Tool Summer Tour confirmed

Blair has confirmed on Toolband/Army that Tool will be touring this summer. Presumably the US only, Tool break from recent trends and decide to tour prior to the release of the new album.

I’m sure many of you have heard of an upcoming summer tour. Although I can’t announce any specific dates yet (as the bulk of the dates haven’t been confirmed), once they are finalized and official, we’ll be sure to announce them on the site. So… be on the lookout for these dates to be posted soon, and get ready for live Tool this summer. (Now I understand what that elemental was referring to in the February newsletter)

Personally, this has caught me by surprise.  I wouldn’t be expecting an extensive tour, probably just a dozen or so dates in the major capitals.  I guess this also means Lollapalooza is more or less confirmed.

Awesome! Gonna be a great summer.  Gotta save up some money for a couple road trips to see them. Def hope they mix up the set list since they aren’t touring an album.

Fuck yeah! If they’re playing Chicago maybe they’ll swing through Minneapolis/St Paul too.

Awesome, awesome, awesome.

*Starts looking at cost of flying to America*

What do you reckon the odds are that they stick on a couple of shows in Europe and other places when they are done in the US?

It isn’t worth flying all the way to the USA for £500 or w/e  just to see them play their regular 10,000 days setlists.

Initially part of me was excited for our U.S brethren that Tool is touring but the other part of me is disappointed that it could delay them getting into the studio.

But whatever, I do realise that it’ll probably be more productive that all 4 four of them will be together for a period of time and will probably get them into the studio earlier. As long as they don’t want a break from each other after the summer.

Well, Tool might just suprise everyone and tour with some new material, a small taste to what is to come. Really looking forward to this.

I just freaked out.  Between album tours are always the best to get a full range of an artists catalogue! woooo hooo!  I got goosebumps.  Then I ran over to my Tool friends apartment and we freaked out like children together.  This is such awesome news.

Heres the date for their performance in Denver.  July 18.  Looks like they may be planning on hitting the festivals??

I am predicting one of the following for an April Fools’ Joke:

1)  “The Pot” and/or live footage DVD
2)  New album (followed by the confirmed summer tour)

But then again, Blair made an April 1st post last year, on the special Revolver magazine release…..

More “big things to come”, who knows….

Well The Pot DVD is definitely in the works, and Meats Meier did say he attended a rather important meeting with the Tool camp, further confirming Jones’ 3D Pot Video comments.

As for a tool summer tour and new album, I wouldnt be surprised if those were jokes. But wouldnt it be sweet if they pulled a NIN and just surprised us all with a new one? Not necessarily for free, just a surprise.

Clearly this is their April Fool’s joke.
