Tool start at 8pm?

According to an email Mattw received from Ticketmaster:

Dear Patron,

This is a courtesy email regarding the Tool concert at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on the 24th of January.

Please note that Tool will perform the entire show and are expected to be on stage by approximately 8:00pm.  There will be no support act.

RUNNING TIMES         (Time)
Ticketed Start:                       8:00pm
Main Act:                               8:00pm-10:00pm                    TOOL

Please be aware that these running times are approximate and may change slightly.

Kind regards

I very much doubt that they will really start at 8.  Getting  12,500 people inside in time for Tool to start at 8pm just doesn’t compute.  Expect the actual starting time to be closer to 8:30.  I’d still suggest you turn up to get in at 8pm anyway, or maybe a little before just to be safe.

Do you realise that those sticks are basically the only sticks that Dan hasn’t broken during a show?

Yeah tool was shit at Goldie BDO. i’ve seen them 6 times now and that was their worst performance yet. the sound wasn’t very good and Muse pissed all over them. They still got me as a fan.

Wow… just woke up from Sydney, too tired to write a review right now. But I found someone posted an mp3 of the concert at http://www.mediafire.com/?fz14mz3wile.

Haven’t listened to it yet so I’m not sure what it’ll be like…

Holyfuckingshit… Good show, even 3 rows from the back. Maynard barely spoke, but i noticed before jambi he said something about Pee-Wee’s playhouse. i also noticed that the Genie is Pee-Wee’s playhouse was named Jambi.

Coinsidance… most likely.

ghahahaah probably because it was probably the shittest show they had played in a while. honestly muse was a 10000000 times better, lights, sound everything. and this is coming from someone who had to sit through jet just to get a nice spot for tool!

which was right *on a small person* on the barrier.

oooooohhhh review soon and pics of me with my drumstick 😀

I can’t possibly see how Muse were better than Tool. The show in Sydney was easily the best concert I’ve seen… ever. It was just perfect, sound, crowd, lights, everything. My ribs are still sore from the barrier :).

I remember Muse on their last tour were okay, but nothing special, and that was at their own show which I’m sure would be better than a BDO one.

Ridiculous abuse against TOOL for the Gold Coast show.. ungrateful so and so… it however was a complete and utterly different experience at the Sydney show and probably the best I have ever heard/seen TOOL… Dont know if its the Sydney crowds vs Melb Crowds but it was pumping in there.. looking forward to the Melb reaction.

Strange there was no mention of a return trip Nov/Dec at the dedicated gig.. perhaps he forgot.

I was in the seats too…. the moshpit sounds like it was a mixed bag as per usual. Standing ovation after Wings / 10,000 Days was awesome and a quick look around the crowd saw many watery eyes and the biggest smiles ive seen for ages.

One of the highlights prior to the show for me and the missus was see’ing the TOOL family going in, Mum Dad Kids all kitted up in TOOL gear and all looked pumped, my mum and dad suck!

replayee were you at the sydney show?

i thought sydney was fucking spectacular… first time seeing the band, had great seats, sound was perfect from where we were, maynard’s voice pure – album quality stuff… the mosh looked even better, and fortunately today big day out’s mosh was unbelievably good. Tool seriously rocked! Was completely blown away -in particular by danny’s insane live performances – were there others who felt the same? Great crowds as well, great atmosphere and good vibes.

Can’t fucking wait for December!

some quick observations on both Sydney gigs -when participating in a mexican wave the seats flip up, the results are amusing when people forget. -SEC side-show crowd, where I was on the floor, respectful, appreciative. -10,000 days wings= religious experience -SEC show was an aural, visual sensory overload. At times you could feel the bass thru your whole body. -a benchmark show. -BDO was interesting, a greedy, commercial, fest with the IQ of the crowd about half the nite before, only saved by TOOL and with a little help from Muse. -when attending the other BDOs I’d suggest take plenty of water… Read more »
