The weeks poll is a reflection. Since 10,000 Days has now been out for over a year, what are your thoughts on it?   Where does it rank for you in the overall scheme of things? Feel free to discuss!
Personally I love it still. It’s probably an equal favorite with Lateralus, with Aenima not really all that far behind…..
1. Lateralus
2. 10,000 Days
3. Aenima
4. Undertow
5. Opiate
As you can see, in my opinion, 10,000 days is the only TOOL album that wasn’t better than its predecessor. I was dissapointed I didn’t like it as much as Lateralus, but it still kicks arse. Lateralus will probably never be beaten. Masterpiece
What s/he said.
Emotive. ha.
I agree with Trout Mask
1.Aenima (Complete record from top to bottom)
2a.Undertow (Unique and original)
2b.Lateralus (Experimental and spiritual)
4.10,000 Days (It seems like something is missing and could have used a couple of more songs)
10,000 days just didnt give me the boner other tool albums did. even opiate
1. Lateralus
2. Aenima
3. Opiate
4. 10,000 Days
5. Undertow
I can’t see how you could say 10k Days is better than Aenima. I can hardly pick between Lateralus and Aenima, they are both amazing, but I don’t think 10k Days comes close to either.
1. Aenima
2. Undertow
3. Opiate
4. Lateralus
5. 10k days
I think the next album will be good, but as far as 10k days i was more than disappointed.
worst tool album imo.
10,000 days is a decent album, i like it better than undertow and opiate but much less than lateralus and aenima. However, if 10kd had a few more legitimate songs and not seques then possibly it could be my fav. IMO it only has 7 songs on it, but those 7 are pretty amazing.

9. 10,000 Days
10,000 Days is a good album – just not a good album for me.[/quote]
That’s quite bizarre bizarre. I mean, the demo tape above Undertow? I mean, I can understand liking the earlier Tool more than the later, but then Lateralus is at the top of the same list. I just can’t comprehend what sort of taste is working on that. :p

But Lateralus only has 7 songs and just as many segues, yet no one seems to bring that up as a criticism of that album.
I love 10kdays, I think it’s some really stunning work. Wings for Marie rips me apart in beautiful ways. Definitely the highlight for me. I think there’s plenty about the album I still haven’t dug into enough to really connect with like I have Lateralus, but it’s beautiful work.
I’d rank it just below Lateralus and Aenima behind that. They’re better artists than I could ever hope to be. I wish I could hear them live again!

Yeah you all should listen to 10,000 Days more, and really really loud. Keep listening. The way they layer and fit the parts together is, I think, the best so far. It’s mesmerizing. It still loses to Lateralus for me due to some cheesiness (lost keys, all of the spoken vocals in rosetta), and because it has more light-hearted and colloquial lyrics (the pot and rosetta). All in all it is not as inspiring as Lateralus, but I think the individual musicianship and technique is actually better. My dream Tool album would be Lateralus re-recorded with the 10kdays production and… Read more »
Personally as a musician and from a musical standpoint, 10,000 Days is the best album they’ve ever made, but with the fact that each album was made so far apart they cannot really be compared. Each album was made at a different time in the members’ lives and should be looked upon as separate artistic entities that have qualities that set them apart from eachother. Each album has its own distinctive sound, with each album borrowing from the previous one and taking their sound and direction to a different sonic plane.

Best Tool album imo.
1. 10,000 Days
2. Undertow

To me the best albums ever are Aenima and Lateralus, however 10,000 Days is merely genius. The techniques displayed and emotions emitted especially on “Wings for Marie” makes this album very pleasurable but left me wanting more(songs for example.) This album is brought together fortuitously and I hope Tool will release at least one more album that may hold high regards to its early predecessors.
