The second announcement for the Big Day Out was made today, and joining Tool, Muse, etc are whole truckload of generally unexciting (to me anyway) bands.
Highlights for me include You Am I, The Butterfly Effect, Afra & the Incredible Beatbox Band, The Streets and The Crystal Method. No one that I’d go out of my way to see, but I feel would put on a good show anyway.
One more announcement is expected, presumably at the beginning of December, and it’s likely to be pretty much all local bands. Those holding out for Primus can probably start crying into their beers now. Here’s the full line-up so far:
The Streets, Kasabian, Crystal Method DJs, Justice, Trivium, John Cooper Clarke, Afra & The Incredible Beatbox Band, Lily Allen, Lupe Fiasco, Diplo, John Butler Trio, Something for Kate, You Am I, Little Birdy, The Presets, Bob Evans, The Drones, The Butterfly Effect, love [tattoo] and Shapeshifter join Tool, Muse, Violent Femmes, The Killers, Peaches, My Chemical Romance, Spank Rock, Jet, Eskimo Joe, Scribe, Evermore, The Sleepy Jackson, The Herd and The Spazzys.
I’m still holding onto the 3rd announcement for the Big Players. I still think the Headline still doesn’t hold weight against previous years (Bar Tool of course!).
It’s great to see heaps of Aussie music in there but it’s not mean’t to be Homebake!
woo. more bands. nothing particularly special though. butterfly effect will be alright.
what do people think of the new butterfly effect album? i’ve only heard a couple songs and i didnt really like it.
It’s ok. I’m not a massive fan of the style but it’s kinda easy listening
Disappointing… There’s more bands I want to avoid rather than see. I hope there’s something good on the next announcement, but I doubt it.
There is only one band right now that would make me want to go to BDO ’07 and that’s Bloc Party (new album next year). Yeah laugh all you want. Let me make it easier for you ‘Indie faggot.’
The Violent Femmes have got some good mileage out of one song. I am assuming they do have more than just ‘Blister in the Sun’??
Muse is good, Jet i’d like to see the stage collapse on them, i’m glad their new album is tanking, one trick ponies…
The Violent Femme’s have got some good songs, I’ll be checking them out unless there’s some major clash with someone better. Sure hope they don’t play Blister In The Sun though, I’m so sick of that song…..
I’ll be checking out Muse too, though personally I’ve always found their songs a little hit and miss. I’ll also check out Trivium, just cause they’re the token metal band, though I can’t say I’ve ever heard a song of theirs.
They might be called My Chemical Romance, but if the chemical is bleach it obviously leaves you devoid of
any original ideas of music.
Piss poor BDO lineup, apart from TOOL.Will be hanging
out for PEEPING TOM, SLAYER march 07.
It’s not too late to add MARK OF CAIN.
Now doors, stay away from that bleach. It’s all good.
