Australian Tour

Triple J finally got around to announcing, that Tool will be playing:

  • Sydney 24th January, 2007
  • Melbourne 31st January, 2007
  • Dates in NZ, Queensland, Adelaide and Perth to be announced.

Tickets go on sale later this month (the 25th of August according to the website the other day).

Several hints regarding the Big Day Out were dropped, so I think it’s safe to say Tool will be the headling act on this years event.  Stay tuned.

I am aroused!

I am also in the early stages of planning a summer road trip revolving around Tool shows here in Australia – thank God I have saved many dollars!

Also, as expected, the Ticketmaster page now works again when you search for Tool:

I’m still aroused…

I’m complaining because tool have lowered their standards of musicianship and have allowed themselves to be complacent. That’s why I believe the majority of people/fans should boycott their shows.

To sum it up, they’re making a quick easy buck over naive tool fans who think that by them playing their “old classics” is enough to satisfy us.

ok I’ll shut up now.

You hit it on the head matto. I do understand people’s frustration with the comparitive link to older heavier material but these guys are in their early 40’s don’t forget.

So I reckon it’s alright!

The only person that I know who thinks that 10,000 Days sucks rates Undertow as by far their best album… they said Aenima was good but that Lateralus and 10,000 Days sucked.

I no longer communicate with this person.

‘Of all the Tool fans I’ve spoken to, less than 5% think 10,000 Days sucks. The majority thinks Tools standards of musicianship is just as high, and have no issue with them become “complacent”.’-hellboy

Less than 5%?..hmmm….where did you pull those stats from?

well the people I’ve spoken to and met on forums and in life all feel the same way as me. Maybe so more the older fans than the n00bs anyway.

Anyone have any ideas on how much the tickets will be? I’m in Perth, but flying over to Brissie to head off on a road trip with a mate to see Tool play Bris, Syd and Mel.

Seeing as Pearl Jam are charging a little over $100 for their upcoming tour, I thought Tool might be around the $120 mark? I’m gonna need to come up with some serious coin for this trip.

Nah BDO is down around $115 ish. Just make sure you get in early for them as they I know sydney normally sells out in just over a week.

But they have been selling tickets in lots to slow down the scalpers. Like 500 a week after the intial sellout.

The last Tool tour was 60-70 bucks.

i remember paying 80 on the live tool tour (in bris lateralus tour). big day out usually goes up 5 bucks every year so I guess it will be 120 bucks this time around

If Cog play next year’s BDO then I’m sure to be there.

The ticketmaster link has gone down again, not that it probably means anything.

Well, not being in Australia, I doubt it helps, but I payed 70 bucks (U.S.) for my floor ticket. Not sure yet if it’s gonna be one of these “bigger shows,” but I’ll tell ya in a few weeks. It’s in an arena though… with about 16000 seats off the floor.

But I don’t know.

And in case there has been any confusion – I love 10,000 days. Except maybe Vicarious ATM… but I’m hoping the video will fix that. So I hope I’m not one of those two.

And the link’s back again…

Tool tickets for their 2002 tour here in Australia were about AU$80-90 if I remember rightly.
I’d expect to them be around $100 this time around.

jonas still pops in occasionaly although havent seen him for a few weeks. big day out i think is expensive but for what your getting its well worth it. bdo announcement is 1st of sep but ‘hellboy’ did you ever think that RHCP may headline it no matter how shit and lame and fuck they are. farrkkk 100 buks for a tool ticket thats a little steep — not that i wouldnt pay it but if it was a lame show id feel abused (ie no third eye) on the topic of bdo — fourtheye/tool/bdo t-shirts should be on the… Read more »

The ticketek search is turning up nothing. Why can’t they all be there so I can get all my tickets at the one time…? It’s going to be tricky being in three places at once, but I’m sure I’ll manage.

Tool’s tickets are selling through Ticketmaster.

I’m curious…. do Tool army members get pre-sale options? I know Nine inch nails had a fan-club presale before the actual presale.

ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT TOOL PRESALES, add me on msn no_loveinfear@hotmail.com

Thankyou darlings!

vuduchild

Doubt there will be any presales… best bet is to tune some young man who works at ticketmaster or queue up early (aka day before) for any “gold” tickets… buying tickets is going to suck, not for the cost just for getting them

i got my prague tix for $40 (US), and these were front row or whatever you call them.

it was worth every cent tho. not much more than that, TBH. it’s not that i didn’t enjoy the show… it’s just.. i dunno. wasn’t as religious as i thought it would be. perhaps it was for the best.

oh – and there’s also this: (from http://www.theprp.com)

Piss Bottle Man – wookubus
(6:22 PM PST 08/15/2006)
The Mars Volta’s recent live set in Auburn, WA this past Saturday, August 12th took a turn for the worse when around halfway through their set, the group were pelted with bottles filled with urine by members of the crowd. Unsurprisingly, the show was cut short. The band will release their new album “Amputechture” will see a September 12th release.

Haha. Thats crazy. I guess they were opening for RHCP that night? No love for opening acts. Wouldn’t expect that from RHCP fans though.

Some ticket info from toolnavy (posted by Prison_Sex):

Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne

PRICES GOLD SILVER
DESCRIPTION: RESVD GENADM
————
ALL TICKETS $107.33 $96.33

Seating map – http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/images/venue_graphics/6/myermusic3.jpg

Not much of a price difference between reserved and general admin, but my guess of $100 tickets seems to be spot on!

Hey Hellboy… If you’re wanting just one Sydney ticket I’m willing to buy it for you and exchange it at cost. I’m feeling rich (actually I’ve been saving up for this for months…), that would mean you’d only have to do the Brisbane BDO which would be simple, if it’s more than one ticket however, I don’t think I can help… I’m not that rich.
