According to a post from one of the JJJ staff on their forums, more tickets will be going on sale for the Melbourne and Sydney shows. Expect these releases to be pretty small though, and probably just as chaotic, so while you should get excited and prepared, don’t expect to just waltz in a grab them either…
There will also be dates announced in other states. There’s no indication if these will be Tool shows or part of the Big Day Out‘s, but hopefully for those of you who missed out, you will get another chance to see your favorite rockers in the flesh. Keep tuned to Triple J (if you can stand the shitty music that is) for details…
On the ticket hookup front, there’s obviously plenty of people interested in picking up some tickets, though not so many with spares. If you do have any spares at all, or are interested in swapping Sydney tickets for Melbourne, or vice versa, then please let me know.
If you look at the S.E.C. seating plan for Tool where it says “Side View”, I reckon those are the seats they are talking about being put on sale…?
I so hope they do a Brisbane sideshow – that would be awesome!
Surely Tool’s popularity here and the quick ticket sellouts will make them consider additional shows.
5 months is plenty of time to announce extra shows so don’t worry too much people…
Too right Mattw. I would expect Brissie to sell-out as well. I’m really hoping for a Brissie show cause I bailed out of Sydney, twas a big risk!
brisbane would sell out for sure…though i think a few sydney ticket holders may try and then offload their sydney tickets (which isn’t a bad thing for the sydney people who missed out).
i’m amazed this wasn’t more well thought out. was it underestimation by the promoters or restrictions on the bands touring?
Probably an underestimation by the promotors. But then again Tool have a fan base like no others. Tool have very little in the way of commercial exposure, yet have a die hard fan base which eclipses most bands out there.
That’s something that’s quite hard for promoters to gauge.
Anyway, I really do hope there are more shows, and I’d consider selling my Sydney ticket and going to Brisbane if there was a show there….
well i know one other artist that has a fan base like no other…tori amos. her shows last year were also extremely underestimated after being away about 11 years, she sold out sydney just in the presales mostly, melbourne gone in minutes, brisbane sold out, they had to add 2 extra sydney, 1 extra melbourne and they could have sold out another brisbane (plus perth and adelaide). everyone was quite amazed i think at the reception. ticket buying was a catastrophe, i managed to get some on VIP preferred but it took myself and quite a few other people on… Read more »
Anyway, I’ve always thought of Nine Inch Nails as an epic band, but they’ve never really had that great of success in (immediate) sales. The Fragile was their biggest success in 1st week sales, yet is considered their biggest failure. So I would think it is difficult to gage.
(…That didn’t need the “anyway”… or the mispelling.)
NIN did have a huge tour despite that fact though. I’d think that just adds to the confusion.
Why would they not put them ALL on to start with? It just seems silly to me. So many people were trying for ages and missed out entirely, it would have given them a greater chance and this next round will be hectic.
I missed Tori last year unfortunately… I saw the price and looked at my bank, and it wasn’t pretty.
the reason they dont sell them all at once is so that scalpers cant buy heaps and sell them for inflated prices. if they hold them and then distribute them over a period of time then *sold out/rare etc* means nothing and scalpers can only fetch the asking price. if that makes sense
That does make sense… but it’s not exactly working is it? Look at ebay… it’s absolutely insane. Perhaps they should announce that there will be more tickets on sale if it sells out as quickly as it did, as it’s been pre-planned to do that anyway. But I don’t claim to know much about this at all… Just doesn’t seem to be working.
Ah Charred Remains… Doesn’t all this talk about tickets and scalping just make you appreciate all those die-hard fans who lined up last Thursday night/Friday morning in order to get the best possible seats? And doesn’t it make you feel good inside that some complete random whom you had never meet bought you and your friend Gold Reserve Seats in the first section for the Melbourne gig? That guy must have been an absolute legend… Anyway, as I said above, hopefully Tool will announce some more shows not just including Big Day Out dates. Their quick sellout in Syd and… Read more »
Please ignore the spelling mistakes in my post above and any I might have made in this post…
I am idiot!
I sure hope more shows or tickets come out, missing out on the others by a hair, im extremely pi**ed off,im contemplating paying big money on ebay for tickets, but not sure,do you guys think i should pay for ebay tickets,or wait and see if more come out?i just dont want to do the wrong thing and miss out on this, its gonna be awesome..
Personally, if I didn’t have tickets, I probably wouldn’t buy anything for a few months. Wait until the Big Day Out announcement has been made, and I suspect that some of the heat on ticket prices will be removed.
The only reason they’re expensive no is because they’re hot. Probably December is the best time to by, past the inital rush, but not last minute where the prices will go back up.
It does indeed mattw, on both accounts, and you already know you are indeed a legend. 🙂
Ivan, try on sites like toolnavy or echoing the sound. People there generally sell for cost. You probably wont get something immediately, but you have have 5 months to get them. If that doesn’t work I suggest you follow hellboy’s advice.
if more sideshows are going to be anounced would they get anounced before BDO goes on sale? i have no idea when BDO goes on sale…after october isn’t it?
otherwise its the same crap over again debating whether to buy in or wait.
BDO lineup comes out early september. Tickets normally in october . Last year after initial release they released a extra 500 a week leadin all the way up to xmas.
^thank you.
i have my fingers crossed.
The rumour is that the BDO announcement will be October 4th (thanks to a Muse press release), with tickets going on sale about 9 days later.
I really wouldn’t be suprised if the Sydney BDO sells out in a day this year, last year it sold out in just over a week. And the lineup didn’t have a drawcard like Tool on it. So yeah, all those going to Sydney BDO, buy your ticket ASAP. I know I will be.
Yeah, I agree with that. I’m pretty sure it’s normally around the beginning of October that BDO’s are announced. Would be nice if Muse are playing, I’ve been interested in seeing them live for a while now.
Tickets will sell out quickly, and I certainly won’t be hesitating in getting my tickets on Day 1. I strongly urge all of you planning to come along to do the same.
Muse did announce dates a day either side of Tool, so I’d say its safe to assume that they are locked in.
when MJK and Chris Cornell share that special moment at BDO I’ll be there.
so, back to the first paragraph topic:
