When do the US charts come out?!
Funny how it sold in excess of 70,000 copies to become platinum, yet there were supposedly shortages….
I think the shortages were related to 10,000 Days sales on the release day (Saturday) and more shipments were recieved later that week. I know from what I’ve seen up here in Rockhampton that there’s no shortage of 10,000 Days at all.
Don’t know if it was mentioned in other posts, but JB were selling US imports on the first few days (and may still be) to cover the Australian shortages. I wonder if these sales still count towards the charts?
So based on that I’d guess I possibly have a US Import copy, since to the best of my knowledge I got one from JB in the first batch.
Is there any way to tell?
on the actual CD, mine mentions Australia, so I assume its an Australian version and I got mine from JB in Brisbane on the 29th. Hmm… 29th April, seems so long ago!!! Clearly that explains why the miners requested Foo Fighters… they just didn’t know 10,000 days had been released…
Wow, 70,000 is a fair effort!
Take that Pearl Jam.

I spotted mine was American from the FBI warning on the back cover. There’s also some made in the USA stuff in the fine print.
LOL, Maynard’s now an “eccentric rocker”!
I have the FBI warning on mine as well.
is 70,000 copies platinum there.. god that is low. here in canada and the USA it is 1 million coppies. and they are expected to sell in excess of 600,000 copies first week(in the usa only)
I doubt it would be 1 Million copies in Canada. It varies from country to country, depending on the population size. Remember Australia only has 18 Million people, compared to nearly 300 Million in the US.
If my maths is correct (and that’s a big if!) then it would take more copies of 10,000 Days per person to reach platinum in Australia than it would in the US.
I thought platinum was only 50 000 and gold was 70 000. either way its still more sales per capita then america to reach platinun
Platinum is worth more than gold, therefore higher (I think)… It might be the other way around, gold 50 000, but that’s my guess. Not that it matters.
yeah that sounds right, come to think of it
Howdy,
In AUS, Platinum is 70000 units. Gold is 35,000. Tool reached platinum. Pearl Jam got Gold.
As an indication, James Blunt is 6 times Platinum… 420,000 copies….
With a projected population of 20,651,796 (http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs%40.nsf/94713ad445ff1425ca25682000192af2/1647509ef7e25faaca2568a900154b63?OpenDocument), that means that 1 in 50 people have a James Blunt CD, and only 1 in 300 have a 10,000 days CD…
Last week, James Blunt held onto No. 1 with 11,118 sales. No. 2 was the Veronicas, which sold 5637.
For Tool to go platinum in a week is as huge effort in Oz.
10,000 Days has made Number 4 in the UK, with Pearl Jam coming in at number 5. Come on the Tool boys!
Snow Patrol? What the hell is wrong with those Brits…..
Who the hell is James Blunt?
did anyone click on that link up there and read that shit?
do it. its really fucking funny.
not the article itself, the comments.
as the man himself bill hicks would say, “some serious humanity.”
what’s wrong with james blunt? he’s a hopeless romantic. we need more of those these days. what we don’t need is another tool fanatic… fucking terrorists.
i just dont like anyone (james blunt) who gets played on love song dedication programs
another fucking aussie. gee. if you don’t like the love god… don’t listen to him. did you actually know that mix 106.5 / love song dedications once played APCs 3 libras? sure sure… its by request. don’t miss the point.
gee. “I hate love. cause love hates me.” boo hoo. “love sucks…” boo hoo. that’s cause youre hideous!
Did the US versions you got from JBHIFI have the Australian disc in them? Cos, mine says Made in EU on the packaging, but inside had an Australian disc.
Just checked, mine (from JB Hi-Fi) was manufactured in the US, so presumably a US import. Wouldn’t surprise me if the normal Australia CD’s are manufactured in Europe.
haha some of the posts by Jonas here are actually funny, the rest are full of tryhard attempts at humour. Its sad you cant be “on” all the time Jonas, lift your fucking game slacker.
