Mattia sent me this link today in which Aaron from Isis speaks to MTV. They talk about their tour plans, and how they hope to tour here in Australia later on this year. This suggests to me that they won’t be playing with Tool in January. Aaron also talks about the new CD In The Absence Of Truth, which you can preview by downloading the new song Dulcinea from Ipecac. Here’s the cover art for you as well:

A bit of a plug here, but Knucklehead on Toolarmy is looking for a copy of the Lateralus signed vinyl. He’s very keen to get it, and is willing to trade a sealed copy of the Aenima LP. If anyones interested, either let me know or PM him on TA.
Isis do nothing for me
Hey what’s happening over at the Toolshed opinion page?
All I get is this message:
“IGNITE IGNITE IGNITE IGNITE IGNITE IGNITE IGNITE IGNITE IGNITE”
What’s happened? Maybe Tool have just played Wings For Marie/10,000 Days live for the first time in Vancouver – who knows?
or maybe I’m wrong…
I don’t want to start internet panic but if their system is struggling because of a massive number of members posting etc. then I predict that it’s because of what I said above.
I hope I am right…
Didn’t Maynard post that IGNITE… stuff during a toolarmy chat or someother random appearance a while ago?
Oh yes please Isis come to Aus/NZ,.
I’m not to sure about that cover art but we’ll have to see inside for the full effect. Aaron Turner defines a quality, minimalistic aesthetic for a dying (cd) format, I love the Oceanic and the self-titled Jesu liner notes.
Isis are ok, I don’t get that excited about them though. I’d see them if they were playing with Tool, or if they came to my town, but I probably wouldn’t make the trip to the big city to see them.
ipecac link doesnt work. isis are kinda alright. i only really like red sea or something like that
Sorry about the link there, I think Ipecac changed it. Try the link on this page:

ISIS are just about the most boring band I’ve ever seen.
Their music is just plain flapping boring, but hey if you’re into long, bland, drawn out until you can’t bear hearing them any more riffs, good for you.
Hey Doors, rather than being so negative all the time, how about sharing with us what you actually like?
Yeah, cool. I like non-consensual sex and cog.
I think I read some where that international bands have to have at least one Australian support band. Imho, Cog would be a very good band for Tool support. Although some international bans seem to pick the worst support bands they can find. I don’t know why they do this, but I hope Tool pick a good one.
paragon=WINNAR!
I think it used to be the case that they had to have an Aussie band, but I think those days are over. After all The Melvins supported Tool last time.
As for Cog, I could take them or leave them, I wouldn’t object to seeing the Cosmic Psycho’s open again like on the first Lateraus tour. Or maybe the Mark of Cain, now that would be a great opening act…
I don’t have a spare copy of Lateralus vinyl to trade BUT i’ll PAY a reasonable amount for your Aenima vinyl!! seriously man!

Hellboy – the Melvins certainly supported Tool last time, but you may also remember the boring female goth DJ who played before the Melvins. I believe she was only there to provide Australian content (certainly not anything of quality though).
Having said that however, I believe the rule/law/requirement no longer applies anyway.
Yeah, Isis doesn’t do anything for me either. But maybe the show will change that! Here’s to hoping.
And man–this place sure blew up in the two days I’ve been gone.
Date Rape!
Hmm, ok I don’t remember the DJ, but when I managed to get into the show in Adelaide The Melvins were already playing. Since I got there no more than 30 minutes after the doors opened, the DJ must have done a pretty short set.
Cosmic Psychos wont be supporting as Rob Watts passed away after a gig in Ballarat. I vote for Rose Tattoo!!
Yeah but Rob wasn’t a full time Cosmic Psycho’s member was he?
Anyway, isn’t the gutarist from Rose Tattoo dead as well?
I think Isis are amazing..2nd best band for me by far, anyone catch their Annandale Gig last year? incredible..new song sounds amazing as well, new album n dvd should be awesome
H., did you know that the ‘Clearing The Eye’ DVD will contain the full Annandale gig?
Can’t wait…
This new stuff sounds a lot better than what I had heard before of them. Maybe they are finally getting it that the almost constant growling/screaming/groaning just doesn’t work on its own.
Something for Volta fans… ‘cuz I asked earlier what the concept behind Amputechture is. “This album’s a commentary about the fear of God instead of the love of God, which goes hand-in-hand with Catholicism,” he said. “To me, religion is the reason there is so much conflict in this world, and I think it’s just so unnecessary to believe in this blue-eyed, white-bearded, white-haired God. Amputechture is my personal way of describing enlightenment, or just the celebration of this person who is a shaman and not a crazy person. It’s about the pineal gland and how it has certain elements… Read more »
Sounds like he doesn’t really know much correct information about Catholicism…but then that is usually where the anti-Catholic sentiments come from: misinformation, misunderstandings, inaccurate religious education, and rumors.
I like their music, but I don’t like how they have to bring some sort of anti-religious commentary into the picture. It is “great” how often it is that those who make public statements against a certain religion actually just don’t know what they are talking about.
Since you we’re so nice in your censuring, I’ll just ignore ya. …And maybe advise that you stop listening to TOOL before you realize it’s not Norma Jean.

Yeah, I am Catholic, but you would find me looking to correct someone if they were misrepresenting another religion as well. The reason I listen to Tool is because they put out intelligent music, and Maynard’s lyrical content makes intriguing statements. Loads of musicians don’t believe in Christ. That doesn’t mean that I can’t listen to their opinion on things. Intelligent music is not just for atheists. And if I don’t agree with everything a particular band has to say, (mind you, it is only on a couple of their songs) that doesn’t mean that I’m just going to ignore… Read more »
