This is nothing more than speculation based on Blair‘s cryptic emails, but is worth posting anyway:
Sounds kinda crazy I know, but collectivejudas29 put together a good analysis of Blair’s spirit session from the February newsletter that led him to conclude Tool may be playing a show in July. It seems right to me, and more specifically it seems like they might be playing a festival. If it’s in July, that means it’s not Bonnaroo and not Lollapalooza. But there is another festival I’ve been hearing more and more about, and maybe it’s where Tool is heading — the All Good Festival.
Two parts of Blair’s message led me to this conclusion. The first is his footnote that seems to have no purpose. “* Y and J in place of I were also tried, as was V and W in place of U.” It has no place at all in figuring out what SILITNIUQ means. (SILITNIUQ is just QUINTILIS backwards, referring to July.) So what does that footnote mean? I think the letters are also backwards in the footnote, so not V and W (VW), but W and V (WV = West Virginia). Also he says at the end “if someone is able to fathom a meaning from the experiment, … please shout it out from the top of a mountain”. The All Good Festival is being held on Marvin’s Mountaintop in West Virginia.
I probably wouldn’t book your flights/tickets just yet though. Thanks to ogt from Toolarmy.
LOL what a pretentious wank! Has anyone actually deciphered Blair’s usual faux “code” before in all his previous newsletters? I don’t think anyone has because he’s taking the piss out of you-Tool fans. I can already see Blair laughing and picturing the usual tool fan masturbating (aka Collectivejudas29) hanging for any false sense of hope whilst he writes his nonsensical pieces. Its no wonder everyone loathes tool fans the most..

Yes they have.Â
I’m in a troll banning mood at the moment. Keep this up and your time here will be short…

Did I touch a nerve? Ban me, all the better actually.

Awesome. Â Thanks Hellboy, I was sick of reading that guy’s crap.
Just checked the All Good website.

Looks like a dirty hippie convention.
i’m fairly sure that blair consistently uses various codes in his newsletters. and i’m completely sure that all, but the most obvious of the messages are over my head. imho, no harm trying to figure it out, though. nice job, collective judas!!! that being said, i’m sure blair does laugh his ass off at our expense once in a while. but that’s ok, ’cause the favor is returned ala the recent hillarious toolarmy post that said blair looks like a trailer park lesbian (dead on, i think). 🙂 i’m totally new at this whole message board thing, but it sounds… Read more »
Its not very cool to come here and be a twat to others for no good reason either. That’s why he got banned. :\
As for this festival… uh, I guess its possible, they played Bonnaroo and that’s kind of a hippie outing too, but the whole lineup on that page sounds like some serious boondocks/hitchhiking/biscuit-eating shit. I remember awhile back people were dissecting one of his letters and saying they would play a show in ’08 too..
Why would Tool play a one off show at some obscure festival? Especially seeing as they should be in the middle of creating a new album? It just doesnt make any sense whatsoever.Â
yea. it’s cool and challenging to try to figure out blair’s codes, but i agree – it’s rather unlikely that they’d play a show. they’ve never played one in between albums before and it would be strange if they started now.
blair gets his shit wrong sometimes too. remember those cryptic mixer pics from before 10,000 days was released? the knobs clearly aligned to suggest a specific release date that never materialized. he later wrote that it meant something at the time, but never panned out.Â

They did it in 1999. Â One show and that was it.
i’m totally new at this whole message board thing, but it sounds like banning someone just because you’re in a bad mood, hellboy, doesn’t seem all that cool. but of course, i’m not aware of any history that may have preceeded this incident, so take my comment in perspective.
He basically begged me to ban him in the end. All he did was make abusive comments about how stupid Tool and Tool fans are, without actually making any kind meaningful contribution to the site
It does seem like a hippie convention. I haven’t heard of most of the bands, but Ben Harper (used to be with Innocent Criminals), Les Claypool, and Buckethead are awesome so they at least have that going for them. I would not be a bit surprised if Tool plays this festival but I also wouldn’t get my hopes up.
P.S. That guy deserved to be banned so good job, Hellboy
Here is my original Toolarmy post: From what I can gather…… a fairly normal looking human male with silvering hair This refers to Adams silver hair. wearing a purple toga embroidered with gold thread This refers to Dannys uniform of choice – a Lakers jersey. Upon its head was a laurel crown This refers to Maynard – I think (because of the part of Arizona where he lives) that Maynard has laurel trees on his property. and its feet were shod with Roman footwear of the calceus type This refers to Justins footwear. There are tons of pics on here… Read more »
Let us know if you find out for sure if and when they are playing
Good post Judas. Sound reasoning about the possibility of a July show, but I’d guess if they are doing a one-off show like they did in 1999, it would be closer to home.
Maybe i’m getting old now (28) but i’m totally over having to read cryptic puzzles and bullshit gibberish posts that have little or nothing to do with the band by Blair! Why cant it be as easy as just telling the fans and paying customers whats going on? I’ve been a big fan of the band for over half my life, seen them and APC in concert 6 times, but now i’ve really just stopped caring. Thank fuck for this site that I can just read whats going on without the bullshit and without throwing away $50 to be in… Read more »
