The Toolband.com news seems to be up and running again, this time with a post from Blair telling people that he’s anticipating a great show at the Staples Center in LA tonight. Does this mean it’ll be great as in the first time they play 10,000 Days? Who knows. If you are going to the gig, let us all know what happens.
J. Pirro has sent me a link to his excellent review of a Tool show in Oakland. It’s quite long, so here’s a quick excerpt for you:
The next moment of awe for me was during “Soberâ€, when the band faded to all but a whisper as Maynard sung the third and final verse. His words were sung across the stadium by what had to be the entirety of the audience, and it was absolutely ethereal to hear that many voices in unison speaking such dark words. “Lateralisâ€, however, was the number that brought the arena to its feet in amazement, for not only had the three large light structures above the band (which first appeared in “Right In Twoâ€) rotated to re-portray themselves as giant spinning “fans†of light, but at the first blast of the drums, the arena was lit with a giant wall of lights — three towers of eight stalks of dazzling lights each — as well as a swarm of multihued lasers that swept across the arena like a thousand splintering searchlights.
