I noticed that Big Day Out tickets will go on sale at 12:01am Friday on the festival’s website (local time for each show I assume) and all other outlets from the start of business on Friday morning. So you’ll be waiting up if you absolutely must have them when they go on sale.
If you’re bored and in Perth on Saturday, Ronan tells me there’s a Tool night being held at the Leederville Hotel at 8pm. Might be worth looking into…
i dont think there is any need, they dont sell out that fast
why 12:01 and not 12:00? that could screw up someones biorhythmic fucking calender
“i dont think there is any need, they dont sell out that fast”
They sold out in just over a week in Sydney last year. I’m expecting it to sell out quicker this year. Other cities probably won’t have the same demand though.
Tool are there this time, it may sell out far quicker.. Metallica one sold out pretty quick didnt it?
For that year it did. This years BDO was by far the quickest the BDO has sold out in Sydney. The Scalper factor is going to play a part, but I hope that Tool fans beat them too it.
Homebake sold out in 3 hours. The Falls in a morning, Splendour in a day – and that was with their ticketing system grinding to a halt. Festivals in Australia are selling out lightning fast at the moment, and its best not to risk it.
Last year, for anyone with any brains, scalping wasn’t a problem. They released 500 tickets a week after it sold out until sometime in early January I think. I imagine they will do the same this year. So if it sells out incredibly quickly I wouldn’t be too worried, but it’s still best to be in early.
I’m still dreaming they announce Massive Attack or someone like Katatonia on the second annoucement… I’d be amazed if it happened, but that would make my day.
“I’m still dreaming they announce Massive Attack or someone like Katatonia on the second annoucement… I’d be amazed if it happened, but that would make my day.”
Katatonia is not going to happen, but if it did i would be over the moon.
I know… it’s not. But I’m allowed to hope.
ive been listening to a little muse-ic lately. anyone like muse??
Muse… I used to like them, saw them live once and they weren’t too bad. But I haven’t listened to them since I heard their new album, I guess I’m not being fair on them… but I just hated it!
Oh… BDO tickets tonight, haha, I forgot.
Hey can someone please tell me what the ticket limit is for the BDO website? I am gonna buy 1 gold coast ticket and 3 sydney tickets (me and 2 mates, I’m no scalper!) so I am just wondering if I can do that all tonight on-line or not…?
If you can only buy one ticket for each show on-line then that’s cool as I will go get the other tickets tomorrow etc. Any info/help would be most appreciated – thanks!
Hey Matt… I know you’re no scalper. As far as I can tell you should be able to do it all online tonight, it doesn’t mention anything about restrictions at all.
If it wont let you I can buy one for you, I know you’re up for paying me back. But I think it should be all good to get them for both shows. And anyway… you’re only getting 4 tickets, if there was a limit I’m sure it would be higher than that.
Well I ordered my BDO tickets on-line. There was a 4 ticket limit so my 3 for Sydney and 1 for the Gold Coast worked out just fine… Just a word of warning for those of you who buy tickets on-line from the BDO site: be patient in terms of waiting for a confirmation email, ticket delivery etc. When you do confirm your purchase there is no instant receipt that flashes up outlining your purchase and apparently it takes some time to send out all the confirmation emails. So just chill out/take it easy/relax or whatever it is you kids… Read more »
^By the way, the BDO site also charges a $7.50 or $7.95 booking fee for EACH ticket – bastards!
I am so angry I might just send them a sternly worded email… or just deal with it.
The BDO server is so bullshit. I’ve been trying for over an hour to get BDO tickets, this fucking sucks. Fuck all the scalpers who are buying tickets instead of me clogging the server!!!
Yeah… It clogged up just before midnight, they opened it about 12:10 or something… and it was horrible getting through. Fucker kept crashing. I got it all done by 12:40, so by the looks of it I had a good run.
$7.50 each ticket? I only bought one, so I assumed it was for the whole transaction. Bastards!
Ok have a look what was in my confirmation email this morning:
Total Ticket Cost includes:
Ticket Price: AUD $115.00 (per ticket) x 4 = $460.00
Booking Fee: AUD $7.00 (per ticket) x 4 = $29.50
Postage Fee AUD $3.70
Total Cost: AUD $493.20
I don’t want to sound like I’m being really fussy or anything but my maths tells me that 4 x $7 = $28, not $29.50
Who knows? That booking fee for each ticket is gonna make them a lot of extra cash… oh well.
Maybe I will write that sternly worded email… 🙂
SYDNEY IS SOLD OUT!
Not quite. They will release 10,000 more tickets for Sydney in a similar way to last year: maybe 1000 a week for 10 weeks etc. Last year they did 500 a week for a number of weeks leading up to the event…
Alternatively, if you still want to go there should be plenty of tickets left for Auckland, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth
Goog luck 🙂
so sydney’s sold out.
I’m blaming you replayee and your fellow MUSE fans.
And if you dont get a ticket you can pay the security guard at the rubbish disposal section.
I did it at Homebake because scalpers were trying to sell $75 tickets for $150 and i did it for bdo last year for the same reason.
Fuck! I didn’t know it was selling at midnight last week, and I work at 9am and gave money to a friend for the Sydney one… but he missed out on them! I fucking hope there’s another sale… Not quite. They will release 10,000 more tickets for Sydney in a similar way to last year: maybe 1000 a week for 10 weeks etc. Last year they did 500 a week for a number of weeks leading up to the event… Mattw… where did you get that sourced? I’ve been on the forums and they seem to give off the vibe… Read more »
they did it last year, exact same situation!
I have a ticket, the system works… sort of. Won’t be suprised if I’m slugged with $500 worth of dishonour fees as I didn’t get confirmation so I kept trying again and again. Now all I have to do is secure a ticket to the Gold Coast BDO as well and I’m set. It was insane how fast it sold out. I’m glad I was able to get a ticket when I had the chance. “Not quite. Thanks Kel, that’s great news! Oh, if you got too many for trying so many times, please let me know… I would certainly take one off your hands, and for the rest I can advertise them on fourtheye (provided you’re selling them at cost).
I think that’s what you mean anyway… oh, I remember them saying they’ll cancel some if you buy too many, kinda got over-enthused. We’ll see…
And for those who didn’t see it, here is an “official” source
