prolly an overture-like track…. i dig the subdued dialogue sample hidden in there too…
its like schsim w/o the stilted lyrics!
I really don’t think it has anything to do with 13th Step, and Schism too (that’s just Adam’s guitar, those are different notes… it’s simply his sound!).
Sounds a lot like a perfect circle.
That’s our matter if we compare to schism, is because we cant contemplate the new notes and mixtures. Is like loving or hating by the face we have in memory.

I love the song personally. All 4 of the guys sounded great. After listing to it a few times, it was like Godsmack meets disturbed My gf which doesnt get off on tool the way we do said “its sounds like their last album ‘lateralus’ youde think after 5 years these guys could have grown a little.” My relpy to her was, “get out of the car, bitch” Just Kidding, lol, but I did say, “until you hear the whole thing a few hundred times, you really dont know the intricacy and fully appreciate the true greatness that is tool.… Read more »
I personally enjoy the song. just helped eliminate those doubts I was having about them.
ps – I killed a man tonight, and I don’t know where to dump his body. pm me with suggestons.
bring the body to the police
These lyrics strike a nerve because they conjure things that are hidden in plain view. We are all secretly obsessed with watching tragedy, namely tragedy involving death, from a far removed perspective. If I was making a video for this track, it would be a 7 minute loop of a lion bringing down a gazelle like in one of those wildlife documentaries. But then where would the obligatory stop-motion toolness fit in? Anyway, this is at least as good as anything Tool has done IMO.
TOOLBAND.com seems to be down…
Radio friendly???? Pray tell me where you hear radio tracks like this so I can listen ‘cos the only stuff I ever hear on radio is pre-manufactured, American Idolish pap!!!
Radio friendly indeed!
Did someone say “new Ministry”?
Did anyone grab the WAV file from the link jokile posted?
Seems to have been taken down…
Put it this way for those who say it sounds like APC:
If Vicarious was on an APC album, it would be the best track on the album by far…
I really really like this song!
It’s different but I still love it!
…and TOOLBAND.com is back!
And… not really better than ever.
To all the naysayers:
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
This track is brilliant. I’ll admit the intro is a bit ‘Schism-ish’ but just listen closely to the intricate timing and progressions throughout the rest of the song… it’s a seven minute bohemoth that never drags. Danny once again proves that he is the bast drummer in rock, bar none.
Glad to hear them being angry again. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the record.
